  2. I agree w. Dawn. I'm really working hard to be debt free as well. :) We do clip coupons and can save quite a mint on those sometimes. I try to make practical but nutritional meals from scratch. I have a mental list of where to find the best deals. My recent favorite places to go (before Rainbow Resource ;D ) are homeschoolclassifieds.com and abebooks.com (where some books ship free w/o a minimum purchase amount).
  3. I don't have anything to offer, I'm just curious as to what others have to say. I'm waffling between Apologia, Singapore MPH, and just doing interest led. Thanks for the link, Jessica. :)
  4. We've only recently started supplementing our MUS with Singapore. We finished MUS Alpha and started on Singapore 1A. It's not been overwhelming at all. In fact, it's been very refreshing to have another way for ds to see how math works. After 1A, we'll start MUS Beta & see how it will go from there. :) I love Singapore, too :)

  6. I agree w. the pp's about being present in the room to address the issues. ((hugs))
  7. Oh, wow, what are the chances of that happening?! ((hugs)) I think you handled it really well, too. :)
  8. You're not supposed to put fecal matter in there, nor meat products. The compost piles we've had do not smell. Here's a link to a list :) http://vegweb.com/composting/what-not.shtml
  9. I started because we were going to sell our house, too. Now, I'm on a roll and I'm obsessed!
  10. Last year I seeded some organic grape tomatoes from Whole Foods and actually got them to grow!!! I was so proud. :P Like PPs have said, " I love the idea of doing things from seeds, but I'm far too impatient. " I have to have seedlings for some things, especially since it's Spring and I need to see flowers!
  11. We haven't done the Ancients for 1st and don't plan to do it for next year. We've opted to study American History and then we'll do Story of the World. :)
  12. We had a very similar experience when we moved here. I now nanny for twin boys, part-time. It has helped us significantly in getting out of debt. I really could only do it PT, though.
  13. We have an armoire with doors and shelves. We keep the DVDs in baskets on the shelves. :) I've also heard of eliminating the cases altogether and storing them in those books with plastic sleeves. Dh is way to big of a movie fanatic for me to do that, though :(
  14. I voted "answered," but we really need to get to turning it off & screening the calls.
  15. Laundry. Trying futilely to stay away from the local nurseries. Must get dirt under my fingernails! Clean garage & list stuff on craigslist (while dh is away and cannot object ).
  16. :iagree: We get everything done before the afternoon, but it's not always done in the exact same order at the exact same time. I've tried that & it makes me a bit crazy. :tongue_smilie:
  17. We usually do compy work 2-3 times per week. My ds is in 1st grade this year. I bought Draw Write Now and he'll do 2 sentences from it. I think he enjoys the art beforehand. We'll also do a scripture verse, or short (1-2 sentences) of summary from his lessons. I agree w. the previous posters in that it's more about quality than quantity for me.
