  1. Why is the teacher telling you this? Is it simply due to you sitting in on the lesson, taking notes? How does she know how involved you are in the daily practice? It would seem to me she would be pleased with his progress and the attention to correction. So - my children take a lot of different music lessons from a wide variety of teachers. The string teachers all require a parent sit in on lesson and take notes until the child is 13. All the teachers welcome the parent to sit in on lessons and support home/ daily practice. The one teacher we had who liked the parent to be the most hands off actually taught them the most bad habits and incorrect technique. I am not anywhere near as involved with my kids practice due to time constraints and family needs as I wish I was. My husband sits in on the string lessons for the younger two. I am not sure if he takes notes like he is supposed to! I say this to also share children can make great progress on their own -even at a young age without as much involvement. Truly, I would go with your heart and gut and what you are comfortable with...even if that means seeking another teacher.
  2. Thank you so much Lori. He is a gifted writer(truly) and also very aware of the salary component of careers. I will read through everything carefully and be back!! We have discussed Editor possibilities in the past but not to see the actual salary yet....
  3. My oldest high school student is feeling more and more confirmed toward pursuing a career path that would require history/lit/English major or double major. What kind of career would a focus on history lead to? Thank you for your help!
  4. Muttmomma, If you would like more specific help -please PM me. I would be happy to help. I am so sorry it is so hard and so stressful. I totally get it times 1000. -Rebecca
  5. Muttmomma, You also need to send a copy of that letter to the proper department in your county. Call them on the phone on Monday, speak to them personally, and email them a copy of this letter. I know this from personal experience, I am sorry to say.
  6. Personally, I disagree that you should be held responsible for the rest of your lease after all you have done to provide tenants. I do think you have a legal case. Again, contact the county.
  7. You need to get the county involved. There will be a department that oversees landlord/tenant legality and will protect you from this kind of behavior. I would absolute 100 percent do this immediately and document EVERYTHING in writing. You will most likely need to submit your written document to the correct county department.

  9. Regarding the water, I found it very very hard to drink enough. Leaking fluid out of your spine adds a different component to your water needs. I had that issue too. I was also nursing.
  10. I was very scared of the blood patch. I found the whole thing:botched epidural, blood patch...very traumatic. It was worth it, though, for me.
  11. I had a spinal headache after one of my deliveries. I did get the blood patch done. It worked immediately. My headache also did not completely go away laying down but it was much better. I would check in with your doctor. I felt the pressure going up the back of my head. It was not a typical headache.
  12. Does it feel better/ change when you are laying flat? And get worse when you are sitting up and standing/moving around?
  13. I have read this thread a couple of times and every time I have this same little glimmer...so I am going to share it. Maybe it will help! My two oldest kids are boys ages 14 and 15. My question/thought has been: how are you pursuing relationship with your son? I want to be a voice of strong influence in my sons' lives so I work to build our relationship apart from school/academics and responsibilities. When things get rough/ugly, I try to work even harder to build a tie with them. I take them out for a soda one on one. I listen. We spend time together. I would definitely be commending him regarding this job he pursued and secured and trying to speak some wisdom into his life around that. I can't remember all the subjects your son is not completing....brain fog. So no help there. I don't know if this helps at all. I thought I should share. -Rebecca
  14. What a lovely mom MyThreeSons! She thought I was reacting to the prednisone and doxycycline so I stopped both of those and now I am on Augmentin. I hope it works? The doxycycline was really working for my chest...but the skin on my face also started to burn! So I had to stop it. Ugh. Tonight, I am feeling much better from all the side effects.
  15. Well, I think I might be having a weird reaction to one of my medicines. :( I am waiting for a call back. I have a very weird headache and sinus pain in my teeth and mainly on the left side of my face. My head hurts sharply when I cough and when I move around. Pain pulses up the back of my head. This stinks.
  16. My 10th grade son is taking this Wednesday at a local Christian school thru our oversight. They offered three test prep sessions that he could not attend because of a conflicting out of the home class (es). I found two practice tests but have not administered them yet as we got very sick. Perhaps tomorrow?
  17. Thank you all so much. I am on day 2 of my antibiotic and very grateful to say that I can tell it is working. I spent the day on the couch yesterday. :( I am resting much thru the weekend... I spent the last two weeks in this dark tunnel of sickness wondering how the world could seem so well when we (and especially me) were all so sick. I want to get out of the tunnel! I am keeping "chill" cause if I move too fast, I cough til I gag. Bleh. All the stories help so much. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
  18. The BTDT stories and hugs are helping. Thank you.♡
  19. Fatigue, misery, fever, wretched cough about sums it up. It is hardest with my high maintenance Littles 4,4 and 2.
  20. I was just diagnosed with pneumonia today. :( I have been very sick for 11 days. I have doxycycline for antibiotic. Any advice? I am not used to be this sick. :( One of my kids was diagnosed with ear infections in both ears this morning from this same illness. I guess I need some virtual comfort, Hive. Rebecca
  21. We have enjoyed Gliga violins at violinlovers.com for beginning students. I have also been pleasantly surprised by Shar at sharmusic.com. My kids all play piano for at least two years while also learning a string or other secondary instrument. It does very much help with note reading and other musical skills transfer. Two of mine have very strongly made a string (violin and cello) their primary instrument. They both still take piano and don't want to stop because it helps their string playing so much. I think you will find that most serious string instructors will use the Suzuki books to teach from even if they do not teach "pure" Suzuki method. This has been our experience. HTH!
  22. Thank you all so much. My DH is not on board with red/auburn hair for me...although I might like...I have a bit of red in my hair now and in my genetics. What are my other options if I want safe possibly organic hair color? I am probably maybe 25 percent gray and going grayer rapidly....
  23. Tell me about using henna products to dye hair! I want to color my hair (to cover gray)....I am not keen on chemicals and I can't indulge in hair salon fees. What is your favorite brand? How do you apply it? How do you protect the house??? I have dark brown hair. Thank you!! Rebecca
