    Wordle

Wordle 280 3/6 ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Don't ask me how I got this! It was really a complete guess but was the only thing I could come up with that fit with what I had.
  2. Only if you actually did the proctoring routine. We used several of these but didn't need "official" results so just downloaded directions from the Binax site and did them with no proctoring. Of course, then when we had two positives there was no way to report those findings without getting an additional test done.
  3. Vinegar and/or baking soda if it's really just a smell. I just throw a half of a cup or so of each into the washer and then wash as normal. Dawn dishwashing detergent rubbed in the area of the grease if there might still be grease hanging on there and then wash on the hottest water cycle you dare without risking the jacket.
  4. We got caught with this situation, too. I think they were basing the advanced payments from 2019 dependents and we had two age out by this tax return. We got a refund but it was much smaller than usual which I was expecting so it was fine but I can see it being a shock and a mess if you have older teens who aged out of the credit while you were getting the credit for them. I should clarify - in our case one aged out of the credit plus one ceased to be able to be claimed as a dependent. Threw everything off in addition to the prepaid credits.
  5. We drive 30 minutes for sports activities. Usually practices last around 2 or 2.5 hours. I stay there and wait. Usually I run errands but often I use the time to do lesson planning, cross-stitch, watch Netflix or read. Fortunately, I can park in a certain spot and get the wifi from the school. Last year we had a situation for a while where there were consecutive practices each two hours. That made for long evenings for both myself and the child that had to wait on their activities. It was temporary but made me think through how this is going to work in the future. When the practices are four or more hours, I will probably drop them off, return home and then my dh will pick them up after work . . . it will cost twice as much in gas but as long as I don't have to make both round trips it will work. Of course, the price of gas will probably change those plans. I'm thankful that I don't mind sitting - it drives my dh crazy so if waiting is to be done, it will be me doing it. If the weather is nice it doesn't bother me so much because I can get my steps in outside but most of my waiting time is in the evening in the winter so that doesn't often work.
  6. Hilarious. Fedex is the only service that always delivers our packages to the house next door despite both houses being clearly marked with the address! I laughed today when I was out for my daily walk. A FedEx truck was parked in the driveway of the house two doors away from us and as I walked by the delivery guy was carrying a package off the porch of that house and carrying it to the house next door 🤣🤣
  7. I was thinking the same exact thing when reading this thread. In our house about half would want the morning light and the other half would want the evening light.
  8. I requested mine on Monday and received them on Thursday! I couldn't believe it!
  9. This is what is beginning to annoy me a lot. We received paperwork for a volleyball league my dd is in that masks were required in the gym. So, I have my mask on as we walk in to practices and I'm the only one with a mask on. Either they are required or not - there's no point in putting up the signs if they aren't really required. It's deceitful for those who are being cautious about Covid or at higher risk and it's confusing for everyone else, including the kids involved in the league.
  10. We are not masking here. Numbers are down and everyone in our house is vaccinated. We are pretty sure most of us if not all, had it in January (I didn't have enough rapid tests at the time but two tested positive). It is uncommon now to see masks when out and about. My dd who lives in a nearby city surprised me by telling me that everyone there is still masking and that you rarely see anyone without their mask in public. We are only 50 miles away from each other. She thought they may have a county mandate but wasn't sure.
  11. Did you update the PayPal transaction with the tracking number or send her the tracking number? There is no reason to issue her a refund after one week. She is being unreasonable especially if you disclosed in the transaction that you were using Media mail

    Wordle 260 6/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Too many possibilities!
  13. My sil just announced that she has Covid. She had it at the very beginning of December. As far as I know she is unvaccinated. She is isolating from her family this time but has a very mild case. The last time, she didn't isolate and my brother ended up in the hospital with it for 10 days in December then had blood clots at the end of December. Hopefully it stays mild for her and no one else is reinfected.
  14. I spent two hours there today. I found out that they do have the hospital bed in the process of being delivered, a nurse/health care worker is coming several times a week to check on the catheter and to bathe her. He is actually calling hospice today to see if they can help. I feel a tiny bit better about their situation now that I see there is some help starting up. Evidently a lot of this was delayed mostly because he hasn't had a phone ever since she was released from the hospital early this week. He had made some calls using our phones which had helped a bit but not enough. The phone situation is resolved and I am planning on stepping back again. She was content to watch a movie and sleep today and was well-centered on the couch so no problems there. Nurse had been in this morning so clean bedding and attention to catheter had been taken care of. Their full-time helper should also be back on duty by tonight he told me and she seems to really be a good influence over there. I think last night may have just been a low point in the process of adjusting to her being back home.
  15. Father is in his mid-eighties and lives across the street. He barely functions for himself and is taking care of his girlfriend who has numerous health issues. No other family anywhere nearby. There is definitely a mental health issue involved with the husband. Per his interpretation as conveyed to me he was told that a nursing home would require him to sell the truck that the wife owns, hand over her disability check and half of her pension. I tried to tell him that it makes perfect sense to do those things but he got angry. It's a mess and in the meantime this poor lady in the throes of dementia and a failing body is paying the price.
  16. So we have found ourselves getting re-involved in the care of our neighbor lady with dementia the last few days. A few years ago she developed Alzheimer's and before her husband had full-time help move in she was wandering the neighbor -mostly to our house. Now she has just spent a month in the hospital (Covid and then kidney failure from what I understand) and cannot walk. She was sent home with a catheter and is bedridden but the ordered hospital bed hadn't arrived so she is ensconced on an old couch that sags so much that if she turns on her side she slides into the floor. Husband is having his own health problems, financial problems and really struggles to communicate or understand medical personnel. Right now he has no phone so has been using ours. I was there for an hour last night while he tried to solve the phone issue and came home furious and frustrated with the situation. She slid off the couch while I was there - her catheter bag was so full it was backing up into the tube. I could not lift her back onto the couch but helped him do it when he returned and he has to wrench her shoulders so hard to move her that she cried (she is basically no responsive most of the time)! Where is the social support and medical support for this family? What social worker sent them home like this? I'm waiting for him to come and get me to watch her again this morning while he again tries to solve the phone problem. I'm almost in tears thinking about returning but I can't refuse. He needs someone to care. Something has broken down in our elder care system!
  17. Since last summer I've been listening to the Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny. I loved the narrator. He died between books 6 and 7 and I'm having a hard time adjusting to the new voice but if you haven't read the earlier ones and enjoy mysteries, I highly recommend them.
  18. Lifelong Bengals fan here so I'm disappointed but life goes on. Great game - didn't pay much attention to halftime.

My dh and I have been having a friendly wordle competition.. I got the word in three today and was bragging. My 12yodd got interested. She is a terrible speller but I set it up for her on her computer and helped her get started except she was in the same room with my dh so they were working kind of together and my dh was groaning because he couldn't figure it out. All of a sudden my dd shouts I got it. In three tries - she didn't even know the word as a word - just used straight up logic 🤣🤣. DH was not amused.
  20. Watching everything we can. I don't like the fact that it is being held in China and I don't like that the USA is participating but none of that is the athletes fault.
  21. I had to ask my 18yods for help when I was on try six. We (really he) got it
  22. The other day I missed a call while keeping stats for a basketball game. When I checked at halftime the voicemail was a man's voice kind of quiet and mumbling "Are you going to be ok?" Then he hung up. Weird and sad because I wondered the circumstances but I didn't take the time to try to call him back.
  23. I always tip generously for our pizza. We usually order from the same place and I want them to remember that I tip when they are making my next pizzas.
  24. I've been wondering if Meijer may be in a bit of trouble financially or just going through a down time? Ours has been sparse, too. In our area they were the last to get organized for pickup orders and the shelves seem really sparse the last few times I've been in there. Our store just has a generally unkept look which is very unusual. It was my go to store for years but I had to switch during the pandemic because of their lack of/poor quality pickup service so it makes me sad to think they may not make it.
  25. Covid finally hit our family over the past few weeks. First was my 18yods. We're assuming exposure happened during a basketball game. He was the only one on our team that got it (at least that was symptomatic). He is fully vaxed, not boostered. He had a fever for one day, sore throat for two, and laid around for the third day which is when I finally tested him with a rapid test. My dh tested positive at about the same time. He was fully vaxed and boostered (late November). It hit him harder, but not awful, he was off work for about three days but then went back to working online from home this week. He's being careful to not get too tired. Still gets headaches but he gets headaches frequently anyway. My 20yods had exposure at work - he is training to be a semi-driver and his trainer tested positive. He may have had it . . .some coughing, no fever and I had no tests left so he didn't test. He has allergies so there was no sign of excess coughing or sneezing beyond the norm so he didn't think anything about it so its a chicken/egg situation. Did his trainer expose him and he passed it onto us or did he expose the trainer? Who knows . . . No one else seems to have gotten it but my younger two had slight cough but nothing else. I had a cough since I was sick back in December, who knows? Editing to add: We have found that the five days guidelines seems to work in my 18yods' situation. He played with his team starting on day six (after much discussion among the powers-that-be at the school) and I was holding my breath that it didn't spread through the team. It's been over a week now and no spread among the coaches or teammates.
