  1. i gained weight after my tubal, but i gained weight while nursing all of my kids, so i can't say it was because of the tubal. the main reason i regret it is because of lack of...ahem...desire, so to speak.
  2. do you feel good about how your parents handled it? No, ignoring is not handling. What did they do right? they got me into some sports once i hit puberty, but it didn't help. What did they do wrong? they took the stance that i would take care of it when i was ready to deal with it, which i did (which i believe is more a testament to my character than their good parenting decision), but i have struggled with my weight my entire life. they did not provide any honesty or education. When did you become overweight? probably 2nd grade. i was dreading the PE weigh-in by 3rd grade, for sure. How do you wish things had been handled? there was always junk food around and i was allowed free reign of the kitchen. i wish they had acknowledged the problem and taken steps to help me. instead of stocking the kitchen with cookies, donuts, and sodas, telling me that eating those things were what was causing the problem would have been nice. Did you grow into your weight as a child (e.g. got taller, weight stayed the same, so no longer overweight)? i have struggled with my weight constantly. i have been at my ideal weight for a few years now, but it was through very hard work and educating myself. it is still a struggle because i feel like the 'fat me' is always right around the corner waiting to take over again. Are you still overweight? If you are, do you see a connection between how your family handled your childhood weight issues? i am not overweight, but i had to lose 140 pounds to get to this place. and yes, the weight was most certianly related to childhood weight issues.
  3. my personal hobbies are playing cello and Pennsylvania Dutch Hex work. i also weightlift; but since that is as necessary as breathing, i don't consider it a hobby!
  4. i had an attack that lasted from Monday to Saturday of last week. i did this flush Saturday night into Sunday morning, and it wasn't pleasant at all, but i've been as good as new this week! http://www.curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_recipe.asp good luck!
  5. :iagree: this has always been my understanding of sin as well. not only does my religion not believe in sin, but we see no need for salvation or atonement, either.
  6. i don't care a bit about the superbowl, but i am pretty excited about the Liverpool vs. Chelsea game tomorrow!
  7. i am very reluctant to part with any of my organs! i've done liver cleanses, dietary changes, gallbladder purges...ugh.
  8. i have no health insurance, but my gallbladder didn't get the memo. it would like to come out, and soon. the emergency room told me that they would only do the surgery if i was infected or ruptured, but given the pain i'm in i don't know if i'd like to wait that long. so my question is: how much did your gallbladder surgery cost? TIA!
  9. we honor a similar goddess, but in the Houston area she is known as Trafficka. ;)
  10. i try to keep my macros at 50%fat, 30%protein, 20% carbs all the time...unless it's a holiday or something. dailyburn.com is a good way to track your macros. i ate well, and exercised like a crazy person....and still do. but i don't want to weigh 270 pounds ever again, so it's very worth it. in fact, i love it!
  11. as someone who has lost over 140 pounds and kept it off for a few years now with a low-carb lifestyle, i'll tell you my philosophy about weight loss: you have to learn to love what you hate. :D
  12. :iagree: we are literally the most conservative family i know. many of my friends in the Heathen community are homesteaders and the majority homeschool.
  13. from time to time i can't find Mexican Oregano at the store and i'll get the plain ole' oregano...no one's ever noticed a difference!
  14. the only one i ever used was the taco seasoning one and in order to eliminate the MSG and preservatives i now use: 1TBSP chili powder 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/4 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp mexican oregano 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes 1-1/2 tsp cumin 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper everyone likes it better than the mix pouches.
  15. exercise releases more endorphins than eating...are you in too much pain to go for a walk? i've also read about links between aspartame and fibromyalgia which may be worth looking in to. good luck!
  16. Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, Georgia is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been. it's a little over 2 hours from B'ham and is close to Lookout Mountian/Rock City/Ruby Falls in Tennessee.
  17. cool. thanks, type can be hard to interpret sometimes. :)
  18. well, i did edit the post you quoted due to a mis-used word, but i hope you aren't being as snarky as you seem.
  19. saying that being Heathen is not a religion/spiritual path is offensive to me. i know many, many, many people on multiple continents who would beg to differ. people may call it Asatru, Odinism, or Heathenry, but at it's core it is the same thing. i tend to use the term Heathen because it leads to a little less misunderstanding...but obviously not much less misunderstanding. :glare: like i said, the main difference in the words 'pagan' and 'heathen' is etymological.
