  1. I was always miserable after getting braces adjusted. I'm surprised by (and jealous of) anyone who had otherwise. Even drinking liquid was painful. After a couple days, it's back to normal. I don't know of any tricks, but I would definitely try, as mentioned, piggybacking Tylenol and Motrin.
  2. Well, I was getting unnecessarily annoyed about this goofy Talk Like a Pirate Day. I must have been annoyed on your behalf and not even realized it! ;) Happy Anniversary!!
  3. I don't remember either, but they are sooo cute when they are born! Running around and eating food immediately and stinking adorable. I can't even remember if I watched her give birth... but it seems like I did, maybe at least once. I think the main thing is that I knew how long to expect her to be pregnant, so I knew when to watch for it. Have fun with them!
  4. For ME, it's the Point of Utter Despair. That point at which it feels like all hope is lost and I want to cry!
  5. As a country-living, usually-barefoot family, this looks like everyday life for me! Pretty cool for others who don't normally get to experience the joy of earth and grass beneath their feet! :)
  6. I didn't know she had podcasts either! Thanks! I attended two of Julie Bogart's seminars last year and they were wonderful!
  7. I do notice the ads and sometimes click on them if they are actual businesses that I'm interested in, even if I don't care about the ad right then. I've clicked ads for Noeo and Math Mammoth, for example. Go for it.:) Why not?
  8. I have no idea, but the video is awesome! I loved watching it! :)
  9. :iagree: That is what I was thinking.
  10. You might be able to find some clips on youtube of less violent portions.
  11. My son gets enormous mosquito bites. They never swell up big till the second day, then they take weeks to heal. My other son doesn't normally do that, but he does occasionally get a huge one. I think spider bites can be extra big, too.
  12. I just placed an order for A Beka Language 3, after looking through a friend's R&S English 3 a couple days before. R&S looks very thorough and I think it would be an excellent choice. However, I think neither I nor my daughter would enjoy using it. Simple as that. :) I don't think you can go wrong with either option. Which one feels like it would suit you and your child better?
  13. If that's "smokin' hot", I wonder what they call "chilly"?? Probably whatever I call "too flippin' cold to even leave my house"!
  14. No structured early work here, either. I started teaching my DD to read at 4 1/2 because she was reading (knew all the letter sounds and was able to understand the concept of blending). My DS was not ready for that until 5 1/2. We just kept casually working through letters sounds up to that point (and counting objects, number recognition). My other DS is 4 1/2 right now and I think he will be ready to start simple reading this year, but it's thanks to Letter Factory and his own readiness. Don't worry about it - casual preschool works great :)
  15. I bought two 1" binders for each of my school-age kids (the Pre-K'er will get a cheapo binder just so he doesn't feel left out). They will have one for science/history (we don't end up with that many papers for those... maybe I shouldn't admit that...) and one for language arts. We could probably use a math binder, as the Math Mammoth pages are piling up in a little folder, but I didn't buy one. I just bought my first Better Binders today, but that is what I chose to do. They look really great.
  16. My kids like it, too :) It's one of my top recommendations when asked!
  17. Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I stopped today and picked up 4 Better Binders and recycled 2 older binders. I had never heard of these binders before this thread and I'm looking forward to having them NOT fall apart before the year is up!
  18. Reading this thread with interest, as my rising 1st grader has been doing the same. Thanks for posting about this game - I have it printed out somewhere around here from when my older child was in K.
  19. I want these!! I will look this week. Thank you!
  20. I do not, but you might check the For Sale/Want To Buy forums :) Good luck!
  21. Thanks for sharing this! I bought the bundle and will save it for Christmas. The kids will love all of this!!
