  1. Bumping in hopes someone has tried this out! :)
  2. We've loved and enjoyed the Island and Town levels of MCT LA. I was considering getting parts of the Voyage level for spring. I saw G3 classes listed on the big online class thread on the Logic board, and hadn't looked at it before... they have some great options. And, I see they have one this spring for MCT Voyage. If anyone has had a student take this class before, a couple questions. First, I see you have to buy just the student books for Grammar Voyage and CE II. Do they do analysis in the class, as in the practice books? Do they touch on any poetry or essay topics in the class? I assume it's minimal if any since they don't ask for the books. Finally, do you feel the cost was worth it... MCT is a rich program, and not cheap as it is, so I'm wondering how much learning is added to what's already there, if that makes sense. Would love to hear any experiences!! :)
  3. Yep, have it set to record tonight. I waited to watch on PBS. Can't wait!!
  4. Singing the same blues here, LOL. I did manage to clean up and file some school stuff earlier in the break. The school area looks neat and clean... Can't I just leave it that way?!? ;) We are simplifying a bit this semester. Not using a hundred different resources, not buying a bunch of extra books, etc. So I'm hoping that will help somewhat. I need to gear up and do the lesson plans this afternoon. Objectively, it really shouldn't be that hard, but it just *sounds* like so much work!
  5. They make a "rich" version of All About Eyes that is supposed to be heavier moisturizing: http://www.clinique.com/product/1683/15601/Skincare/Eye_Lips/All-About-Eyes-Rich/index.tmpl I personally just use the regular. They also have a few products in the Moisture Surge line, Including a new intense version I haven't tried. I love these products when I'm really dry, although it haven't tried them specifically for my eyes so I'm not sure how well they'd do.
  6. My eyes and skin are very sensitive. I have always had the best luck with Clinique. I've also been able to use most Bare Minerals products. And Aveeno works for me as far as cleanser and moisturizers, I think they also have an eye cream. I am with you on the Almay... That and Neutrogena are always said to be good for sensitive people, and they've both always bothered me.
  7. Loving the cheesy 70's bit. Not reviewing the songs right now, I don't need those in my head all night! But... Those are books *about* books. Surely they receive some sort of exemption... :D Oh man, my dog would love this. He's a standard poodle, who bounds and gallops more than he walks. We suspect he's part Tigger!! ;)
  8. Gosh, excuses, excuses... :grouphug: I'm so glad you're doing better!! Look forward to seeing what you have in a few of those categories, I have plans for some religion and spirituality books this year too. Someone... CupOCoffee, I think... made a comment about spending less time on the computer and more time reading. **Raising hand** I have the same problem here. In fact, I got an iPad early in 2013 and noticed that I really got distracted by it for a while. Less games, more reading in 2014! Eliana, congrats to you and your family on the upcoming little one!! I am in awe of the number of books you read. I know I can do better than last year but I need to hear your secrets, LOL!! And.... y'all can have your kitty pictures this week. They are cute, but I can't contribute! Can I suggest that next week's thread... go to the dogs?? ;) Finished my first book... a cute little romance book, Resisting the Hero by Cindi Madsen. (I occasionally get an advance copy of a particular romance line to review.) I already gave up on The Skeptical Believer... good topic, but the author was very wordy and I just wasn't following him in some places. Next!! I have started Little Women, have another romance book to read, and I think I might start The Happiness Project... read it a few years back but it seems like a good time to revisit it!
  9. Thanks, Robin! A few of those are on my list. :)
  10. Okay, definitely the Dusty Books challenge! I'm going to limit the books I buy in January and February, and read what's on my kindle and shelves. Not saying I won't buy *any* new ones! And I do have a couple preorders that will release in the next couple months. I'll say in Jan/Feb, I'd like to read 10 books I own. My 2013 highlights: 60 books completed, no challenges. Favorites included 11/22/63, The Husbands Secret, Where'd You Go Bernadette, and These Things Hidden. And rereads of the first Harry Potter, Divergent, and The Handmaids Tale. :) Also... I saw the challenge for BaW favorites... Is there a list of those somewhere, or just done from browsing the threads?
  11. I am reading Little Women.... I started it last year and didn't make it very far, so starting over! I'm also working through The Skeptical Believer on my Kindle... It's a religion/philosophy non fiction. Will have to peruse the challenges on the blog.... I'm thinking Dusty Books is a good contender!
  12. Jean, wishing you comfort and relief. :grouphug: We're all thinking of you with love.
  13. Oh wow... I am so, so sorry. What an awful ordeal. Hugging my poodle a bit tighter tonight as well. Many hugs to you! :grouphug:
  14. I'm with Heather... A birthday right after Christmas means a shift out of holiday mode. DS has his birthday on Friday. He doesn't mind if the tree is up for a while, but I'm already out of Christmas mode, LOL! I will never forget the Christmas I was near the end of pregnancy... I'd been having contractions for more than a week off and on, went in for my checkup on the 26th, and my NP said lets induce you tomorrow. So we dashed home and put all the Christmas stuff away that afternoon, knowing if we didn't, once the baby was here it might have been months before we got to it!! :) I'm not quite in THAT much of a rush this year!
  15. I think I get what you're saying... You're looking for a traditional classical, Western Civilization education, which no, you won't get in most public schools, you need it to be secular and you don't want to homeschool. I'd love to find the same thing. Not sure there's much of it out there, no matter where you live. I would even consider a curriculum from the Christian tradition but our only options in my area are evangelical Christian schools, who lean more toward Abeka and Bob Jones rather than classical. Would you consider an online school option where you aren't directly teaching? Or are you looking for a physical, brick and mortar school?
  16. No, but only because it sounds like waaaaay too much work right now! ;)
  17. What a relief! Try hard not to strangle him, LOL. Enjoy your holiday!
  18. Merry Christmas, friends! Enjoy your day, everyone!
  19. Hoping that all is okay. I'm sure that's a very scary feeling! Please update when you can. :grouphug:
  20. Oh Bethany... I'm so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace and may you be granted comfort and strength. :grouphug:
  21. Oh, so we're supposed to make the goodies.... And then save them to share with others? Interesting.... ;)
  22. Uh, Robin? Link please. The rest of us will help you bear the burden of temptation. :D I was on a board break for a while, and kind of dropped off this thread a bit earlier. I have been reading, though, and will finish out with 60 books for the year. Right now, I am finishing up the year with a cozy mystery, Billionaire Blend by Cleo Coyle, then Gabriel's Angel by Nora Roberts. That will make 60 and then on to the new year!
  23. Wow. I think I just found a project for tomorrow! :D
