  1. A little birdie told me that these Slingshot Animals might end up in the kids' stockings.
  2. We just started our first "full" year of homeschooling this fall. So, I'm still struggling to figure out how to work it all in, coupled with my laziness, lack of organization, etc. So we haven't done great so far. I'll figure it out, though. Hopefully before DD10 is ready to graduate high school. :D The biggest thing that needs to be worked on is ME. Organization, consistency, attitude, etc. Once I get that figured out, the rest will fall into place. Hence, my participation in the organization (GTD) thread.
  3. Certain people, yes. Not so much anymore, but when in NC I quickly learned with of my "friends" and neighbours were actually just looking for last-minute, free babysitting. Soon, I was always booked, busy - heading out the door to do X or go to Y, or was sick or had "sick" kids.
  4. Well, I haven't read, reserved, or looked for the books at the library, yet. BUT, I have started setting up my "Command Central" or "Household Binder" system that I've been meaning to do for the past, oh, 7 gagillion years (or so it seems). :D This way, when I do read the books and start making my "robot checklists", I'll have somewhere to put them and find them!! First though, I started sorting, shredding, recycling the paper build up from the past year that I haven't been keeping up on. It burned me out so much that I went to bed at 10:30 last night! I usually go to bed between 1 and 2 a.m. LOL I guess that is the answer if I want to force myself into a get to bed earlier routine...make myself deal with paperwork close to bedtime. I couldn't even browse the net or read a book afterward. Brain. Overload.
  5. Pretty sure I'd look at a list like that, say "F it", and stay in bed reading a book or two all weekend.
  6. I have no advice on the "best" pencils. We have enough free, and purchased (from PS years) to last both kids through high school, I think. :) I STILL got them each a package of 10 Smencils for their stockings, though. Yes, I'm a sucker for "office supplies", especially ones that smell yummy.
  7. There does seem to be a problem in that you have to re-click to follow any threads IF you post on them. If you're just reading they will stay followed. As for notifications, all the blue writing in the notifications list is clickable. If I want to re-read what I wrote that somebody quoted or liked, I click directly from the notification list to open each in a new window. So far I haven't experienced there not being new content on bolded titles.
  8. I don't have advice for most of your questions, but the one I might be able to help you with is writing her letters backward. Here is an article on Teaching Cursive First.
  9. I will never purchase a front load washer. I've used them at my SIL's, friend's, etc. when visiting. I hate them. I do not think they get the clothes clean at all. Not only do I have a top load washer, I also have a top load dryer. :001_wub: I love it. But, I'm 5'8". My short SIL doesn't appreciate my dryer. :p
  10. My kids still look for the eyes in the back of my head some days.
  11. School as normal until the family gets here, then DH is taking time off from after Christmas through the first week of January, so we'll probably start back up in the second week of the new year.
  12. Praying for her to continue to grow and be strong.
  13. I will have to keep an eye on that, then. Ok, I had trouble finding it for a minute. I had to click on More Reply options to even get that box to come up. If I want to follow a thread I'll have to make sure to click on that, instead of just in the quick reply box.
  14. I honestly don't remember the processional or recessional music. I'll have to watch my wedding video and find out. I do know that my good friend sang Trisha Yearwood's "You're Where I Belong" at the signing of the register. She was phenomenal.
  15. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: To everyone who is not "feeling it" this year. BTDT! This year, I'm about halfway. I'm not totally in the Christmas spirit, but I have done some shopping...as in last night, I thought "Oh Crap, it's cooooooming!" so I got on Amazon and clicked some things in to my cart and ordered them at 1 a.m. I'm usually done by the first of December except maybe a few stocking stuffers. We did put the tree and a few decorations up the day after Thanksgiving (which we went out to a restaurant for!). The rest of the decorations....went into the Goodwill donation box because I'm ALL about simplifying and decluttering this year. Christmas meal, again, I'm simplifying. We're grilling. Steak, potatoes, salad. I called my family who will be visiting a couple days ago to find out everybody's favorite cut of steak so I can go shopping. We'll bake Santa cookies on Christmas eve. I have an apple pie from a "famous" apple pie bakery in the freezer and that will be dessert. My Mom got to the point that she hates the holidays. Because, like mentioned above, it was all work for her and play for everyone else. I'm learning from her mistakes so I don't have all of these big production traditions to try to live up to year after year. K.I.S.S. is my new life mantra.
  16. I think it might just be responding in general, because I haven't visited the boards from anyplace other than my computer and it unsubscribes me, too. It only seems to unsubscribe me from the threads that I reply to, and not the ones I have for reference, so I think that's it. It has something to do with posting on a thread.
  17. I'm a pro procrastinator.

We should form a union. Same here.

    2. Just Kate

      Just Kate

Oh my...me too! I wan to join the club!!! (or union - whatever)

  18. Ok, so I'm NOT losing my mind. The same thing is happening to me. I follow a topic, but I have to keep hunting it down and "following" it again. :glare: I've never clicked on the Unfollow, but for some reason the board decides to "unfollow" for me. I guess I'll have to make sure to bookmark threads in my browser until this can be resolved.
  19. No need for a new thread. That is exactly what I'm looking for. Like I said in the OP, I didn't really know what exactly I wanted to ask or how to ask it, but it had something to do with making school better around here. The wonderful responders here are helping me to flesh it out. I love it! Angela, welcome back! I just yesterday found your Latin thread. It is GOLDEN! I'd love to "hear" anything you've got to say.
  20. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: Hopefully the familiarity and comfort of home will be what he needs for complete healing and recovery.
