  1. I agree w. the PPs about her being a little young to push copywork. (OT: Thank you momof7 I needed your post :001_wub:)
  2. No suggestions, but I thought I'd give you a bump :)
  3. I'd do year round taking breaks. I did a schedule like the PS's last year & it was really hard to get back on track in the fall.
  4. My mom is an amazing woman, but she was VERY critical of me while I was growing up (still is to some extent). She is also very high strung. So, while I admire her strength and her dignity, I hope that I'm not as hard on my kids. Too, I hope I'm not that high strung. :tongue_smilie:
  5. John & Kate +8, Grey's, most anything on Bravo, Brothers & Sisters, Lost, and I'm w. Lynn, What Not to Wear :P
  6. Here's one that Martha Stewart's mom did and we've cooked. It's very yummy. :001_smile:http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.fc77a0dbc44dd1611e3bf410b5900aa0/?vgnextoid=af7b9a79b9b65110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&autonomy_kw=meatloaf&rsc=header_4
  7. :iagree: There's a book called A Daughter's Journey Home. You can check it out here http://www.amazon.com/Daughters-Journey-Home-Finding-Connect/dp/1591451000/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209742269&sr=8-1
  8. I really think we became closer when I stopped being so dependent on my family and became more independent as an adult. I was way too enmeshed with my family. Last summer they overstepped their bounds and I stopped talking with them for awhile because I was so angry. When we did begin talking, I did my best to establish boundaries. I really think they respected I was doing the right thing and we've gotten on quite well since then.
  9. This is going to sound a little wacky, but I think it will work. I was working a job driving aver 20 miles everyday for three days. This left me overtired, so I resorted to convenience meals, and yes, sometimes fast food :blushing: So, I've opted to drop the job in lieu of saving on gas, saving on convenience meals, and being a lot more strict with our budget.
  10. I agree w. PPs who listed Lindt Chocolate Truffles. Oh wow! My mouth is watering! I also love Almond Roca.
  11. We've only used 1A thus far. I purchased the text & wkbk, but I'm thinking I really only needed the text. When things get more complicated, I will probably do both. :) I see us using the CWP & IP, too, especially during the summer :)
  12. I don't have a suggestion, but that's so great your ds is really enjoying to read! :) Also, I'd love to hear suggestions, too.
  13. Can I also suggest researching if your teaching style reflects his learning style? I know one of the most enlightening things for me in coming to these boards is learning about ds being Visual Spatial and finding resources to complement that learning style. Our teaching time has been quite different. My ds is quite active, too. I literally need to tell him at times to go outside & run around :)
  14. Too, I think people (myself included ;) ) want change in our country and believe that he can help instigate that change.
  15. :iagree: I have often had to remind myself that we're not reproducing school in our home. When I go there, things tend to be more tense. With that said, I don't stand for disrespect & ITA w. Joanne's suggestions of having the child repeat himself in a more respectful manner & searching his/her life for things going against the HS grain. :)
  16. :iagree: in terms of the solving for the unknown addition (we haven't reached multiplication, yet, LOL). Ds breezed through subtraction. It took awhile to get used to the concept, but when he got it, it was awesome! Much like what you're feeling! Yay for you!
  17. We often go to this list http://www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/1000-primary.html for ideas! :) Many have already been mentioned by PPs.
  18. I'm all about Science at the K level being interest led. :) Lots of trips outdoors, etc.
  19. I'm an AAS supporter! I'll be ordering it after our Explode the Code lessons are done.
  20. This is a great site I hope to use in the future :). http://www.gardenofpraise.com/art.htm
  21. Isn't Evan-Moor awesome? (and Google Books, too, at that!) I've found many of the books you can "see" on their site evan-moor.com , too :)
  22. A room I can strictly hs in. Preferably in a house in Silverthorne, CO. :D
  23. I agree, I've never had any problems with orders. Although, I've only ordered on sales as well :) They're sales are incredible.
