  1. This morning was so pleasant... then it got hot and muggy. I'm so tired of the heat too. The next few days are supposed to be quite pleasant. Can't wait!
  2. Thanks for the update. I, too, am sad it didn't turn out exactly as you had hoped, but I'm so glad it is behind you and that it wasn't worse. Now you can move forward with your life without all this hanging over you.
  3. hugs.. I know it must be bittersweet. It's great they're growing up and making lives for themselves, but it sucks to be put on the back burner.
  4. It sends a message that if you have enough money for good lawyers you can get away lightly. Yes, it was a non-violent crime, but it's still not a fair sentence. I hope they throw the book at Lori.
  5. Preach! People are so fickle. It is the same with granite. They see anything except granite as unacceptable. Of course, they want the other homeowner to do it for them... obviously, it's unacceptable to PAY to get what they want themselves. 🙄 The only fake flooring I don't like is Pergo (at least the old stuff) it sounds hollow and looks cheap. I'd take sheet vinyl over Pergo. 🙂 But, I dont' really like wood floors either. We have them in our bathroom - ick.
  6. I'm in the minority and prefer carpeting for bedrooms. But, I understand the appeal of hard surfaces throughout a house. If I were to install something new in the bedrooms (something that we will be facing in the next 5 yrs) I think I'd prefer Luxury Vinyl Tile planks. I installed them in our sunroom. They look like wood - several contractors were duped. It is not slippery at all. If you go with vinyl get the kind with the extra padding on the backside to help with sound. some have cork and then padding on the underside. That is probably the best.
  7. @lovelearnandlive - I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Loved it. I recommended it far and wide and only a few tried and they didn't like it. Sigh. Loved that book. I'm also waiting for her to write another one. @mumto2 I also love Mrs. Pollifax. I want to be her when I'm old. I cannot limit myself to just one all-reaching book. So I'm happily enjoying other people's suggestions. 🙂
  8. I've just started Overstory on audible. It's weird... I'm going to keep going because it has so many good reviews.
  9. I'm enjoying looking at everyone's creations. Please keep sharing! I actually did start weaving at my loom yesterday. I've been feeling so blah about weaving since moving here. I'm not sure if it means I should sell everything and be done or whether its a phase. I just wish it didn't take up so much room - its so much easier to store cross-stitching or knitting items. Why oh why did I pick weaving? 😏
  10. That is great news. I know several people with POTS
  11. such a happy memory you have made. So glad you did it!!
  12. nevermind... found some via Wayfair. No remote, so I'll buy a light timer on Amazon.
  13. with a remote that are in the warm light (not bright white). Do these even exist?? I have scoured the internet and can't seem to find them. The smallest I can find are 33ft. But I have a small space to fill. Amazon's search is pathetic and unhelpful.
  14. I'm glad his first day went well. Job well done Quill.
  15. @Angie in VA I just can't be a Nationals fan. The Orioles was such a happy part of my kids growing up, I could never leave. I've been thinking that I need to get some kind of large lawn ornament for my yard after following this thread. I have an acre of land, surely I've got some space somewhere. 😉
  16. I don't think so. My BIL didn't do anything with my Alexa device to get it running. You have to have electrical switch box (existing switches have this). You can't start it from nothing. It will be additional switch. The one he installed for us was an old switch for a light that is gone and the wall is gone. Instead of re-routing the wires up through old existing walls, he kept the switch box in our crawl space and we use a remote. All I did was decide which wall I wanted the switch on. He said I can add Alexa myself if I want but I think I need an app for that. The beauty of it is you can have multiple remote switches for the same switch. So if I find I need one on another wall, I can put one there without having to hire an electrician and re-wiring my house.
  17. That's what we have. It just sticks to the wall and you put a regular wall plate over it so it looks like any other light switch. My BIL said I could add a app that would make it remote with my phone.
  18. I love the plant.😁 It's as if they're thinking, "Maybe no one will notice how big it is if I put a plant on it" It also says, "I'm going to live here until I die."
  19. My BIL is an electrician and was here today installing lights in our kitchen reno. For one set of lights he is using a remote light switch. He uses this all the time in older houses down in DC where pulling lines through the old plaster walls are very difficult. He told me I can use them for any existing light switch!! And I can do it myself. Whoot!!! That means I can MOVE a switch to a more convenient spot... or I can have multiple spots for light switches. It's attaches to the wall and looks just like a regular switch. In fact, one of them is next to a regular switch so it looks like a double switch. I can even just have light switches in my bedroom for other parts of the house - for nights when people forget to turn off all the lights. I would just use them like a regular remote control (not have it attached to the wall). They can also be used with smart phone technology. I may do that for outside lights. Life.changing.
  20. Well, my kids are mostly grown, so they may know other large families. But, when they were younger and we were still having kids the biggest family had 10 kids.
  21. praying for your husband. I hope it's just the change in barometer pressure that is irritating his sinuses (they do mine). I'll third Elderberry. Drink it several times. Also, Umca if you can find it. Both together should help. I like the one you can put in warm water.
  22. I miss nursing my babies. I'm sorry it was over in a flash. hugs.
