  1. I am in too! I live in Nor. Cal :scared: though. Does that mean I can't play? ;) Jenn
  2. I chose other. DH is intolerant of sulfites. It is in everything. Dough conditioners, salad dressings etc as suphur dioxide and a few other names. It is sprayed on a lot of fruit/veggies in the field as a fungicide and to to prevent mildew. It is a natural occurring thing so even some "organic" farms will use it. It is naturally in grapes, melon, cucumber etc. wine, grape juice, balsamic vinegar. Depending on the item ingested it presents as bowel irritation, migraines or itchty throat and mouth. Sometimes all three and that is always fun. :( Luckily, he is not in full blown allergy just and intolerance. We had to eliminate it all and then add item to figure out his tolerance. He is also deathly allergic to sulpha drugs. such as many antibiotics and demerol. Jenn
  3. Ok, so I was good girl voted "it rang a bell before...." I Googled and I had to slap my forehead when the answer popped up!!! I was born before 1980.
  4. Not a freak. My childhood was not that great and there a chunks missing I suspect because I do not want to remember. I have brief flashes sometimes of yuck stuff and I push it away quickly. We were a military family and moved around a lot so my memories are not always in chronological order either.
  5. Essentials in Writing is a wonderful program we have used for 5 & 6. Solid grammar and writing with an ability for the student to be relatively independent. I have not used IEW the price and the amount of teacher time did not seem like something we could accommodate. Jenn
  6. Bummer. It always makes me giddy when I find what I am looking for there  Jenn
  7. There are Yahoo groups that people post lesson plans they have already created (non copyrighted programs) I have been able to download many different programs. The groups are broken down by subject, math, LA, science etc. You might try seeing what others have done. Jenn
  8. My DD used it last year. She really liked it. I liked how it was able to take big concepts and explain them without talking down to the student. Mine DD was older when we started so we only did the one book as she was wanting something more. She did not care for the notebooking journal but she is not a notebooking kind of kid. I will use it again with my younger when she is ready. Jenn
  9. I have no advice just prayers and hugs. I never got over wanting another even though my DD1's birth was traumatic. And then one day it happened after years of not trying to prevent it but not actively trying make it happen. My girls are two months shy of seven years apart and I still feel the longing for more. I have had to take the if it happens it happens approach or it would consume me. Jenn
  10. I watched this and am now half way through a pot holder. Thanks so much for posting! Jenn
  11. I only know what I see from the catalog and word of mouth about MP but I am told it is a workbook based curriculum and Sonlight is far from that in my opinion. So it is hard to compare as they are very different approaches. My DD did Sonlight D last year and found it to be very fun reading and enjoyed it a lot but found that for her is was not challenging for her and she likes to be challenged. But she is very advanced in her reading abilities and I did not have time to figure out how to supplement it to enhance the Core. We might be going back to Sonlight this next year with Core G. If your child loves to read then Sonlight is wonderful. If they do not like to read I, personally, would not do Sonlight. It would be a battle everyday. Jenn
  12. My 6th grader is using them this year. I ordered the Hewitt Homeschool tests for them. She reads 2-3 chapters a day andget to practice her outlining and narration skills by keeping a note book with the main point of the chapters. This then becomes her study guide for the tests. I am using this as a way to teach my DD the study skills that will be needed in 7th and up. If she gets stuck we work together to find the answer. Jenn
  13. We don't have soda in the house because I have a Diet Pepsi problem. :scared: I occasionally buy one (20 oz) when I am out but if it is in the house I will drink it all. In college I drank upwards of 2-4 two liter a day and still slept all night. Both daughters have had sips because they were curious but neither likes the carbonation so allowing is not an issue but if that changes it would have to be for a special occasion or out of their own money. Jenn
  14. Here is our beloved white Boxer Po as a puppy. And at his first 4H dog show. He is almost 2 now.

  17. Also the customer service at Homeschool Tracker Plus is amazing. They are so sweet and they have a forum too. I learn so much just reading old threads. You can do all that on HST+ . I print out a weekly grid for DD11 and hand it to her on Monday and away she goes. I teach when she needs it and help keep her on track. You can put time on everything also. Jenn
  18. I would like to contribute a square. Jenn
  19. I signed up for one month of online and did not like it. It does not have the features of plus and since I have plus on the laptop it is portable for me. Jenn
  20. I will have a 7th grader and a K'er next year also Math: MUS Pre Algebra/Algebra Writing: Finish WWS1 and move on to WWS2 (hopefully) Grammar: Grammar for Middle School, A Sentence Composing approach. Vocab: Wordly Wise Book 7 Science: Apologia Physical Science Latin:Latin for children B Bible: Not sure History: Considering History odyssey, or SL Core G Lit: Not sure yet. Look at Lighting lit, or if we go with SL Core G use that or Veritas or Memoria. Ack so many choices!! Jenn ETA: Typos. :) Changed to much. :) See new post
  21. That's a tough one. I think that if it is not showing obviously then I would not say anything. If it is obvious I would gently ask in as casual manner as possible during a conversation.......if that question can be asked casually. I voted other. ETA: I guess it depends on the circumstances and where the info came from also. Jenn

I make bread in my KA all the time. In fact it is my go to appliance for any dough making. Have fun!! Jenn
  23. My stepmother is English and we lived there many years ago. That is where my love of sprouts started. Sunday roast leg of lamb with mint sauce (not jelly), roast potatoes and brussel sprouts and gravy! My mouth waters thinking about it!! Jenn
