  1. What a lovely way to begin the day! How are: (in no particular order) you, the rancher, the kids, one of the cutest babies in the world, everyone else in your family circle, the horses, the pony, the donkey, the garden, the low carb life, and dare I ask...the rum??? What have you been doing? You have been sorely missed since the day you vanished! Welcome back to the queen of pithy (and deliciously witty) conversation. Please come back... and make us laugh. :coolgleamA:
  2. OH NOOOOOOO.... The What: Houston, we appear to have sprung a leak! :glare: The Where: (In the bathroom attached to a dd's bedroom.) The bathroom located on the second floor that is done in tumbled stone tile which will no doubt be coming out soon. The Who: I suspect the shower pan... The How: Water was pouring out of the speaker outlet located in the ceiling of our downstairs half bath while my dd was showering. :confused1: The Why: Let's not go there! Anyone BTDT who would care to offer advice? Please remind me that it could be worse. Happy Sunday Everyone
  3. I love our GE Profile french door, bottom freezer with ice and water dispenser in the door! We replaced a still functioning, (but not at all functional) :tongue_smilie: counter depth GE Profile side by side which came with our house and we all utterly despised. Nothing ever fit and it was ridiculous to be trudging back and forth to the garage (to where the spare fridge was located) just to retrieve or replace everyday meal items...for every single meal. In our experience, the side by side was practically worthless. And don't get me started on the whole counter depth thing! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new french door, bottom freezer. We have the large capacity 26.7 cu ft fridge and it holds everything effortlessly. The ice and water dispenser locking mechanism come in very handy as well. We have a little person (who does not live here), but visits very regularly and the buttons are the first thing he goes for. Poor kid, he is convinced that all the fridge needs is new batteries! :)
  4. Last night as we were getting into bed, both of our cell phones rang at the same time :confused1: (our numbers are identical except for the last digits which are consecutive.) Each phone only rang one time. My husband's phone had a number that came up with Barbados under it. Mine had a number with Grenada under it. We ignored them, however this morning I googled both numbers and apparently it is a widespread scam trying to get folks to return the calls they "missed." Evidently once the call is robo answered on the other end, people are charged upwards of $9.99 per minute for making the call. Just an FYI... FWIW.
  5. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.
  6. You are so kind to check back on this thread. Thank you! Yes, I did indeed check online (before I posted here) and it appears to be out of stock. It is the Kate Spade New York Little Star comforter in size Twin XL (for the dorm bed). Sigh. I will check the stock of the local BB&B, but I have little confidence... It IS available on eBay for an upcharge of course, so now I have to debate...will the exact same thing happen again if I replace it? Rats...I could/should be doing way more interesting things tonight. Couldn't we all? The minutiae...we are all drowning in minutiae!
  7. Thanks to all for the suggestions and the commiseration! They helped my morale, if not my comforter. Yup, I followed the washing instructions explicitly which is why I am so hopping mad. Wash solo in cold water. Check. We didn't even make it to the drying instructions... On the bright side, I was able to determine that I purchased it from BB&B online and paid for it via AmEx, so I believe that I have some recourse with them as well. The silly thing was so darn cute and oh bother, now we need to figure out what to do with it. :confused1: Thanks all! Jen
  8. Nope, you're not the only one with a working husband tonight....and the weather isn't helping (much of anywhere) either. SEA is horrible and so is DFW... :glare: We just want everyone to stay safe.
  9. If you are unable to obtain the previously mentioned replacement bags, I know "someone" :coolgleamA: who used to use/wrap Chinese jump ropes to corral the pesky bags. It was a quick and inexpensive solution, UNLESS "smaller someones" made off with the jump ropes...to play!
  10. Laundry Guru Folks... I am slightly desperate. :) A college daughter returned home for the holidays bearing a bed comforter that had not been washed before. I popped it in the machine and much to my chagrin, the cute little navy blue with white polka dots Kate Spade comforter has "run" and the formerly white polka dots are now slightly purple. I have not put it in the dryer. Would one of those dye catcher packets possibly work if I rewashed it? Any other ideas? Thanks! Jen

  12. Oh. My. Word. I remember your posts about him (and just reread the thread again). It appears that your instincts were spot on.... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Thank goodness you listened to yourself!
  13. Are you familiar with Fandex? My three daughters used to love these many moons ago. Lots of fun and facts! http://www.amazon.com/Mythology-Legends-Fandex-Family-Guides/dp/0761112073/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384123093&sr=8-1&keywords=fandex+mythology Jen (wishing she still had little girls)
  14. S/O of Jean's telephone conversations... and trying to determine exactly who "treats" fibro or related symptoms Has anyone dealing with multiple symptoms, some of which are transient, i.e. joint pain, severe stiffness, muscle aches, sporadic searing pains and whatnot had any success or experience with PT and excercise? (I cannot take NSAIDS due to a GI issue which is also probably autoimmune related.) My current upcoming/referral appointment is with a Sports Medicine M.D. and I am just wondering... does this referral even sound reasonable? My GI doc mentioned "it sounds like fibro" recently, but I think it may well be more like lupus :crying: I guess time will tell... What questions would you ask during the appointment? Any and all input is gratefully appreciated! Dealing with these issues is getting sooooo old! :glare:
  15. Absolutely be wary! Just because someone has been ticketed (and/or checked baggage) on a flight does not mean that they will actually physically board the flight. Thus if someone unsuspectingly "accepts" baggage to check for someone else, they themselves might inadvertently transport items as a "mule." If a ticketed passenger does not initiate their ticket (i.e. board the plane-- on the first "leg" of their journey,) their bags will be pulled before the plane departs the gate. After that first leg, "your bags are free to move about the country" on their own and seemingly of their own free will!~ :) Jen (a member of an airline family)
  16. Thank you for the responses! They are encouraging. :thumbup1: My neighbor is selling some rather 'tired' Step 2 items (a playhouse, a cube climber, and a sandbox with cover) and I am considering re-doing them and passing them on to someone else. Thanks again.
  17. If so, would you kindly share what and how you did it? How did the finished product look? How did it wear after normal use and most importantly, would you do it again? :glare: Inquiring minds want to know. I have 'googled' and can't decide if it is worth the time and effort involved. That is all! Thanks, Jen
  18. :grouphug: from FL. What a lovely post. Goodbye to both your daughter and your socks! :) My last two daughters are both heading off to the U of F in less than three weeks. Yes indeed, the 'times are a changin' around here'. The number of empty and soon to be empty bedrooms upstairs leaves me a bit :confused1: . Sometimes when I am up there, I hear the lyrics to "Sunrise,Sunset" in my head. Enjoy the time you have left!
  19. You have had many, but I seriously believe this is your... Best. Post. Ever! What a heart warming update (and I'm sure many of us remember how concerned you were about this young man.) Congratulations to you both!
  20. Of course! Prayers for a completely uneventful procedure and a quick convalescence. Hopefully he will feel better soon and so will you! :)

  22. Spy Car, you are totally clueing in to what I was recalling about Mariann's hedge that was indeed hacked to the ground on HER property. IIRC, the neighbors wanted to see what she and her family were doing. There are simply no words...
