  1. A friend is bringing home her 7th grader this fall. Looking for curriculum ideas and help for an active, tech-motivated, mythology interested boy who isn't a huge fan of reading. What say you, Hive? Parents of incoming 7th graders? What are the best things you're using?
  2. Seeing this thread I just checked out their website. It's awful. Even if I had wanted to order, I couldn't figure out how to do it and it was completely unappealing.
  3. My daughter has strong memories of very very early events. Younger than a year.
  4. "Mom I know you loved to read when you were a little girl and I like to read, but I am not going to LITERALLY spend all day reading like Mimi says you did. I just don't think I'm that kind of kid." Ha!
  5. Hurl? Really? This post is really offensive to men. :-(
  6. I think price sometimes = less work for mom/dad to do...but not necessarily better.
  7. My DD is going to love this. She's been making herself "To Do" lists and a daily calendar for a few weeks now!
  8. I definitely use DH to bounce ideas off of and he listens to me go on and on about curricula once in a while...but I definitely don't need or want him to be the "principal".
  9. My Big Green Pocketbook The Ink Garden of Brother Theophane
  10. I was actually wondering if anyone has ordered and found that the shipping has gotten better/faster?
  11. I have yet to meet a homeschooled child who didn't proudly tell me their grade. Interesting.
  12. Can you give an example of a typical day?
  13. Is AWANA only for Baptists? It only seems to be held at Baptist churches in our state. Please advise as I think it looks interesting!
  14. Is there anywhere to see what materials are actually used in each grade?
  15. Is Jot It Down really only available as a digital download? I hate that :-(
  16. Thanks for sharing your story!
  17. I'd send at least $250 I think...and encourage her to take only some of it out with her each day.
  18. I think I'm still going to just start with Y1U1...the books from Primer are reused in Y1 and DD would not be thrilled to do it twice.
  19. Oh I know that...but I wonder why Bookshark would not allow a choice for first grade readers...
  20. Why does only 2nd grade have leveled readers?
