  1. "Yea, you go! Stick it to 'em!! Further up and farther in." too funny!
  2. I remove lots of bindings for two reasons, to make coping easier and to spiral bound.
  3. I make movies and montages out of them. I use Windows Movie Maker and put them to music then burn them to DVDs. I also add home movies to mix in with the pictures. Onetruemedia is a great site to share them online for free but you would have to pay to get a DVD copy. Here is one I made for my mom yesterday: http://www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=5e54fa7dde12871468f5f0&skin_id=1602&utm_source=otm&utm_medium=text_url How about a digital photo frame? If you want to print them uou can upload them and get them printed at Walmart or Sams for really cheap, especially if you're doing a bunch at once. BTW-I keep back ups on Dvds of all my pictures JIC. ETA: you can also upload the movies to youtube to share with friends and family. I made this last week when my 9 and 7 year olds did their 1st triathlon:
  4. OTC Migraine meds (Excedrin) add caffeine, the caffeine is what makes them "Migraine" strength. They are actually a combination of aspirin, acetaminophin and caffeine. I assume you're trying to cut back caffeine from your OP so you probably want to avoid these types of meds. Also acetaminophin can cause rebound headaches. I usually try Advil 1st then a dark quiet room. I hope you are able to find relief soon!
  5. Our American Heritage Girls’ troop spends the early morning (8am ish) lying flowers on soldier’s graves. :patriot:We then attend the city’s Memorial Day service where the girls hand out their homemade thank you for your service cards to the Vets and active duty service men. We try to teach the girls to use their courage by walking up and saying “thank you†while looking them in the eye. They show their courage for us by serving our country, this is the least we can do for them. :) The very little girls sometimes struggle with this part. The service ends around 11. We then head to the club for a huge pool party to welcome in summer. :auto: There we participate in the fun activities like daddy-daughter chair races, t-shirt relays, noodle rodeos, water balloon toss, penny dives, beer dives:cheers2:, soda dives, and have a huge BBQ.
  6. Love it! Dh had a gift certificate from $100 to Best Buy. We went yesterday to see what they had. There were a bunch of Wii Fits. We spent 3 hours this morning playing on it. It calculates the BMI and makes the Mii fit they body type. Mine is tall and skinny and dh's pretty chunky! lol I think that alone gave him motivation to work out. It takes a bit to get used to the balance stuff but it's a lot of fun. We set fitness goals and it keeps track of the time spent and levels we're on. We are both way out of shape but the trainers helped us to do the exercises and breathing the correct way. "You seem to be a bit shaky on your left foot." "Try leaning more towards your toes." "Lets work on your breathing exercises before we move on." I love it!
  7. We adopted our 4 year old from foster care when he was 18 months old. He was also a relative, but we had him since birth. I think our fees were around $125 and $15 for a new birth certificate. The county eventually sent us a check (6-9 months later) to reimburse our expenses. I had to call and ask what the check was for since I didn’t know that they did that. According to our caseworker kinship adoptions through the foster care system are free. Anyhow, the entire process was very cheap. We didn’t hire a lawyer or anything, though. Since we didn't pay any fees we didn't investigate the tax credit thingy. Sorry I can't help there.
  8. :iagree: I very much dislike this man, but I felt a little gut punch when I heard the news. :( I too am praying.
  9. Dh and I decided early into our marriage that we'd only have children until I turned 30. We both felt is was important for us to be young parents. I'm a little sad that that part of my life has ended. Not that we would have had more anyhow since five is plenty, but sad that a chapter has closed nonetheless! :) I feel so blessed that we were able to give our children the gift of grandparents young enough to enjoy them. My parents have been the biggest blessings of our lives. They come to every sporting event, piano recital, talent show, everything. The take one of my children (they take turns) on an exotic vacation every year, usually a cruise or to Europe. They ride the roller coasters and water slides together. I’m already beginning to see that they are starting to age. My mom turned 55 this year. My dad 58. It’s sad for me to watch them slow down a bit. I feel so lucky that my children go to spend so much time with them in their prime years. My memories of my grandparents are of them being too old to really play an active role in my life. We had great times but it was completely different. I feel especially blessed to have parents that love my children as much as me. I feel bad that my sister, who is only 14 lol, will not have the same experiences with her children.
  10. ITA with JudoMom! Colorado Springs is lovely. :) Good luck with your decision!
  11. According to the newspaper, our local schools are considering a random drug testing policy for all extracurricular activities. I was wondering what The Hive's opinions were on this topic. :) There are limits, established by legal precedent, to random drug testing: -Federal money can go only to schools that have existing drug-prevention programs including referral to treatment or counseling for students identified as drug users. -There can be no academic suspension for use, only the loss of extracurricular privileges. -Testing results must remain confidential. Funds for testing of students are limited to the following: - Students who engage in competitive, extracurricular, school-sponsored activities -Other students who, along with a parent or guardian, have signed a consent form to participate in a random testing program http://www.gazette.com/articles/drug_36241___article.html/explored_random.html[/font]
  12. Three big kids: swim team, kung fu, piano (girls), guitar (boy), 3 enrichment classes each, American Heritage girls, Conquest boys group, Landsharks running club, jump rope classes, tennis lessons, and art lessons The little guys: music and me, gymnastics, cheering on the big sibs at their activities. ME: I'm in my final year of nursing school!, American Heritage Girl's leader, USA swimming official and taxi driver :)
  13. I've tried eating a huge breakfast before donating but it doesn't help me. I can't figure out why my body behaves so badly. Every. single. time. I donate I get extremely nauseous, turn white as a ghost, pass out and end up having to stay FOREVER so they can watch me. I'm sick and lethargic for two days after. I can't figure out how to prevent that kind of a reaction. I don't have any issues with needles and have never fainted getting an IV but after 20 minutes of blood donating I'm out like a light. My dh is a great bleeder. He's in and out within 15 minutes and fine the rest of the day. I don't get it. I would love to donate more but physically it's too hard.
  14. Yes, I bought it off eBay when my youngest had serial infections. I use it quite often. I love looking in ears. I think it was around $40, two years ago.
  15. I'm praying. JCAHO is scary! We've been anticipating a visit since February. I hope they show up soon so we can all take a deep breath again. A few months ago fake JCAHO people "inspected" a local ED. They ended up stealing all the prescription pads. It was crazy!
  16. LOL! Our "town" has 500,000+ people. :)
  17. A lot. We are luck to have a huge extended family that lives locally. My children spend several nights a week at my parent's house. I have 62 cousins that live in town. My children have lots of sleepovers and playdates with their cousins.
  18. Like this? http://www.nike.com/index.jhtml?l=nikestore,grid,_grid,f-10002+12002+4294967249/ip-100/pn-1&re=US&co=US&la=EN#l=nikestore,grid,_grid,f-10002+12002+4294967249/ip-100/pn-1&re=US&co=US&la=EN I don't have a problem with them. IMO the cotton ones are a bit white trashy.
  19. 1-800-flowers isn't very good. They used UPS not a local florist. I've been satisfied with Proflowers. I've had the best luck with quality and service when I looked up local florists and call them directly.
