  1. I drive about 300 miles every 4-5 days. I only know this because my gas gauge is broken and I know I need to fill up when I hit 300. :)
  2. I didn't read the other responses, but I suggest supplementing meals with Pedisure. It's worked wonders for my little guy. Good luck!
  3. Census workers have many surveys throughout the year. It's how they get the unemployment numbers and such that are released the first Friday of each month. Specific streets are chosen and over a three year period every house will be selected to participate. They are very persistent. They are required to make numerous home visits and call all the time. If you don't respond they ask your neighbors, contact your employers, even call the utility companies for information. In March they have the most intrusive survey. https://ask.census.gov/cgi-bin/askcensus.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=781&p_created=1103807925&p_sid=zyiicFZi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD01NDEwLDU0MTAmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1 I worked for the dept of commerce for many years, until 2001. It sounds legit but I'd call the local office to confirm before I answered anything. HTH
  4. I'm fortunate that my parents have a vacation house that we are free to use whenever. It's less than 100 yards from their front door to the ocean. Unfortunatly, it's in Florida and we live in Colorado. So we don't get to use it very often. We love camping. Every summer we do it at least once, even with tiny babies. :) We are in the process of planning a European cruise for the fall of 09. It's taken a few years to ssave up but we're super excited!
  5. A few months ago we were stopped at a red light. My 3rd grader read the Chick Fil A sign out loud, "Free breakfast entrees on Tuesday". My 1st grader replied, "They serve the lunches on trays too." :)
  6. I'm sorry I will add your dd to my prayer list. I can't imagine the feeling you are processing right now. I'm so sorry.
  7. This year we are adding a daily family Rosary and 1 midweek Mass. I might give up hot showers again, but now that I'm up so early I don't know if I can stick to cold ones.
  8. We usually make every effort to be at practice. If I was coming down with strep though, we'd stay home.
  9. Ouch! That totally stinks. I'm glad you are able to find some humor in it.
  10. We pay $100 a month for 30-45 minute lessons per kid per week. I currently have three in private lessons. Unfortunately, I have to sit in the car for and hour and a half - two hours every Tuesday night as they rotate through. :O
  11. Do you mean an aviator? Click on "user control panel" at the top. If you want to post a pic inside your post click on the little envelope icon. HTH
  12. I find that more people RSVP when I include an email address in the invitation. I find it incredibly rude to not RSVP and then show up with siblings. Grrr
  13. I suggested it once out of curiosity but dh did NOT want to see it so we passed. He's not big into love stories and this certainly wouldn't be his thing. He isn't exactly homophobic but it would definitely make him uncomfortable. He does have a friend from work who is gay. He worked with the guy for three years before he found out. I think it was quite a shock. We went to his friend's partner's birthday party Thursday night. I'm not sure what we were expecting, since we've not had any experience with homosexuals, but we all had a great time. It wasn't weird at all. Well, I guess I just made this thread all about me, sorry!
  14. Wow, how exciting to start a new life! I wish you the best. I'm currently going to nursing school in Colorado. It's been a long and tedious process. The waitlist for nursing schools is between 2.5-3 years AFTER you've completed the prerequisites (A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, pathophysiology, psych 101 and human growth and development). I didn't have the prereqs needed for the prereqs (Bio 101 & 201 and sociology) so I had to take those before starting. It's taken me a long time to get here. I'll graduate next May with both an associates in nursing and a BSN. While I was waiting on the waitlist I finished all the BSN requirements. I was accepted into the nursing program at the community college before the state university so I accepted. But now I'm duel enrolled. It's so confusing. The nursing program is awesome but it takes so long to get into it. :( Since I'm working 12 hour shifts during clinicals at the hospitals I can no longer school my kiddos. It sounds like you have that all taken care of already. :)
  15. It should also have an attachment for mommy's keys and the tv remote. We either have a million Pacis or NONE.
  16. Kids are mean, even if they're homeschooled. It's a hard lesson to learn. I try to teach my own kids to be kind even if they're being bullied or picked on. It just isn't fair... :(
  17. We've been on Royal Caribbean. I can't say enough wonderful things about cruising! IMO, it's the best family vacation!
  18. Maybe they wiped the slate clean. I know I'm in the minority but I do miss the diversity people like Butch provided. In my real life almost everyone I know is just like me. I like the perspective of those whose belief systems are so opposite of mine. Then again, I also like peace and tranquility. :)
  19. I think the smileys will help. There's bound to be some hurt feelings eventually. We are a group of hormonal women, after all. ;)
