  1. It would depend. How long ago did it happen, does the price reflect the history, what is "the vibe" of the place - (you know how some places just feel gloomy and depressing and others feel light and peaceful, or is that just a me thing?). Etc. It's not an easy yes or easy no, IMO.
  2. @Grace Hopper @Idalou I wasn't offended by your posts, and I wasn't offended by the opening scene of the movie. I understood the reference, even if I couldn't name the original movie off the top of my head. I wasn't even necessarily only speaking to this thread on this forum, but the broader conversation on the worldwide web about the "how dare you" misunderstand or expect something else from this movie, this reference, this director, etc. People are being scolded for not loving parts or having a different opinion, etc. FWIW, I understood the opening scene reference, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I attended with adults. I personally have zero complaints. But i still find the tone of several of the conversations (not just here) bizarrely condescending if someone doesn't know or understand Greta Getwig's "feminist mission to smash the patriarchy through film" or whatever you're *supposed to know* before watching a movie she directed. As I said before, we are all consuming material that has been influenced by something else. Do I have to know who Kepler is and everything he contributed to astrophysics before I listen to a Neil deGrasse Tyson talk on youtube? Because that's what some of these discussions feel like to me as an outside observer of the conversation.
  3. It's not like a university degree. A "cultural marker" movie is not a pre-requisite to seeing and enjoying other movies. We're all out here in the wild, knowing very little of the influence that we are "consuming". Everything is inspired by something or someone else. As a non-movie goer or watcher 99% of the time, I had personally never heard of Greta Gerwig or the Oppenheimer director dude before. So many people out there with "what else would you even expect from this person" attitudes, like one must have *done their research* on every aspect of a movie from producers to directors to film studios before watching the movie or trying to converse about it. Another pre-requisite? Frankly, it comes across as condescending, IMO.
  4. Not at all. First come (cash, not interest), first served.
  5. I'm sorry you're on such a rollercoaster of vague ideas and non-answers. I hope that you are able to get a clear diagnosis and treatment plan in place ASAP to get you back on your feet. Continuing to keep you and your family in my thoughts. This has got to be so hard on them too. Hugs. I wish there was something more I could do. Words on the internet just feels so inadequate.
  6. I can and do pump my own gas when necessary, but mostly go to the full-service station or send my hubby to fill my tank.
  7. Have you seen Clutterbug on youtube? Her thing is storage/organization based on whether you like hidden or visual storage and micro or macro categories/sorting. Maybe the problem isn't so much that you have too much stuff, but that you need to organize/containerize it differently. Maybe you need hooks instead of hangers, see through containers instead of woven baskets, doors off closets or cupboards.... or vice versa. https://clutterbug.me/ She does talk about decluttering and different ways she does it, too. But her organization stuff helps me understand and organize the house in a way that it stays more organized because I organize to match how my family (and myself) will actually use the space and put stuff away. Several closets in our house no longer have doors for the visual/simple "putter awayers" in our house. My house is still a work in progress, but it's getting better each time I evaluate and implement organization and storage ideas that work for my people's style.
  8. Um, yes. This. I know a cat or two... or really 16 (between my house, my mom/sister, and brother's houses) that need bloody knife toys to fight over. 😁
  9. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Hope so! If not, I'll have the charges reversed on my cc. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  10. 🤞🏼🤞🏼Fingers crossed for a solid offer on the next few days. Maybe you need to get a St. Joseph statue to bury: https://www.rockethomes.com/blog/home-selling/st-joseph-selling-house
  11. Yikes! I'm so sorry. I'm glad your DD is ok and that your injuries are not worse. As for cute things, here is my mom's kitty George (a girl) laying in the centre of our card game a couple weeks ago:
  12. Love this. Short and sweet but gets the point across (hopefully) that it's a ME thing, not a WE thing. If it needs to be more blunt you can use those words.
  13. My goal is to get decent at replicating animals and make Christmas ornaments of family pets for family members.
  14. It's basically stabbing wool repeatedly and you eventually have an animal, or a tree, or whatever you can imagine. 😁 I find it quite beginner friendly to produce an actual recognizable object and I have veerrrrry little artistic talent.
  15. Just a few ideas from my life: Have you organized all your photos? Depending on how you'd like to do that, there are gift ideas, ranging from archival safe boxes and pens/labels to scrapbooking supplies, etc. I got a beginner wool felting kit for my birthday. I've tried making a couple small things, but I hope to find more time to practice in the winter months. We had a "mostly girls" camping trip a few weeks ago and painted rocks and coloured in adult colouring books to pass the time. It was both fun and relaxing. We all chose a Spongebob character to paint for one of our rock "projects". ETA: None of these are "passions" really, but they are easy hobbies to pick up or put down depending on time/energy available. They do help pass the time.
  16. Upset, no. Maybe (internally) disappointed that I missed out on the experience, but in reality, I'm drowning in gratitude that someone would watch my kid for WEEKS and that my kid had a good time.
  17. I'm glad that the day went well and was a good reminder to you that he touched many lives and you are loved and supported. Floating is the only thing you need to do right now. Your whole existence has been blasted apart and it will take a long while before your parts and pieces come back together into some semblance of a new "normal". Big, big hugs.
  18. Nature's Miracle or other enzyme based cleaner. Spray on, cover in plastic to keep it wet and let it sit. Hopefully the Turtle Wax cleaner didn't have any "sealers" in it that sealed the odor in more, or you may need something stronger to break down that to get back to the chicken sludge.
