  1. It's World Naked Gardening Day! You're welcome.

Damn. And we were clothed. I didn't wear underwear, though...

Yeah, I'm sure the neighbors would just love watching me weed in the buff. LOL

  2. I cannot imagine a life without bare feet. We are beach people.
  3. If you bought the old edition, does anyone know if you can upgrade somehow? Or, do you pay again?
  4. Wow. That seems much less onerous than I was imagining. Thank you for sharing.
  5. My son's French-ministry approved immersion preschool did this. I thought it was a freaky French thing. Apparently, it's an international trend, no doubt spurred by Pinterest.
  6. Sacha performed The Falling Star by Sara Teasdale tonight at the Poetry Cafe.

  7. I wouldn't care one way or the other -- boy or girl. If it was for a job interview, I'd feel differently, but generally I don't care about harmless self-expression. ETA: My DS6 has thus far only asked to dye his hair pink (temp color) and have his nails polished, both of which I agreed to.
  8. Thanks. This is super helpful. My son is addicted!
  9. Umami Burger...mmmmm. I keep waiting for one to open in San Diego.
  10. Bumping this old thread because my son loves this game. Is it worth the upgrade?
  11. I put in a conditional order for both sets. I hope the price drops! Great deal for a program with great reviews. We are secular homeschoolers, but I am going to try to make it work (even if just for self-education). I've had a Great Books set my parents passed down sitting on my shelves forever. Time to dust those babies off!
  12. They extended their free curriculum offer until July, so I think I am going to test it out: http://www.romanroadsmedia.com/2015/01/classical-edu-for-parents/
  13. The Roman Roads/Schola Great Books program looks pretty amazing, but I wonder if it is possible to use it secularly. Have any secular homeschoolers watched the DVDs or taken these classes?
  14. I was just think the same. Really freaking cruel.
  15. I don't think that it is political correctness to distinguish body dysmorphic disorder from gender dysphoria. The mainstream medical community has determined that gender dysphoria is not a mental illness. I have no scientific basis for disagreement, and, thus, I am curious -- on what evidentiary basis are others in this thread making the determination that the medical community is incorrect?
  16. Me: Sacha, I got that colonoscopy video you asked for. Sacha: Cool!
  17. Memorial Day through Labor Day. Can you tell I like my summer? :)
  18. This is pretty much us as well. We hire a housekeeper because it is cheaper than therapy.
  19. I can't answer in the third option. I have a housekeeper.
  20. I found this resource today and thought I would share. They specialize in prepping kids for the Physics Olympiad and AP Physics courses. They are local to San Diego, but also conduct online classes. http://www.inphynity.com/
  21. I came across an article about some cool science games by a company called Genius Games. I thought I would share. This chemistry game is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geniusgames/ion-a-compound-building-game This genetics/biology game is available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Linkage-A-DNA-Card-Game/dp/B00NAEO482 Another genetics/biology game, currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geniusgames/peptide-a-protein-building-game Happy gaming!
  22. I use this list to find the best science trade books: http://www.nsta.org/publications/ostb/
  23. We too plan to start the History of US next year, but I decided on the audiobook version. You might also look at K12 Human Odyssey for world history. For Science, we use Holt Science & Technology textbooks as a spine. For econ, I have compiled a few books in an Amazon wishlist that may be helpful for you (I believe I made the list public): http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2985V3G6Z9OGU/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o?
