  1. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: That is all.
  2. I don't have a big family, but we have a rule of thumb that anything that comes into the house must have a parallel item that goes out of the house.
  3. Muppets is an annual tradition here as well. And as mentioned upthread, very true to the original story, and I think teenagers will enjoy it the most.
  4. Really? Have you never stayed in a B&B? It's very common in Europe. The only time I absolutely want a room with an ensuite is (that time of the month).
  5. I know St. Thomas Episcopal has Latin AP, though I don't know whether they have ever had homeschoolers take APs there. They ARE very homeschool friendly - my dd took dance there. You might also ask the people at Rice http://collegeready.rice.edu/Content3Cols.aspx?pageid=2286&id=2147484753 If you're willing to drive to Dallas, I know of a great public school with fabulous facilities who is very homeschool friendly ;)

  7. This. My dd thought she wanted to apply to be an RA, until she helped her RA clean vomit in the hall bathroom one time too many. :glare:
  8. I've had this one by Discovery Toys for nearly 20 years. It's held up well.
  9. My dd LOVES flannel sheets. We've gotten several sets from Lands End when they have their 40% off everything sale (closer to Christmas).
  10. :iagree: This is what I do for the most part. I sometimes do the breaststroke but it's not very pretty.:glare: I do the kickboard for 1/2 to 1 mile, and it takes me nearly an hour. I've been running as my main exercise for over 25 years. Swimming has helped some with my running. I just don't breathe through my mouth very well, whether running or swimming, or sleeping for that matter.;)
  11. We visited right before we moved from Houston, even though dd was adamant she didn't want to go to college in TX ;) She came out of the info session saying how great it was, small classes all taught by professors (no TAs). She never wavered from THAT part. Since she has wanted to be in the mountains since she was little, alas she didn't apply to Rice. It's a very good school academically and a beautiful campus. As Dot said, the museums in Houston are amazing and Rice Village has fabulous shops and restaurants. The weather in Houston can be brutal if you're not used to it. It's hot and humid 8 months of the year. The people are extremely friendly and down to earth. ETA and Dot is right on the traffic - for being the 4th largest city in the country, it's crazy that it doesn't have a better mass transit system.
  12. I've had this happen several times. I think the bar codes got mixed up in the computer
  13. Thanks :) Very nice! I was mainly just curious whether any were classics :tongue_smilie: Congratulations again - they all did amazing work!
  14. Wow!! They're all great. Congratulations to all of you! Could you post a picture of her photo without all the bling? It looks like a fabulous photo.
  15. I married into a Volvo driving family. I got my first Volvo when we were engaged, and we kept it (and dh's) till we moved overseas. A few months later a woman driving a Toyota hit me; her car was totaled, mine was repaired. We bought Volvos when we lived overseas (two different countries) and again when we returned. Mine is 10 years old and still in amazing condition.
  16. Interesting!! The term "minority" is in the eye of the beholder. ;) Thanks for the link!
  17. This isn't solely based on region. I live at least 24 hours drive from Jane (to my dissatisfaction as I would love to meet her!) and we share the same thinking on parents saving for college.
  18. My dd took it a few years ago. The teacher wasn't totally on the ball about the exam - she told the class in February they should register for it (my local high school required us to register by December so we would have been scrambling at that late date) plus she thought the highest grade was a 6.
  19. I ordered around midnight last Wed. and it arrived today - 4 business days total.
  20. :iagree: Same here. :glare: I'm just glad we got to hear SWB (5 times!) this weekend :)
  21. :iagree: No way would I go next year with the current line up. :001_rolleyes:
