  1. Deja vu!!! I wonder if a certain forsythia hedge is happily blooming once again--somewhere in VA?
  2. I have no experience with returning a front loader, but in the case of my machine, the door needs to be left open or at least slightly ajar, ALL of the time, unless the machine is actually in use. Experience has definitely taught me to remove the wet load very soon after the cycle is finished. :tongue_smilie: It seems to take no time at all (here in FL) for a funky odor to develop. If the aforementioned funky odor does occasionally appear, I run a cycle of plain white vinegar through the machine and generally all is well. The mildew needs to be wiped away in order for the smell to completely go away...of this, I am certain! Good luck and hopefully you will be able to return it.
  3. Wendy...order it in the petite size. :)
  4. BAM!!! Thank you...just ordered it in black. It looks great! I love it when The Hive helps with shopping. (By the way, I was just telling someone yesterday the story of how I bought an antique airplane propeller via the WTM board! Too funny...) Jen
  5. Hi Christus....many many moons ago, I replied to your thread re: microwaves at the FPEA convention & the Gaylord. :) Sooooo....moving on.... Without a doubt, you are referring to a property, that is for sale, that is within sight of my home. :) I have info re: that property, that would definitely be of interest to someone wishing to purchase it. Please PM me! Have you guys driven by it yet? Either way, we are the white two story house on the right-hand side of the road with the long red tin roof over the front porch, that is located right before the actual cul-de-sac begins.....i.e. the street name transitions from 'Avenue' to 'Court.' Re: your original question... The zoning people are very nice, however, the local builder who built my home, lives in this neighborhood and could probably make what you are hoping to achieve...happen... in one form or another. Re: the property itself : We ALMOST made an offer before, well waaaay before.... it is a GREAT piece of property!!!!!!! Hope to hear from you, Jen Edit-- If this is indeed the same property you are considering, this particular neighborhood is specifically zoned as, "Homes Only. In my original answer, I was thinking more along the lines of an addition to the actual existing home.
  6. Evil, and amazing, and AWESOME.. Bravo!.
  7. Honestly woman, for years you have posted some of the best (and most of the pithiest) replies on this entire board. Hide WHAT??? in her bathtub for a week? Disgard this question if your "trips" happen to follow this board. In that case, would you consider telling us AFTER the big event? I share your pain. Right now am searching my house from top to bottom for my rancher grandparents branding irons. As a child I used to sit on the corral fence and watch the calves get run thru the shutes. I have begged my father to give them to me for years and now my step-mother swears they brought them to me last summer. How could I possibly forget something liike that??? Maybe it is due to having four children, but as the youngest is now a senior...that seems like a stretch. Keep searching for .... well, whatever it is!
  8. That nosy old Southern woman sure has raised some mighty fine boys. She should be proud, VERY proud indeed! :hurray: So by the way, did that same woman ever find the missing April Fools gift? (YET???) :lurk5: Enjoy the rest of your day.
  9. :grouphug: Praying here! Here's hoping they contain him...in one way or another, and resolve this terrifying situation, and take away the immediiate threat to all the innocent parties being affected by his unhinged behavior. No matter what happens, the fear and the unsettled feeling will remain with everyone for quite some time, but at least you would have some closure with regard to this perpetrator. Where is J now? Is she with friends? Please keep updating as you hear more breaking news.
  10. :grouphug: Oh Barb... No! Sometimes it truly seems as though the whole world has gone completely insane. Prepare yourself to be completely upended by this unbelievable turn of events. Nothing about it will make any sense, even if they find him. Our family just went through this very same scenario this past Sunday night. Our oldest daughter is an RA at UCF in the dorm where they had a shooter (with an attack plan) who pulled the fire alarm at midnight in order to congregate a large number of students out in the hallways. His checklist indicated that his plan was "to give them hell." Thankfully due to several utterly miraculous events, his plan was thwarted, and he ended up taking his own life before destroying many others. Now a mere five days later, here comes yet another gun toting and presumably armed person wandering about a college campus? Do they have a description? Any tips? Any tips? Any anything? :grouphug: These are certainly not the issues college students and their parents thought they would be worrying about, are they? Many more hugs to you and yours, Jen
  11. Hmmm...interesting puzzle. Main dish or side? What size crock pot? Recipe sleuths need to know!
  12. This is an older post that contains a lot of vegetarian menu ideas, but not specific recipes. On a side note, it always makes me very nostalgic to "see" Molly. She was such a joy and gift to this board... http://forums.welltr...eat-for-supper/http://forums.welltr...eat-for-supper/http://forums.welltr...eat-for-supper/
  13. :grouphug: to you and your family! I am so sorry to hear that you are having to deal with ths issue. Unfortunately, non compliance with a med regime and the elderly seem to go hand in hand sometimes. You have received some sage advice from the previous posters. Please try to make an extra effort to take care of yourself during this incredibly stressful time (which I realize is much easer said than done.) You KNOW what stress can do to your poor body..... :grouphug:
  14. Thank you so much for the hugs and comforting words. This WTM community is so generous with their thoughts and prayers and has been so for YEARS. Re: a 30 year old in the dorms. This particular dorm is a high rise building designed with four individual bedrooms and two baths in each apartment. The kitchen and living areas are communally shared. Apparently, according to my daughter, occasionally they do have 'older' students, although it is not the norm. Re: not being enrolled in classes. He was in the process of being evicted from the dorm for non-payment of rent. If it is anything close to a regular eviction procedure here in Florida, then (legally) it takes time. I would have never considered that it was possible to be in arrears in a dorm situation (and remain on premise.) Sigh. Lisa, thank you for the blessings. It was Katie....... who has now jumped into full mentoring/mothering/RA mode. She left her dorm door open all day today and will again tomorrow and had tons of "her kids" streaming into her room "just to talk it out." The UCF administration has provided extensive counseling staff to be made available indefinitely on a 24/7 basis. Last night they met with the RA staff and beginning today they are hosting individual counseling sessions for each floor as well. One day at a time.... Again, thank you all, Jen
  15. http://www.myfoxorla...es-seevakumaran Oh. My. Word. The details continue to render me tearful, speechless, and barely able to process. My oldest daughter is a (graduating in May) senior at UCF. She lives in a dorm on campus. In one of the Towers. On the top floor. Of Tower 1 ... She is an RA and "door knocks" each and every room whenever the fire alarm goes off to make certain everyone evacuates. Then they all flock to the stairwell and make their way down and out of the building. Please pray for these students and all of the rest of the campus (not to mention their friends and families) as the magnitude of "what almost was" begins to sink in. Thank you, Jen (Edited to remove pop ups imbedded in the words 'continue' and 'students.)
  16. My short answer... No, I personally would not arbitrarily "abdicate the selection" of a name to anyone who was not even expecting a child. Her request (IMHO) strains the bounds of credibility and is totally inappropriate. I would opt to "pass the bean dip" until such time as it became necessary to go there. I wouldn't even dignify it by discussing it. This isn't a playground and she is not entitled to "claim dibs." Conversely, you may have a boy, or you may opt to select another name entirely. Totally your call. Good luck! Jen
  17. After several years of following this thread in search of great reading material, this year I'm in! The Count of Monte Cristo is my clunky/chunky/dusty/musty volume of choice and I can assure you that it will not be completed in a week. That's all. :001_rolleyes:
  18. Harry & David comes to mind. Great fruit and gift baskets.... They are running a free shiiping offer right now with delivery before Christmas. The code is SHIPJOY www.harryanddavid.com HTH, Jen
  19. Don't forget that conversations occurred in "real time" and were posted directly underneath each other on the main page...which led to many interesting (and evolving) threads. :tongue_smilie:
  20. Have you seen the 1963 classic, Charade starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn? If not, it is great fun and also has several very quotable lines that you may opt to use again!:tongue_smilie: Or what about Operation Petticoat (1959) with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis? Or Yours, Mine and Ours (1968) with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda? Or Please Don't Eat the Daisies (1960) with Doris Day and David Niven? Oldies but goodies for sure! This wil be a fun thread... Jen
  21. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: You will receive LOTS of helpful links from this board! Check out: http://www.ccfa.org http://www.healingwell.com Click on the Forums & Chat tab and then scroll down to Crohn's forum, also the Ulcerative Colitis forum may be helpful Despite the current medical school of thought, I agree with you...diet DOES come into play for many people. HTH, Jen
  22. I think that Joanne first coined this phrase YEARS (think many years) ago on the original board. :001_smile: I believe her trademark comment was something to the effect of, "Pass the bean dip!" HTH, Jen
  23. This cake is quick to put together and VERY lemony...be sure to remove the cake from the bundt pan and drizzle with the lemon glaze while the cake is still very warm.:001_smile: Lemon Cake 1 box yellow cake mix 1 small box lemon instant pudding 1/2 C vegetable oil 3/4 C apricot nectar 1/4 tsp salt 4 eggs Mix all ingredients and pour into a well greased bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Cool cake briefly, remove cake from bundt pan, and coat cake generously with lemon glaze. Lemon Glaze 2 1/2 C powdered sugar 1/3 C lemon juice Mix the two ingredients together and drizzle over the warm cake. Yum!:001_smile:
  24. I have way too much experience fielding this same question from a particular acquaintance who always seems to have an agenda. I now reply, "What do you need?" :tongue_smilie: IMHO, this puts the ball squarely back in her court to spell out what it is that she is angling for... and I am now to the point that I reply, "That doesn't/won't work for me" with no more amplifying information. In my experience, some people will take as much advantage of you as you will allow. :glare: For me, it has been all about putting up boundaries. Good luck! Jen
