  1. Can you give info about what slant that would be?
  2. Thanks everyone! I was feeling like I kept running into walls, but now there is hope! If you have more ideas, keep them coming. Oh, and she does have a tiny bit of speech delay on certain words. At first I thought it was her accent, but I don't think so anymore.
  3. I asked her and she said she's never had her hearing tested. She said she would talk to her mom about it. She's 39. Yes, she has dyslexia and a mild developmental delay. We started off with a "regular" reading program, then switched to Wilson which did not work at all. Used Explode the Code which was better but it wasn't until Phonics Pathways that I realized that until we get this vowel thing worked out she's not going to get anywhere
  4. Hi - I'm working with an adult who know her consonants but has trouble hearing the difference between vowels. For instance, if I ask her what letter makes the short i sound, she will often associate it with igloo but will mispronounce it as "eggloo" and tell me that e makes the i sound. I have tried switching her association words and it doesn't seem to help. I have worked with her for over a year and am almost at the point where I will have to tell her I cant help her. Please if you have any ideas I am all ears

  6. Hi - I was wanting to add a Latin American unit to Sonlight Core F - any ideas of books that would be appropriate for middle schoolers? I want to cover major historical figures as well as some historical fiction.
  7. Hi - what would be a good book that profiles different Native American tribes and has great photos/illustrations?
  8. Oh, and we are doing math because she wants to work on her money skills.
  9. Thanks! I was able to order stuff by Ronit Bird from the library! Will have to check out the rest of it later. I don't think she has issues with counting or transposing numbers (just letters). I wish I had more info to give you! :/
  10. She does - she's an adult actually. I know she has dyslexia, but not sure what else.
  11. Hi - does anyone have any good ideas about how to transition to mental math from counting on fingers. Thanks!
  12. The teacher's guide is a must for fun supplemental activities, but Continuing the Story is not.
  13. Haven't used it yet, but I own the curriculum by Lesha Myers and it looks fantastic. I can't imagine Beautiful Feet's being any better. :)
  14. Thanks all for your help - I think I will just put it off for awhile and stick to Spanish. :)
