  1. :iagree: You took the words right outta my fingers.
  2. :bigear: Thanks, Faith! You've just solved my "what can I get him for Father's Day?" dilemma! My dh's razor isn't dying, but he's had it nearly as long as yours has and has mentioned the shave isn't so close anymore. Sooo...:bigear:
  3. Not necessarily. http://www.stlouischildrens.org/articles/wellness/the-basics-burns
  4. Y'know, I seriously think I'm going to start snapping pics of similar instances of school signs I've seen for the sole purpose of posting them on Facebook for my extended family of PS teachers who are convinced I'm ruining my kids for life... SOLs??? I can't for the life of me figure out what this *really* stands for, but
  5. This is exactly how our district is. It's actually one of the (many) reasons I pulled my kids out in '09!
  6. Pad Thai w/chicken and shrimp. I seriously believe I could eat it every single day.
  7. Yes, definitely. I cheerfully mixed generous amounts 1000 years ago as a young bride with a really grimy tile bathtub. My husband arrived home I don't even know how much later to find me semi-conscious on our bed. I never went to the doctor over it, but I'll sure never forget how sick it made me. :grouphug: So glad you're ok! And Catwoman, "you ain't right!":lol::lol:
  8. My former BIL wouldn't touch raw tomatoes because he swore the seeds would give you a heart attack. After all, his dad had loved raw tomatoes and had had a heart attack. So, there ya go! It's a no-brainer really. (I love raw tomatoes, but I'm a rebel and ain't afraid of no seeds!) My list: Beets - If I wanted to eat dirt, I'd eat dirt. Liver - I've tried, I've really tried...yes, even the way *you* make it, I've tried. No. Organ meat - Just...no.
  9. http://www.greatsmokyjellystone.com/? We tent-camped here a few years ago and LOVED it. It has everything on your list, and the owners are wonderful. I love everything about the Smokies! We're heading up next week and I can't wait!
  10. Oh, Kari :grouphug: I also lost a son. Grief knows no logic, no timetable, no normal. It has been 16.5 years for me, and honestly, last year kicked me harder - out of the blue - than just about any other. It is something that no-one can ever really understand unless they have experienced it. I am praying for you.
  11. Wow! That does seem like an unusually long time! Originally, ours said something like "unless you owe other taxes or there is a problem, blah blah blah...your refund will be deposited April 24th". Then, when I checked a couple days later, I got the "Your refund is being processed and is scheduled for deposit on April 16th". It can definitely bump up to an earlier date, I hope it does for you!
  12. Have you checked the "Where's My Refund?" on the IRS website? We just e-filed ours last Saturday, and today it says it's due to be deposited Monday.
  13. My girls call their paternal grandmother Meme - (I don't know how to put the diacritical marks for pronunciation, sorry) but it's "Meh-May". I always thought it sounded so pretty!
  14. Weird! I tried replying to gardening momma about the Weed Man company, and got a message that my post would be reviewed and posted if approved? I thought I'd gotten banned for some reason, but I was just able to post on another thread, so I don't know? All I said was that yes, that's the company! I didn't know it was national, but it gives me a giggle every time I see their trucks out. Doesn't take much to amuse me. :tongue_smilie: Here goes nothin'! (Submit Reply attempt #2)
  15. Oh no! How awful for his family :( Prayers continued for all of them.
  16. Ha! Yea, that's the one! I had no idea it was national, but I giggle every time I see their trucks out. Doesn't take much to amuse me. :tongue_smilie:
  17. My favorite business name is a local landscaping company ~ "The Weed Man". Well, at least I think it's a landscaping company...
  18. A good Dollywood tip that I didn't find out about until our 3rd visit or so is that they provide free ice water at all their concession stands. We have some of those refillable mugs from there, and we always take those and a whole bunch of those flavored drop-ins. Saves BIG $$ throughout the day. They also have a pretty liberal "bring your own snacks" policy. We love all things Dollywood! Our favorite place to eat in the park is Miss Lillian's Chicken House. Right next to Miss Lillian's is the Wings Over America (I think is the name) live eagle show. It's another of our favorites. When are y'all going? (You can PM me that if you'd rather, or you don't have to, LOL) Just asking because we are hoping to go next month sometime with our tax refund ~ maybe we could meet! Other than DW, I second the suggestions of Sugarlands and Cades Cove. We've never done most of the other stuff because we live in a tourist area as well and have nearly all the exact same attractions. I hope y'all love it as much as we do! :)
  19. But...the title of your post is To correct or not correct? I personally find it extremely rude for a kid to correct an adult. Ever. Even if the adult is wrong.
  20. HUGE sigh of relief!! I haven't commented, but I have been praying. Thanks for letting us know!
  21. East Tennessee. I am in love with the Smoky Mountains and the people there.
  22. Just to give you some encouragement.. About 6 months ago, dh and I were going through some pretty serious marital difficulties. After a particularly disheartening (for me) meeting with our Pastor, I kind of "dropped" my wedding rings on my way out of the church between the door and my car. Ok, I threw them. One band was the one we'd gotten married with, a tiny little inexpensive piece of brushed gold. The other 2 were a more expensive set of band + solitaire diamond. I naturally regretted it once I got home and cooled down, and spent hours searching the area. I was ashamed at my act of impulsiveness, so I hesitated to ask the secretary if rings had been found. I finally did get up the nerve though, and in fact, the more expensive set had been turned in to the office shortly after "the unfortunate ring-throwing incident". I was SO happy to have them back, but my heart still hurt from my throwing away our original little ring. Well, a few weeks ago, I was at practice for my role as a towns-woman in our Easter Cantata, and a couple of the little girls were playing my children. I had never met one of the girls, but I looked down at her hand at one point, and lo and behold, she was wearing my little wedding ring! Her grandmother had found it weeks before, and thinking it was a child's costume ring, gave it to her. I really dreaded re-claiming it and taking her little treasure away from her, but she was the most precious, gracious little thing! She resisted even taking the "finder's reward" money I offered! I eventually did get her to accept it on the day of the cantata, but ANYway, WHAT are the odds that this little girl, whom I'd never even seen before at church, would end up playing my daughter?! We had 100 people in the cantata! Sorry for such a long story, everyone. I'm just still so thrilled to have it back, AND I got the bonus of making a sweet little new friend :)
