  1. DH and I normally go shopping together on Saturdays. Now that he's back in Indonesia, I'll be shopping with the kids.
  2. In California! I live less than two hours away from a refinery and gas is $4.59 a gallon today. I'm really looking forward to paying $1,650 a month for health insurance next year. That's a house payment!
  3. We are currently paying $1,500 a month for health insurance. Next year we will have to pay $1,650 a month.
  4. Yep, my homeschooled girl is 16 and my ps girl is 15. Neither one of them wear makeup, and while they get lots of compliments for their skin, they are looked down upon. I don't care if they wear makeup. They don't have boyfriends either. I ask my girls, "How is a boyfriend at this age going to get you to where you want to be in life?" I can't imagine having that pressure at seven.
  5. It's all about backlinks. The more keyword backlinks a spammer gets, the higher ranked they get with google.
  6. I get a call from Rachel just about every day.
  7. I have one DD in public high school (her choice) and I have heard FAR WORSE stories. :001_huh:
  8. Dancing Bears is what got my severely dyslexic DS12 reading last year. He had been in public school with an IEP for six years and could read nine words at the end of 4th grade. Over that summer we did Dancing Bears and his reading had jumped a whole grade when he returned to public school for 5h grade. That's when I pulled him out because I knew I could do a better job teaching my DS at home. :) In retrospect, I should have gone with Bear Necessities, which is the industrial strength version of Dancing Bears. I can remember being so desperate to get him reading that I thought it may never happen. I love Dancing Bears!
  9. I have these in 42. They are black and like new. I've only tried them on a few times.
  10. I found out my DS12 has dyslexia last year when he was beginning 5th grade. He had been labeled "speech impaired" by his school in Kindergarten, but no one mentioned Dyslexia until 5th grade. I found out at an IEP meeting. I remember being mad as h*ll no one had told me sooner. I removed him from school the following week. :)
  11. I call my MIL "Jean" because that's her name. My kids call her, "Grandma Jean". I don't really call my FIL anything because we never see him. :001_huh: My DH calls my mom "Gma" because that's what our kids call her. They say she's too hip to be a "grandma". My kids see my mom all the time. My DH doesn't really call my dad anything because we rarely see him. My kids probably won't recognize him if they saw him. :001_huh: I was shocked he actually knew my DD#3's name.
  12. My DS12 has severe dyslexia and I use both high noon books and pathway readers. The high noon books are interesting, but we have had more success using Pathway readers with the workbooks. We do a chapter a day. I started my DS out with Dancing Bears (this is the program I credit that got him finally reading last year), but in retrospect, I should have started my DS with Bear Necessities, which is the industrial strength version of Dancing Bears.
  13. I like cats but they are freaky, I would never have one. We love dogs. Not all breeds are hyper.
  14. My dyslexic DS is 12, and I have him read High Noon books. These books are perfect for the older child. They aren't babyish.
  15. I have a dyslexic son and I would NOT use Time4Learning, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. :) I recommend working on his reading and math out of books. Have you looked at Dancing Bears? Lessons are short and take about 10-15 minutes a day. I also recommend signing him up for Reading Eggs. When it's time for math, sit next to him and read all the problems to him. You could supplement his math online with SumDog, which is free.
