  1. the first ambition of my first-born was to be a toilet bowl cleaner. :001_huh: my youngest wants to do everything from making clothes for people with no arms and legs to being a bird or a cow. he's quite ambitious. my daughter wants to be curator at the Smithsonian. ambitious, but practical.
  2. i've been rebellious since the day i was born. now that i'm older it takes less dangerous forms, luckily!
  3. i never reached my fitness goals until i started lifting heavy. by heavy i mean the heaviest weight i can lift 5-6 times with good form. i was chronically overweight 90% of my life until i started lifting. http://www.amazon.com/New-Rules-Lifting-Women-Goddess/dp/1583333398/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1283912329&sr=8-1 this is the book that started my mind to changing... good luck!
  4. this weekend i was supposed to relax and enjoy my anniversary...but instead i painted ceilings at my dad's house.
  5. i never told my husband how much i weighed until i got under 140 pounds. then he knew how much i had weighed (270 pounds!) because he knew how much i'd lost!
  6. husband territory! the last thing i need is to sit around the oil change place for 2 hours with squirmy kids. i did take it to get tires once, does that count? ;}
  7. comcast vs Uverse...uverse wins customer service hands down. we were one of the first fiber optic neighborhoods in the Houston area so there were some bugs at first but they have been more than accomodating and have adjusted our bill multiple times. comcast hung up on me more than once while reporting problems. i would pick uverse over comcast every time...but they'd better hurry up and get Fox Soccer Plus. for real.
  8. i workout between 2-4pm five days a week. after school and before soccer practice. i've also found that it is the best time of day for me physically...not to mention the gym is not crowded!
  9. maybe it's lazy but i never include an apostrophe, yall. since it's slang-ish, i don't feel the least bit guilty about it. :D
  10. i have a close friend who had a very similar situation...her baby was losing weight, at 6 months old he weighed less than a pound more than when he was born. there were some minor (self correcting) heart issues, but when she started feeding him formula he started growing. she is very pro-breastfeeding and fed her previous kids the breast until they were over 2 years old...but for some reason her milk wasn't what it was when she was younger and the baby was not getting what he needed. he's just over 2 years old now and the cutest, chubby thing you ever saw! breast is best, but you should really listen to the doctor in this case. good luck!
  11. www.dailyburn.com is good as well. it's easier in a lot of ways. i like the nutrition area better than fitday, but the workout logging at fitday is better for me. you can also keep track of your water intake at dailyburn.
  12. the first week is the hardest for sure. make sure you're getting enough fats. by the end of the 2.5 weeks you may start feeling so good that you decide to keep going (believe it or not!) good luck!
  13. i completely agree! i could not honestly look at my kids and tell them that they were born evil or fallen, there was no way to reconcile that idea in my mind. but i would never call it my downfall! :D
  14. :iagree: i'll take it a step further and say that i don't understand the belief that man needs 'salvation' through christ or any other thing outside himself. being human is wonderful and unique...to constantly fight against one's human nature is insanity and cripples personal power in my opinion.
  15. sounds like Keto to me. you can use a food log like DailyBurn.com to make sure you are doing things right and really keeping up with your carb intake. the macro breakdown for the Keto diet is 65% fat, 30% protien, 5% carbs. if you have a few pounds to shed, get ready to drop 'em! :D
  16. i've read that over 1/3 of caucasians are gluten intolerant to some degree. i am not gluten intolerant, but i eat no processed foods. only meat, veggies, nuts, dairy, and the occasional fruit. my overall health is vastly improved, i literally am like a different person. i lost about 140 pounds with these changes as well. everything from my skin to my hair, joints, digestion, etc have improved incredibly.
  17. Weightlifting Nutrition Soccer and i've been on a bit of an astrology kick lately.
  18. my husband does this for a living and says whatever you do, DO NOT put oxiclean or resolve on your carpet or upholstery! he sees it ruin people's things everyday. find a steam cleaner in your area. if you have to clean it with something, vinegar and water is the only thing that will not set the stains or leave a nasty, dirt-attracting residue. good luck!
  19. if it weren't for my workout time, i'd have to be locked away! it's my sanity and not only do LOVE it, i need it!
  20. my husband works for commission in Houston and we're doing VERY well this year. i know it's been said that Houston has been insulated from the worst parts, but last year was his worst year in the past 5 years. this year promises to be his biggest year ever if things continue at this rate. his company is trying to hire a new guy and they can't get anyone, so i don't guess anyone is hurting for work around here either!
  21. Wesley Sneijder is stealing my heart. :001_tt1: Holland has been my pick since well before the Cup. HUP HOLLAND HUP!!!
  22. i think i blew a gasket in my throat. ouch, but oh so worth it! :D
  23. anything less than 12 hours a day is a pleasant surprise. dh is 100% commission. great money, terrible hours.
  24. i actually think Skylab is pretty cool! i've told my husband that it's a good thing we aren't having any more kids because i've taken a liking to the name Kaiser von Loopy lately... ;) i have a great-great aunt named Icy...why you would want to impart the virtue of frigidness on your daughter is beyond me!
