  1. My dd had a lot of problems with bm's, her tummy would be so swollen and when she did finally go she was in pain and miserable. I refused to give her miralax long-term as suggested by her pediatrician so I looked into natural remedies. We give her jarro-dophilius (open capsule) and mix with pear juice, and a capsule of flaxseed oil. It has helped tremendously, she now goes regularly and is not miserable. ETA: I realize that my suggestion isn't going to help the immediate problem.
  2. It is bad in the Dallas area. A 13 yo girl just died in Carrollton. We are vaccinated but its still worrisome.
  3. I feel so bad for your little ones. That has to be so hard on them. I'd have DH go without you or the kids.
  4. We have special Easter baskets that we use each year. I have mine from when I was little, my mom gave it to me a few years ago. We reuse Halloween buckets too. Our tree is 8 years old and going strong. I will cry when we have to replace it because it is the perfect artificial tree!
  5. I knew you all would understand my excitement. I told my mom and she couldn't understand why I would be excited when I won't have a formal dining room anymore. I tried to explain that we hardly use it anyway but she thinks we need to have one. Lol, obviously she never homeschooled!!
  6. I'm pregnant and have had severe nausea and have been on bed rest since October. Not fun. DH has been terrific, taking kids to activities, running me to the doctor a zillion times, cleaning, cooking, being ballet dad for all the rehearsals/performances for dd's winter performance. He's truly been wonderful. Anyway, we havent done a lot of school since our school area is upstairs and i cant walk up the stairs right now (and I have nausea which is getting better). Since we have a little one coming in early June we have been talking about the changes to the rooms in our house to accommodate the baby. We talked about making the toy room the baby's room, the school area being the toy area and moving the school area to the formal dining room downstairs (which is where our bedroom is and where I have spent every day since October). So since Christmas I have heard a lot of banging and various noises....I finally get up today to find my dining room is being transformed to an awesome homeschool room, complete with French doors. I am so excited.
  7. I say try it. I might give him money for a week or two at a time instead of a month. That might help him not to run out of food early in the month.
  8. When I was spotting earlier ( I am currently pregnant) my OB had me come in and did a sonogram to check everything out. Everything was okay but I felt relieved that I was checked out and saw the baby and the heartbeat.
  9. Very true. DH is very skinny and all through college and even now when he gets the opportunity his diet consists of Mountain Dew, Doritos, and cheap frozen pizzas. Skinny, yes, healthy, no way!
  10. Huh. I never heard that about Plano before.
  11. Lol we are usually up before dd and just wait in bed, anticipating her waking up! We have been known to make noises to try to wake her up because we are so excited to see her reaction. We are weird like that! To answer your question, 6:30-7.
  12. I always tell dd that what she asks Santa for are just suggestions and Santa will choose. I don't limit her asking for only 1gift so we have choices for Santa. In your case I would just tell her Santa must know she's getting it from someone else.
  13. I can't help you. I just decided dd needed one more present that she's really wanted for a while. Poor DH has been to three stores today looking for it. He's headed to the 4th now. Luckily he is just as crazy as I am and doesn't find it at all insane!
  14. I hate the nicknames "sister" "sissy" and "sis". Come on, it sounds so dumb.
  15. Not everyone feels the need to belong to a church. That's not really a solution.
  16. It is rude when the op's son makes it clear he has no interest in their faith and they continue. Parents that raise their child to evangelize should also teach them that when its clear the other person isn't interested they should drop the subject. I personally think that people should not evangelize in the first place, it's just rude to people of other faiths and those who do not believe. How would you feel if my child went on and on about how god wasn't real and didn't stop?
  17. I feel like many of the Christians lack respect for other people's choices. As someone who is agnostic, I feel that we are expected to "be quiet and play nice" but those rules don't apply to Christians. We have been at other people's houses where they say a prayer before a meal. We quietly sit there and are respectful. When those same people come to our home where we don't say a prayer they don't respect that, they interrupt us getting food and sat, " let us pray" or something to start off a meal prayer. I respected them, why do they not respect our differences?
  18. This is happening to my dd too. But she is only 6. Sadly, it's my mom that is doing it. I do worry that it will also start happening with friends more as we live in Texas where everyone just assumes you are Christian. The problem is that she is 6 and has no defenses to prevent it from happening...especially because we haven't introduced her to religion so it is totally foreign to her. It's frustrating to me that people feel the need to share their beliefs with a child. Mind your own business!
  19. I would try really hard not to panic. My oldest son had a lump in his neck and I completely panicked. They tested it and it was nothing but it didn't go away for many months. Just breathe and see what the tests show.
  20. I'm pregnant now and my OB sees me for sickness/non-pregnancy related stuff.
  21. How do you forget to wear underwear? That makes no sense to me! Seriously.
  22. We are also in the same area. Our schools are already closed for tomorrow ( not that it matters to us)!
