  1. Some NPs have doctorate degrees so doctor would be appropriate.
  2. Happy to find out DS got a 4 on AP World History! This is even with the fact that he was only able to complete the thesis paragraph of the last free response question. He did spend a lot of time on the DBQ and fair amount of time on second free response and ran out of time for last essay.
  3. He does a song on Les Miserables which is great. I thought he was funny and talented.
  4. Happy Belated Birthday! I am with you on trying to get my health back. I have been exercising fairly regularly since the beginning of April since I had a wake up call where I ended up in the ER due to being very short of breath. My extra 85 pounds of weight does not help asthma or my other health issues and I am getting way too old to put if off any more. Personal trainers can be great if you can afford to show you good routines. I really recommend weight training since it helps you feel better quicker than aerobics alone. Sometimes personal trainers have small group classes like the one I am doing now. I do it once a week only since I cannot afford more but it is insurance to get me to the gym once a week. Alternatively, if money is an issue, you can find weight training and aerobic videos on youtube, amazon, hulu, netflix, the library, etc. Great Courses had to sets on exercise. I also found having a video at home to use and some dumbells (sp?) and a step also useful to have at home. Leslie Sansone has great low impact videos ans she is inspiring. I like her Walk Away the Pounds. Step workouts can also be very rigorous. I like Step reebok the Video with Gin Miller. It is tough but you can march in place for intervals when it gets too tough.
  5. Mitchum gel is the best IMHO. I had a lot of troubles in the past with this despite good hygeine and Mitchum is what works. They have versions for men and women. I like the baby powder fresh scent for women and for my kid mountain air scent. It also helps to wash and rinse area vigorously 3 or 4 times while in shower. I do use hibiclens about once a month there after washing with regular body wash and then rinse thoroughly. The first time I used it, I used it several days in a row to be sure to kill all bacteria there. I have heard that cleaning area with rubbing alcohol after normally washing also helps but not right after a shave.
  6. Is not full time tutoring allowed in PA since that is a teacher?
  7. :grouphug: I know it is hard but constant supervision is really needed IMHO and consequences even if possibly on the spectrum. Is your partner able to relieve you for at least an hour or two every evening? Can you get up and dressed before they get up and dressed? We always used a family room with different activities/toys/books available for ds and amenities for me. I also had stuff available to take along with us and in the kitchen. Activity boards with different locks, zippers, etc might be useful. Play dough, puzzles, rubric cubes, crayons, immersion reading, educational TV shows, construction paper, craft projects might be useful. A bouncy seat for seat work which can be placed on top of a chair. Also, wear them out several times a day with lots of exercise like Wii Fit running/jogging which may help. Avoid sugar, junk food too, artificial dyes, juices. In essence, he goes wherever you go.
  8. :grouphug: I hope this outrageous injustice is resolved soon.
  9. The book Men are from Mars, Women from Venus is a good book IMHO for both spouses to read and may help open up the lines of communication. As for yourself, are your doing anything specifically for you that you enjoy? Or are you consumed with taking care of the family and neglecting yourself as many of us tend to do? IMHO finding ways to care for yourself and your needs will also go a long way to feeling fulfilled. Currently I am really focused on getting better health with exercise and healthy eating since my health was really not great and I am way too old to keep putting off taking care of myself. It has been helpful.
  10. We are battling athlete' foot right now and from what I read athlete's foot could present like that and other ways. My kid's presentation was not the norm so initially I thought it was something else since it appeared as small red areas on top and bottom of toes and no itching at all just tenderness and some swelling initially of the last 2 toes! I researched and terbinafine spray is what I would consider especially for between toes and you could get the cream for rest of foot twice daily for about 4 weeks. Ask your doctor. You normally continue for 2 weeks after symptoms are gone. Terbinafine (lamisil) is one of the meds that actually kills the fungus and acts quicker whereas the others just inhibit the growth of fungi and take longer. Wash and dry feet carefully at least once daily. Clean shower with some sort of clorox like tilex. Apparently you can wash clothes and sneakers with pine sol which kills fungi but I have not tried yet. Use hot water for socks, towels, etc. and bleach if white socks and towels. Try to wear sandals at least around house to air out feet. http://www.acfaom.org/information-for-patients/common-conditions/athletes-foot http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/tc/athletes-foot-treatment-overview http://thedermblog.com/2008/07/09/6-ways-to-keep-your-feet-fungus-free/
  11. If your hospitals offered good tuition reimbursement and they hire ADNs I would go cheaper route and then immediately go for BSN with the tuition reimbursement.
  12. If the local hospital will not pay for BSN, then definitely go straight for BSN and better yet if you really want lots of options go for BSN and Nurse Practitioner of some sort straight away. If you want administration look do research on what degrees these people have after nursing.
  13. According the Atlantic article posted above: "Many prominent figures in American life learn, once the eye of the national press alights on them, that they are not the people who they always thought -- or said -- they were." This includes Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and New Mexico Gov. Susanna Martinez. The same article points out that: "The best argument she's got in her defense is that, based on the public evidence so far, she doesn't appear to have used her claim of Native American ancestry to gain access to anything much more significant than a cookbook; in 1984 she contributed five recipes to the Pow Wow Chow cookbook published by the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee, signing the items, "Elizabeth Warren -- Cherokee." The same article is very clear about her not taking advantage of this and also clearly shows that her family lore included stories of native american ancestry. I know my family lore does as well as well as plenty of others in America. This does not make EW a liar or a deceptive person at all in my book. Instead I see her as being the victim of opponents looking for any mud to throw:(
  14. I follow the recipe exactly in the instant pot recipe book that came with the IP. I measure carefully, rinse rice beforehand, and only use organic white basmati or white jasmine rice and the corresponding recipes. We don't do brown anymore due to arsenic being less in white basmati or white jasmine from california and india last I checked.
  15. I see some use IP for dry beans. Any tips/recipes for using it for kidney beans, black beans, and garbanzos?
  16. Well if you are a rice eater, then cooking rice in it is well worth it for us.
  17. We have to decide whether my kid will start with Honors Bio or Honors Chem next year with the intent that he would take the AP course the following year as required by his school. He has had exposure to Bio and Chem for the past 4 years and will get the honors course before the AP course. The school requires that he take both AP courses by the time he graduates so it is not a matter of which one. It is a matter of which one first. So in your experience, which AP course is easier for a kid who finds sciences and math easy?
  18. I agree with the low key. I think the wedding industry is a big racket and that it is foolish to spend tens of thousands of dollars on weddings and honeymoons. I also do not care for some of the so-called wedding rituals that you commonly here which we skipped as well. We spent less than $6000.00 for our whole wedding, invitations and all. Plus, the only reason it was not less was because my mom insisted on a different caterer and such and would not less us print our own invitations on very nice invitation paper ourselves. I had only a maid of honor and she wore a dress that she wanted. If I had had brides maids I would have done the same. I had no photographer and instead left disposable cameras on every table a the reception and several relatives filming and taking pictures. We rented no limo and had a friend of the family drive us in his old cream colored bently. I had a friend of the family make my veil and got my dress at David's. Plus, the only reason, I got the dress at David's was because I could not find a pretty regular (non wedding) gown in my plus size. We made a lot of the decorations for the tables. The shower and reception were held at my parents' house (we were lucky here since it was a very nice house). My engagement ring was a simple, small antique diamond ring from the early 1900s that we bought for $300. We planned our honeymoon at the last minute and did a car trip to Maine and stayed for about a week seeing several cities there.
  19. Cough-cough-I was 39 when I married! And yes I had a shower but did not expect anything even though I had a registry and nothing on the registry was $500. As for what my husband and I already had, of course we had many house things already since we both lived as singles for a long time and maintained our own places but I still wanted to experience many of the things that go along with a wedding like a shower even though we did all of our wedding festivities on a shoe string since we had to pay for it:)
  20. Your library might have leslie sansone videos which are great for beginners.
  21. IMHO I think it is offensive to assume that those without insurance are inmates or undocumented immigrants. My parents, both born and raised here and are upstanding citizens could not afford health insurance for 3 years before they were eligible for medicare. Also, prior to ACA, many hospitals were shutting down emergency rooms to due the huge amount of uninsured people. That number has dropped dramatically thanks to the ACA health care law. Additionally, many hospitals advocated for the ACA healthcare law and for expansion of medicaid that many states refused despite the ACA encouraging these states with financial incentives. Lastly, prior to the ACA law, both my son and myself were turned down for health insurance by several companies for pre-exisitng conditions despite the fact that we had continuous health insurance with no breaks in coverage. We were in the private market at that point due to change in jobs. Also, my son and I were fairly healthy at the time with no devastating diseases which should always be covered anyway.
