  1. Praying that the problems can be resolved quickly with the treatments you have. :grouphug: for you!
  2. We love the name game. Kids can play it too (probably down to age 6-7). It's a group game for an unlimited number of people, although it's more difficult with a larger group! Everyone gets a piece of paper, and writes a name on it (any name - person in the room, famous person, historical person, pet's name, whatever). Don't let anyone else see it. One person (not playing or writing down a name) will be the "name caller", collects all of the papers, then reads through all of the names once or twice. The goal of the game is to guess which name belongs to each person, and not have anyone guess the name you wrote on your paper. The first person makes a guess. "Betty, are you Abraham Lincoln?". If the answer is no, Betty gets her turn to make a guess. If the answer is yes, Betty joins up with the person who guessed her name; they are now a team, and they get to guess again. Anytime a person's "name" is guessed, they join up with the team or person who guessed them, and they share their names and use their collective mind to try to guess the rest. It's really fun to try to figure out what name people have written; often there are big surprises. My kids love this game; we usually play it with a mixed-age group and always have a great time.
  3. I love the Barely There microfiber underwear. Very, very comfortable. I prefer the hipster, but there are several other styles. I've gotten them at Kohl's; they're also available at One Hanes Place.
  4. I definitely think SOTW is enough for that age. Add one or two picture books or an activity (once you're out of the "TOG" fog) if you want to add extra. I think at that age, less is better than too much. If you want (now or in the future) a program that uses SOTW and adds in just a little more, check into Biblioplan. Very flexible, easy to use, good books for all ages. It's been a lifesaver for me!
  5. I've missed her too! I loved reading her blog, and I keep checking it, hoping she's back.
  6. Wow, what a beautiful sweater! Congratulations!
  7. Congratulations and welcome to baby A.J.! I'm so glad to hear of the quick delivery and your dh's good timing. God is providing for you. I'm praying that you'll have strength and joy for the days ahead. Enjoy your little one!
  8. I use All HE Free & Clear, only about half the recommended amount. I also add baking soda or white vinegar to help the detergent rinse out and avoid the nasty smell issue. I have the LG non-stackable washer, and it holds a lot of clothes - more than I expected when I first looked inside! I've washed queen-size comforters with no problems.
  9. Jo, I'm so glad you posted. I've been wondering about you and baby today! I will pray for a safe delivery of your little one, and that you will have *extra* peace and courage as you face this without your dh. Looking forward to good news tomorrow!
  10. Chocolate always wins for me, but the creme brulee and key lime parfait sound wonderful too. I'd love to have your recipes, especially of my "top three. I'm probably not going to make it out to CA to be a taste tester. :drool5: :auto:
  11. :grouphug: Blueridge, I can't imagine how painful this is for you. Others have given great advice, so I'll just give hugs and prayers.
  12. :grouphug: That's an awful lot of stressful stuff to have rolling around in your brain! Prayers for you.
  13. Good luck! I've done all those things (minus the endo) this month as well. Not really my idea of fun! :o
  14. How scary for her...I will pray. Please keep us updated.
  15. Congratulations! I hope you have a great year with your little guys!
  16. Congratulations, Aubrey's son and the whole family! How exciting for you to have a little brother! :hurray:
  17. We used Biblioplan 1600-1850 last year. I can understand why you're struggling - it's a bit different because in pulls in more American history in addition to SOTW. That makes it hard to just use SOTW as your only spine! I used SOTW 3 and the DK Children's Encyclopedia of American History (not scheduled in BP) for our spines last year. I started out with A Child's Story of American, but we just didn't like it, so switched to the DK Encyclopedia. I love reading A History of US books for myself, but I think they're too much information and detail for grammar stage kids. IMO, those books are much better suited for older students. I've never used all of the spines scheduled in Biblioplan. It's my understanding that the multiple spines are scheduled so you can pick & choose for different ages of students. Don't try to do it all! Pick what best fits your kids...that's the beauty of Biblioplan!
  18. Ouch! Hope you're feeling better soon. Cleaning IS hazardous to your health, you know. That's why I don't do it. ;) :auto:
  19. Sue does great reviews, doesn't she? Her reviews have been very helpful to me. I had to go find this one - I'm looking at Megawords!
  20. I'm praying for you, Jo. I'm so glad your mom is there to help. :grouphug: for you as you prepare for your baby.
  21. I have tears reading this...such a hard time for your family, Doran. Your father is so blessed to have a loving, attentive family. Your love and care for him will make this difficult time as good as it possibly can be for him. Praying for you and your family. :grouphug:
