  1. Unfortunately, I had Trace Adkins on Pandora last night and this is still what's running through my head this afternoon! Shut my mouth, slap your grandma There outta be a law Get the Sheriff on the phone Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on That honky tonk badonkadonk
  2. Betty- was your dr. by chance Dr. Alessio Fasano? He was at our conference last fall Dancer67- endoscopy would show if there was damage from celiac but not intolerance. Intolerance would require different testiing. Medical testing in the US is-for the major part-funded by drug companies. Cd is a hereditary, autoimmune disease controlled by diet. There's no magic pill so basically no profit. That is changing though. My dd was diagnosed with cd 3 years ago.
  3. Here's my tried and true recipe that's especially good even with hard water. Heat 1/2 cup vinegar till hot (doesn't need to boil) add 1/2 cup clear Dawn. Put in squirt bottle & spray on shower/tub. I usually do it after a shower then just wipe it down the next day. It is slipper so be careful!
  4. Check to see if your local library has an online database called NoveList Plus. If it does, go under More at the top and select Readalikes. This is where you type in an author and it will give you similar authors to try. I find (and patrons tell me) that it's very accurate with the suggestions.
  5. I wouldn't eat it. That would be almost half my carbs for the day and would set off major cravings. But, really, it depends on how it effects you.
  6. I agree w/the not inviting camp. This is about your children and making it an enjoyable occasion for them to show off their hard work. May i also add not to worry about what your pastor thought. I'm sure he's seen it all with families and was sending prayers your way!
  7. OK, I give (and not afraid to show my ignorance)-what's NFP?
  8. That looks like fun!! Thanks! Anyone else?
  9. Killing Lincoln. Prefers an audio-cd if possible. Educational without being dry or too long. She's interested in presidents & historical figures. Any suggestions Hive minds?
  10. Thanks for all the replies-I'm feeling better!
  11. we're hoping this might be the last piece in dds health issues. Her hyda scan came back normal, however, she has had ongoing nausea/pain issues for the last 2 1/2 years. Her underlying condition is celiac disease which caused severe damage to her system before it was diagnosed. The prep for the hyda scan made her extremely nausous, the gall bladder area is very tender w/pain radiating through to her back. It's gotten worse since February but she wanted to hold off, if at all possible, till she finished up her freshman year. The surgeon said 3 days to 3 weeks recovery. Anyone here have any stories that won't freak out an already worried mom?
  12. Sounds wonderful! What a great server-I would have left a great tip too!!! I just had a great low carb dish at Puccini's in West Lafayette yesterday. My dd finished up her freshman year at Purdue and we were celebrating. She has celiac disease and is able to get a gluten free pizza that she loves. They're extremely careful with her order and she's never been cross contaminated. I'm happy we have somewhere we both can eat!! baked roman holiday two chicken breasts capped with thin canadian ham, alfredo sauce, provolone & bacon
  13. My youngest dd has celiac disease and has the same problem with airborne gluten. She can't step inside a Subway or, unfortunately, my DH's Panera restaurant.
  14. Congrats :hurray: Just think of the lifetime changes you're helping him make !!
  15. As a retired homeschooler and former cashier at our library, I don't believe homeschoolers deserve any special benefits. I guess I've heard too many excuses and accusations from the same people with fines over and over again. Returning items on time and renewing on time are just things I taught my dds as part of being responsible library patrons.
  16. Lots of interesting responses-would anyone else like to chime in?
  17. May I ask which library system you use? We have no space concerns-especially now!
  18. I'd like some input on this topic. Our director, in my opinion, has been very heavily weeding out collection. I feel that we're heading towards a top 10 list centered collection without any depth. Because of my strong opinions on this subject, I like other input into what you believe the library collection's role is in serving the community. The changes in our system are very disheartening to a lot of us but maybe I just need to look at it differently. Thanks for any help you can give me!!
  19. Oldest dds college is 80/20 male and youngest dds college is 60/40 with both being known for engineering. Dating pool wasn't on our radar when they applied. However, what we have noticed/they've commented on is how well they're both treated by the male students. I think they're especially aware of it after visiting/hearing stories from friends at other schools.
  20. What about Kate Morton? I've loved them all!! http://www.katemorton.com/kates-work/
  21. In order to understand Olive Oyl, you must first understand her relationship with Popeye...oh....wait....not that Olive Oyl, huh
  22. Oh my goodness-poor baby! I don't have any suggestions but hope you find your answer soon!!
  23. HappyMomofBoys- I just had to say I love your comment-"I teach my kids that we're all on the same team, but we can't all play the same position". Every member contributes in his or her own way. Without actually verbalizing it, that's how we raised our dds.
  24. Oh, it made me cry-we're so critical of ourselves!
