  1. I've been a WTM homeschooling parent in the past. Life has taken a different turn than I expected and we can no longer homeschool. This is my obligatory one post so I can post on the for sale board.
  2. Jennifer, I love the looks of these. Have you actually used them or just a great search-er?
  3. I just made that term up. I wanted to get your attention. I hope it worked.... My ds 7yo, has such a hard time telling how things relate to one another. How a oven and light are similar. How a chair and couch are alike. He should be following rabbit trails from key words... I burned my finger on a match or Our oven has a light when its too hot, etc. Anything I can use to work with him every day to help him see the relationships between objects? Thanks....
  4. Hunter... Would you please look up that Unit Planner title? Please?
  5. Love Love love!!! Wonderful!! I remember when this happened for me too. Nothing like it!
  6. Pam,

I use Webster's speller for phonics following Elizabeth B's recommendations. I learned to read using the Blue Backed Speller, myself. I downloaded the copy in all caps from Don Potter, and we use the whiteboard to teach the syllabary.

  7. Critterfixer, I'd really like to hear how you use Webster's Speller for phonics. I don't own this book but, have looked at it a little on Amazon. Looks very old fashioned.

  8. Is that Jimmy Skunk on your Kindle chiguirre?
  9. I don't know what to do. I know he can read. He is so smart. He just doesn't want to read. We have worked through the Plaid Phonics grade 1 this year. When we come to the reading portions... won't do it. High interest books do NOT interest him. Books about things he is passionate about do not interest him. I have to bribe him basically to get him to accomplish his school work. What would you do?
  10. What are the other choices for a HFA? My major interest is creating a love for learning. He can do the work in small spurts.
  11. I'm looking at using the Animals in their Worlds with my 2nd grader. Dx PDD-NOS. He is frequently distractable and a little behind in reading. But he loves animals. The curriculum looks wonderful. The reviews I've read are less than stellar. What think you? Please, give me the good the bad and the ugly.
  12. I had to reform my 'laig' to 'leg'. I was born in Louisiana. I don't know if that's what did it or what. You guys are a wealth of information! Thank you for all the great tips! Can't wait to use them.
  13. I'm trying to help my ds hear the difference between these two short vowel sounds. Our southern accent doesn't help. Do any of you have any tricks or resources that can help?
