  1. I have Invisalign. I just got them about a month ago. I am very very happy with them. It's nice because you don't have to worry about breaking brackets, etc. However, you have to wear them all the time except for eating for them to work properly. They have a little indicator on them so the ortho can see if they are being worn enough (on the teen ones, which I have).
  2. Yes. My husband's work has had the government cut funding and now we are waiting to see what happens. This touches more than just government employees.
  3. My dd is 5 and was in a ballet class for homeschoolers and was bullied by one little girl so much that it was totally crushing my dd's spirit. When I spoke with the instructor and realized it wasn't just my dd being overly sensitive (she is VERY sensitive) I ended up putting her in a different class. I was too passive to confront the situation with the girl's mom and the girl. So...I just want to say I hope that your sister gets results and you sound like a terrific Aunt!
  4. I was born in the 70's and my parents always made sure we brushed our teeth. We went to the dentist regularly. I didn't know there were families that didn't practice proper dental hygiene!
  5. If I am home I wear yoga pants and a t-shirt but I would never wear them out in public. I just feel too self-conscious. I see other women doing that all the time but I just can't. If we go anywhere for normal errands or running dd around I either wear jeans and a nice top or a dress with leggings.
  6. Can I be included? I have DD who is 5. I have a DS in college and a DS who lives with his dad a plane ride away. She's my only that I've homeschooled and my only really at home.
  7. DD (5 almost 6) has ballet class twice a week. She also has highland dance once a week and a homeschool science class once a week. I would love to get her into music lessons. Since we have activities four days a week I just feel it would be too much to add something else.
  8. I purchased from the classified section recently and am very pleased with my purchase. I am very annoyed that I can't leave feedback. I'd really like to leave positive feedback to the awesome seller I purchased from!
  9. Not once a day...an hour a day total. 20 minutes for each meal time. It just means that I have to use that time for meals. No sneaking out the trays to snack! I think that it will go down to 22 hours eventually but right now he wants me to keep them in as much as possible!
  10. I'm so sorry. I don't have any advice but I just wanted you to know my thoughts are with you and your dad. :grouphug:
  11. I really didn't think the whole Invisalign thing through. I had braces when I was a teen and over the years my teeth have shifted. I decided I wanted to get Invisalign since they aren't as obvious! Well...I just got my first trays yesterday and my orthodontist wants me to wear them 23 hours a day. That's an hour more than I thought. I have exactly one hour a day to eat or drink. Even if I had two hours it really wouldn't matter since it is such a pain to take them out, brush and floss, clean them and put them back in. No more grazing for me! Last night I really really wanted some chocolate but I really didn't want to have to deal with the trouble. I can stand to lose a few pounds and I'm thinking this will not be a bad thing. It wasn't exactly what I was going for when I got Invisalign but it could be good anyway. On a side note, it's a really good thing that I only drink water except for my morning cup of coffee because I think I would go crazy if I had to stop drinking a favorite beverage because of these. You can't drink anything except water because it will/can discolor the trays. I guess this was just a sharing, whining moment. Thanks for listening!
  12. I don't know how they are supposed to fit together but I am pretty sure all cookie patches go in the back of the sash.
  13. I usually point to the words for her because I thought it might help but it doesn't. When I ask her why she says that she's figuring out what it says so I am guessing that her head is reading faster than her mouth! She gets frustrated when I keep pointing out that she is skipping little words because it is almost every single sentence. I worry that she is going to stop enjoying reading because I keep pointing it out and she gets so frustrated with me for pointing it out.
  14. When my dd reads with me (her reading, me listening) she skips words. She doesn't skips big words or words that she doesn't know, she skips the short, easy words (to, is, was, etc). If I point it out she will re-read it and it doesn't really hinder her reading comprehension but I'm thinking it isn't a good thing to skip words! Is it a big deal and if so, how do I get her to stop skipping words?
  15. I am thinking about purchasing Grammaropolis for my dd. I think she'd have a lot of fun with it. Is there a difference between the website and the complete ipad app? I was going to purchase the lifetime subscription from the Homeschool Buyers Co-op but then I saw the Ipad app and now I'm not sure. I did a google search but can't seem to find my answer. The ipad app is cheaper which makes me think perhaps everything that is on the website isn't included in the app. Help!!
  16. :iagree: I use Scholaric on my iPad and am very happy with it.
  17. My 20 yo son still wears them! Of course they are boxers not briefs! They always have those type of boxers in the mens sections at stores!
  18. We were married by a UU minister, too. We basically wrote everything out the way we wanted it and showed it to him and he added to it. It was a beautiful, non-religious ceremony. It was very personal and we loved it!
  19. So any plaid skirt? My dd has a few plaid skirts from Gymboree and Kohls, are those acceptable? I'm glad I don't have to purchase a kilt yet!! I feel so out of my element! The teacher did reply to me but really didn't say much about the skirt.
  20. My dd (5) is going to start Highland Dance in two weeks. We have a list of the required uniform for the class and it says "Tartan skirt". What does this mean? Does that mean a kilt? Where do I buy this item? This is very new territory for me. I googled it and I see kilts but they are super expensive and I really don't want to purchase a couple hundred dollar item! I tried to email the instructor but she is has not replied.
  21. I agree...Pink Princess is wonderful. I purchased this dress: http://www.pinkprincess.com/lc911-gr.html and it is gorgeous! I was a little worried because I have ordered from an online store before and the dress was nothing like the picture but the dress I ordered from PP was very well made.
  22. My 5.5 yo is getting an AG doll. Some clothes for AG doll. a science set. Rush Hour game. Books. That's all so far.
  23. :iagree: My grandma has been living with congestive heart failure for the past 15 years. She is doing well considering she is 85 years old. She was very weak and wasn't doing well for a while but she actually started doing better and continues to do well. She also has had 2 strokes so she does have other issues but she takes care of herself and is fairly independent. The point is that people can live fairly normal lives with that condition. Also, being in the hospital for so long can cause a lot of depression so maybe when he gets out that will improve. :grouphug: my thoughts are with you and your dad.
