  1. I haven't been on in a while... dear heavens, I've missed you all, and I think this thread makes it obvious why!! :D Shoe... really, it's okay. It happens to most people eventually. It means nothing at all, truly. :grouphug: Now to guessing... I'm putting my bet on Ocean's trilogy, with either Elliott Gould (Reuben) or Carl Reiner (Saul) being the father figure in question. ;)
  2. So glad you brought this up. I finished this the other night and had to stay up and write reviews on it. I mean, I know it's dystopia, and there's not always a happy ending... But come ON! I felt ripped off... After all they went through, after all the plot holes, I was really rooting for them. Ugh. I really enjoyed the first two books, but not a fan of Allegiant at all.
  3. Oh, Joanne... my gosh, how awful. I'm so glad your kids weren't with you, but I'm so, so sorry you're in pain and dealing with this. I am sure they will find the guy, and I hope you take him for all he's worth!! In the meantime, do talk to the social worker to see what benefits you might be able to get, at least temporarily. I'm so sorry... please keep us posted on how you're doing. :grouphug:
  4. She's a doll! I was opening the thread thinking, please be a puppy picture!
  5. I thought I was relatively well versed in beauty tools, but I've never heard of a brush for liquid foundation. That seems... Overly complicated.
  6. Subbing because I have to try some of these!! :)
  7. I'm very glad she's home safely. I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for: absolutely terrified and thinking of worst case scenarios, while at the same time hoppin' mad and going over in my head all the choice words I would have for these people when my child was safely in our house. I am floors that they took this group of kids out, brought them home 4-5 hours late, and didn't bother to take appropriate supplies?!? Did they think this was just like an afternoon at the playground? And if you can't tell by now, this mama bear would not be able to refrain from giving her a piece of my mind. Again, glad she's okay... Get some rest. :grouphug:
  8. Good! I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this, I think chances are excellent that it's nothing at all. However, I'm still glad they are taking this seriously and sending you for testing. Please keep us posted, let us know when you hear anything. :grouphug:
  9. Shoe, I just wondered if you had any updates... Thinking of you and hoping you are on the way to being done with this mess. :grouphug:
  10. It's probably nothing, and yes, I know a couple women who have rather "fibrous" breast tissue. However, I'm shocked by your doctor's reaction.... I don't want to alarm you, but I have known more than one woman who got breast cancer before 40. (And I see that while I was posting, several others said the same.) Chances are probably small that it would turn out to be anything serious, but it really would be best to have it checked further. It would be quite reasonable to have a sonogram or mammogram and have a specialist look at it. I am sure it will turn out fine, but do follow up on it to ease your mind. :grouphug:
  11. BBQ Pork Sandwiches, not sure what sides yet, and homemade apple crisp.
  12. Oh fun... I wanna see everyone's shoes. :) If I did this right... Here are my new red sandals I got a few weeks ago. And the dusty blue shoe, as you may suspect, belongs to my son!! Dang, didn't work... I'll try again.... Success!! ;)
  13. I'm so sorry that you are STILL going through this. It's ridiculous... But I don't need to tell you that. :grouphug: Take care of yourself, and make whatever arrangements for care will help you end this and start the healing process.
  14. (((Hugs))) to you, Faith. This is brave of you, and I'm looking forward to hearing more of the story.
  15. Wow, that is a lot of hair... What a sweetie! Congrats, Granny!! :)
  16. Oh for the love of all that's holy, why did I open just "one more" thread before turning in for the night?? Now I need to stay up for a while, or I'm going to dream about terrifying clowns singing Barry Manilow songs.... Her name was Lola... She was a showgirl... :D
  17. Yes. We're looking at private school for my DS for secondary, and both of the schools we are considering, both Christian, use secular biology and life science texts. That's important to us. There are others in the region that teach YEC exclusively, and that's one of a variety of reasons we won't consider them.
  18. I gotta start reading this blog. :) And I too agree we need more community, more support... But yes, that particular phrase rubs me the wrong way, too much baggage, I think. How about, "Can't we all just support each other, or at least get along?" Not as catchy, I confess... ;)
  19. I understand that. My point is that it is requiring everyone to have coverage (hence theoretically making coverage "universal" though not single payer), but that will not solve many of the problems people are facing.
  20. No, we know that Schroedinger's cat was in the box. We just don't know whether he's alive... :leaving:
  21. Yes, this. Universal coverage is nice, but I don't know that we're going to be in any better shape if no one can afford to use what benefits they have. Also, with the links posted above regarding new patients and wait times... I question whether we will get acceptable, let alone excellent care across the board.
  22. I didn't notice, did the article mention location? Oh yes, there it was, Seven Bridges Road... :D Note to self: must introduce son to Eagles music.
  23. Joanne, thanks for sharing this... Although it was incredibly hard to read. That poor girl... And all the others like her that have gone through the same thing. I just don't understand a value system that lets kids think something so horrific is a "prank" and no big deal. Or that lets adults shrug it off. My heart aches for that family. What is *wrong* with people?!? (Rhetorical question...)
  24. Oh, Scarlett... I am in tears for you, and for the friend who left you all far too young. I'm so very sorry. :grouphug:
