BlsdMama, That wee baby is so delicious! By: I feel that MND is less likely all the time Do you mean: You are feeling pretty strongly that a Lyme diagnosis is the correct path? This is a long journey! Prayers for your complete health and healing. And as you continue waiting... -Rebecca

PS We do all kinds of things like you mentioned: making a plate before grace bringing in our own food serving food from our own bags I always! pack food separately. -Rebecca

I read some of the comments but not all. Goodness. I can't imagine how stressed out I would feel dealing with that many potlucks regularly, I absolutely would provide food for my own family without a care at all. If family members were going to eat potluck food, I would also bring a dish for the potluck that my allergic kid(s) would not eat from at all. If I grew a close relationship with someone who shared our extremely severe allergy, perhaps I would figure out a way to share/bring food but that has never happened. However, we have never been in a situation with so many potlucks. We could never afford to make large quantities (to share at a potluck) of allergy safe food. We could bring a dish. In this situation I would do what budget and safety indicate. For us, safety trumps all and I have one child who could never ever eat at such an event. -Rebecca

Have you considered the Wingfeather Saga by Peterson or Books by Chuck Black? My boys have loved ALL of the Chuck Black books. There are also many, many excellent books by Douglas Bond. N.D. Wilson writes intriguing fast paced novels that my sons love but I am not sure if they will meet your criteria. They can be spooky. Lamplighter Publishing sells beautiful, hard cover keepsake books that are interesting and definitely Christian. Their catalog lists titles by ages of children/people so you would have a guideline. Patricia St. John has written some lovely, interesting novels. However, some of my boys have not liked them (Treasures of the Snow, for example). C.S. Lewis and Tolkein are favorites here. Marguerite Henry books - while not Christian- have also been very well loved. We have also enjoyed many! Rosemary Sutcliff books. These are not Christian per se but they have been a key part of our library and literary journey. You would want to screen for content. They are powerful, moving, historical books. They also loved Scripture Sleuth books and the Footprints in the Barn series (Castleberry- I think) I suggest looking at Heart of Dakota's Drawn into the Heart of Reading packages. She lists selections for sons that have been carefully pre-screened. She provides a variety or Christian and secular works. I hope this helps! Rebecca

Have you considered using just Notgrass? We used it with SL Core 100 but it is designed to stand alone. -
Web Design for Homeschoolers
Rebecca replied to Rebecca's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Thank you so much! I did find Computer Science at Derek Owens but I don't think it is online. I also found another Introduction to Computer Programming at Homeschool Connections. -Rebecca -
Hello! The only class I have been able to find on beginning/intro Web Design is at The Potter's School. Does anyone know of any other options? The Potter's School class takes place on my sons' Scout night. :( Thank you! Rebecca

I am also selling on Ebay and a whole bunch of my items are listed as fast and free shipping and I have no idea how that is enabled. I do offer free shipping but I did not enable fast and free. I haven't figured this out yet. I feel ya! I am really sorry about the loss that your shipping issue has caused. :( -Rebecca

Colleges for evangelical STEM family
Rebecca replied to tj_610's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
just wanted to chime in that one of the Engineers I know from Grove City is a female and she is amazing. It was her descriptions of classes and discussions that put Grove City on my list. She is married now and still working in her field. -Rebecca -
Veritas Press Online also offers a Fiction Writing Class that looks strong/good. (The Hemmingway literature did give me pause. I am pretty confident my son would not enjoy that at all.) It is more expensive and the section options do not fit in my soon-to-be senior's schedule- but I am putting it here in case it helps someone else!

Sure! Can you see it here? The Potter's School- Creative Writing I found it by going to courses. They are listed alphabetically. -Rebecca

As I was searching The Potter's School, I happened upon their Creative Writing Elective. Does anyone else have a good choice for a course like this? This course looks very! interesting for my writing rising senior. I am wondering if it is actually good and if anyone has taken it or another course like it.

I have been very impressed by people I know IRL who graduated from Grove City. Both Engineers. It is a long drive from NC. -
Hello, Maya Inspektor's English language has gone to wait list. Can anyone recommend another favorite instructor for this? I am unexpectedly considering enrolling my junior. Thanks so much!! Rebecca

Are you looking for grammar and sentence structure edits and/or content advice( aka flow, logic, convincing sequence, etc)? I think this is a great idea! -Rebecca

I meant the Lysol spray that has the red cap. This is the hard-core lysol that I learned about here! -
I Quit! I just...Mondays, Daylight Savings time, winter storm in March
Rebecca replied to Ginevra's topic in The Chat Board
I had two children throwing up every thirty minutes from 3 a.m. until 11 a.m. (or so). I am traumatized and overwhelmed. We have literally been sick (as a family for months... March is the third month). So overwhelmed. Exhausted. I was driving in the dark to Shoppers this morning, emergently buying gatorade, lysol (they had the red lid- thanks Hive for that tip!), crackers, water, toilet paper. The pending storm has filled me with doom. O, I have all the Monday feels. -Rebecca -
FWIW my son is dairy free and uses ACV on his skin. As in no dairy at all. Zinc did not help. Zinc with echinacea does. His skin is still a challenge. :( Insurance would not cover the topical antibiotic face wash.
