  1. The night santa fell to earth has a nice audio read by the author Cornelia Funke. She has an interesting accent and we all enjoyed it.
  2. I think this is correct. Sprint, Verizon, and Virgin are all CDMA run systems. T-mobile and AT&T use something else. Unlocked phones cannot be used on CDMA. I would double check what was ordered from amazon and what they sent you if you want to cancel verizon.
  3. What did you do for SOTW memory work? If you did any that is! Also in what way did you use the review cards? Thanks!
  4. Egg noodles and ketchup. I do not eat egg noodles or ketchup let alone eating them together. My husband eats this once in a while because he loves it! Super gross
  5. OP I think you are awesome for listening to your daughter and trying to find something that works for her. I think that she is at an important age for taking responsibility for her education. I'm sure you both will find something that works! My kids are really too little for me to have much else to say lol
  6. My kids like AAS. It is one of their favorite lessons. We start after they are reading well and have finished OPGTR. Which was mid Kindergarden for the older two. My youngest is not following that timeline. Monday: review rule cards and some past missed words that are having trouble sticking. Tuesday: new lesson Wednesday: 10 main word list Thursday: half the sentences Friday: last half of sentences It does not take us 30 minutes for even our longest day. Wednesday is our busy day so the lesson is really short that day! Tiles are only used on the main lesson day. The rest of the time they write on white boards.

    BrianPop?

My kids love brain pop! Is there a group that does a cheaper subscription? I found groups the last two years but this year I can't come up with anything. Know of any online discounts? Thanks!
  8. The new phones all format like that. It can not be changed. I got used to it and love it now!
  9. I got my girls first dolls on ebay. I wanted to make sure they actually played with them before I bought new. Many of the ebay dolls are in great condition.
  10. This is how I use AAS. Monday: review rule cards and past missed words Tuesday: teach main lesson Wednesday: test on the 10 words Thursday: dictations Friday: dictations If your child needs time to learn the letters and sounds then you'd have to add that to a day. My kids haven't seemed to need it. I don't really use any of the cards except for the rules. I keep a running list of their misspelled words instead of the word cards.
  11. One of my girls went Roald Dahl crazy. The other read tons of Dick King Smith. They both read all the Romana books and some Henry Huggins.
  12. In 2002 my husband and I went to the Dollar Show to see the epic movie Reign of Fire. It was horrible but stared the insanely beautiful actors Christian Bale and Matthew Mccanaughey. As we walked out laughing I said "we should name our kid Reign" and so four years later we did. Well her middle name is Reign. I've been using it as a login since then.
  13. I love that backpack! I think it's very pretty. We are a Nightmare Before Christmas type of family so my kids have always had skull clothing. My youngest's first hat had a little pink skull. Here she is on Halloween.
  14. My girls are all blue eyed and blond haired thanks to my DH (and my mom.) He is still bummed they haven't turned out to be lefties. One of the girls bats left handed. He was silly excited about it. My dad is also a leftie and my brother bats left.
  15. I only have a handful of people I would call my friends. I think of them all as loving people who want to do right by me. Honestly we don't know what wappened while you were out of the room or what your friends are thinking. They could be going through a real low point over their son's diagnosis and behaviors. They had other kids there to watch over as well. Maybe the kid just freaked out. It could have all happened so fast. Mom looks away to the younger two while oldest grabs the markers. Dad sees son coloring on the desk and goes to get them. He tries but is upset and the boy has a fit. Now the parents have to wrangle three kids, deal with the mess, and are still coming to terms with their son's behaviors. They are embarrassed. In the confusion they took your words to mean not to worry about paying for the table. I'd just let it go. I'd tell your husband you told them not to worry about it by accident. Say you don't want to take it back now.
  16. I don't for the one of the same reasons I homeschool. The schools that are free, I don't want my children attending for several reasons. The schools I do like are too expensive or too far.
  17. I have dark brown hair. I always bleach it first. Usually it turns a bright yellow. Then color over top. It tends to wash out fairly quickly so I shampoo sparingly. I'm thinking of aqua this fall. I've never done greens.
  18. We are going in September too! I just finished all of our reservations today and was looking at bags in Target. Great thread! I'll definently use some of these ideas.
  19. I do not wait for mastery. I just move on. One of my girls had to practice a lot more but I still added new sounds. We just kept working in the older ones too. We use OPGTR which has enough review for us.
  20. We have the ladder and rings linked above with a gymnastics mat. I love the rock climbing area and hope to put some up in out next house!
  21. Thanks for this post! We are starting SOTW and I just began getting stuff together for it. We love memory work.
  22. I'm actually really mad about this! How stupid. What could all the people who signed off on this be thinking? I'm super jealous that the British got to keep the original drawings.
  23. Would it be enough to list several apps you would like to have the kindergardeners use while you engage the oldest? My kids have enjoyed all these at this age. None of my girls are huge gamers though. They top out at 20 minutes unless doing math on Dreambox. My youngest does spend about that much amusing herself on the iPad when her sisters have long school days. Starfall Teach Your Monster To Read Hooked on Phonics ABCmouse Dreambox Splash Math Brain Pop Bob books Reading eggs Endless Alphabet (and others by same co.) Stack the States Lots of interactive books Reading Rainbow
  24. I agree that since you are getting AAS1 for your 7 year old you could also start the older there. For awhile I just did one lesson a day until my quicker kid was at a spot where she was learning. The lessons usually take us a week now that everyone is learning new stuff.
  25. We also use them with MM. They are great together.
