  1. Maybe I didn't have the right design? Grey is the one that opened on your link for me
  2. I was just able to put it in my cart 9x12 $224 it's not prime though. . .
  3. None in our area of Ohio, thank goodness. That would have really annoyed me.
  4. My dear aunt solved the problem for me. She was at church and I mentioned that I was sending two pairs of eclipse glasses home with her so she could watch the eclipse tomorrow and she started shaking her head and said, "I've already gone to see one of those, I'm not going tomorrow.". I told her she didn't have to go anywhere - that all she had to do was step outside the front door but she shook her head and repeated "I've already gone to see one of those and I'm not going to bother looking at it tomorrow". I tried really hard not to laugh but I looked up at my mother-in-law and she was looking at Aunt (her sister-in-law) like she had two heads - LOL! Anyway, I guess I don't need to worry about dear aunt after all. Once you've seen one eclipse, you've seen them all 😁
  5. I have two kids that quote the office constantly and laugh at me because, though I've seen the show I never recognize the quotes unless there is a name in them. We quote Lord of the Rings often, the only one I can remember at the moment, "Run you fools". Studio C gets lots of quoting here as does Tim Hawkins.
  6. We live in totality but I just realized that I probably should get my elderly aunt to my house because her helper leaves at 2 and eclipse happens after that and I'm afraid she'll go outside without the glasses so I probably need to supervise her but she lives in the other side of town and it will probably be a mess getting her back home. And basically I don't want to deal with it - just want to enjoy eclipse day with my kids as dh will be out of town on business.
  7. That reminded me that my kids have called their grandparents on both sides G-ma and G-pa for a long time. It came from playing games that required score-keeping and that's how they wrote their names 🙂
  8. We have five grandchildren from one ds/dil. When the oldest was tiny she couldn't say her hard "g's" so we became "Yammaw" and "Yampa". That has stuck through all five of those kids but it's awkward because my other grandson calls us Grandma and Grandpa. I mean, it's not awkward, but I kind of liked Yammaw and Yampa better just because it was unique but my dd definitely has taught her son that it is Grandma and Grandpa. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the next son and his wife start their family. He's very close to his older brother so I'm guessing the Yammaw and Yampa label may become the norm.
  9. I would stay out of it unless it directly affects you once they are both home at the same time. Their relationship is not your responsibility. If they choose to let it affect the others in the house then I would step in and explain that their relationship is between them but that if they can't control themselves they are welcome to make other arrangements for their room and board. I had two who were having difficulty for a while - I don't know what it was about and it has disappeared but I was very glad that my husband and I did not get involved. I know as mothers we want all of our kids to get along but once they are adults - that is up to them, not us.
  10. I wish I had thought of this earlier in this process though as I think about it, since I use my Amazon and Sam's accounts to order stuff for her, it probably wouldn't have worked.
  11. From taking care of my husband's elderly aunt who has issues with incontinence, my fb feed and google and email are all filled with care homes, incontinence products and all sorts of devices for the elderly. My trash also sports extra large Depends boxes because its easier for me to deal with than her. My dh was cracking up when "our" Depends box trash blew into our neighbors yard during a storm last week. Of course, he left it there for me to go retrieve 😁
  12. My dh is the guy who likes to take (in my opinion) risks. He's the one who stands out in the front yard during a tornado warning rather than sheltering with the rest of us - though a few weeks ago he did shelter for the first time ever and the tornado landed about 3 miles west of us (so basically went right over our house) so maybe he has some sixth sense that I don't have He says it's just a guy thing to push physical limits. So far he's come out all right. It makes me angry once in a while but usually only if he's involving me or the kids in the foolishness or making me responsible for the kids while he does something weird - about 8 years ago we were hiking in the Smoky Mountains when we saw a momma bear and cub. So at that time with us, we had three elderly relatives, all of my kids (youngest 6 and 😎and three very young granddaughters with us. My dh goes towards the bears while I'm trying to get everyone else farther away. I wasn't happy but we all survived 🙂 (can't edit sunglass emoji - should say "8")
  13. Yes, the band wore through and we just keep putting off getting it fixed or replacing it. Just about the time I think about it, something more "important" comes along. I keep imagining my dh getting me a new one for Christmas or a birthday sometime (or anniversary) but honestly, he's probably forgotten completely about it 🙂
  14. Years ago I banged my ring as I was getting towels out of our washing machine. A few minutes later I realized the diamond was gone from my engagement ring! I knew exactly what had happened but I figured it was gone because of the drain holes at the bottom of the tub. Anyway, my dh put a pair of panty hose over the drain pipe and did a spin cycle. I think we did three and I had given up when he ran one more and out it popped! My wedding ring wore through a few years ago so I'm very thankful we found the diamond as I can still wear that
  15. We haven't used the signs here mainly because I want the kids to deal with "real" driving while I'm in the car with them. I'd probably be more likely to put the signs on after they have their license. Because of where we live and where our activities are, my kids tend to get more highway driving time than anything else so once they are comfortable on the back roads, they are on the highway for most of their driving experience. The near misses we've had are all with traffic not understanding that the person entering the highway is the one that's really supposed to merge and not expect everyone already on the highway to make way for them. The concept of who is responsible for merging seems to have changed. I was following a student driver car yesterday on the way home from church. I didn't really alter my driving at all but I did keep an eye on them and in my mind complimented them on their skill after being behind them for a while 🙂 I'm pretty sure the tail-gating, speeding, huge pickup that was weaving in and out of highway traffic didn't notice them at all as he swooped up behind them in tailgating position and then swung around them in close proximity. It's like anything else, the one's who care will notice the signs and the one's who don't care and are trying to prove their - whatever - will still drive like jerks.
  16. I just had a conversation with my son about this. I am a football fan (not a Chiefs fan) but what I am seeing this year is a pattern with Kelce. This isn't the first time this season that the cameras have caught him raging and I'm pretty sure that this isn't the first time the coach was the target. My immediate reaction is that Taylor should run far, far away from this guy. Whether it's from brain injury or not, the lack of self-control is apparent. As my son said though, "They won so it won't be a real conversation".
  17. I have an event to go to the weekend before and couldn't figure out why the prices were extremely high for the hotel I usually stay at. dh figured out it's the weekend before the eclipse. Luckily a similar hotel on the same street hadn't figured it out yet or was ignoring it We live in totality so won't have to travel. My dh has a conference in a different state that will also be in totality so he was happy about that.
  18. I never associated it with grief but I've had the same feeling about looking at my hands and seeing my mom's hands (she passed away three years ago). I have a vivid memory of how her hands looked holding one of my babies and now my hands look like hers. I also look a lot like her, gray hair and face and people comment on it all the time. The hand thing doesn't bother me except to recognize my age and that time is marching on.
  19. Trying to work on school stuff and can't get logged on today. Website says its a fifteen minute outage but it's been all morning. Just wondering if its me or everybody.
  20. This is kind of off subject but we are facing this right now and the problem isn't that one couple had five sets of fancy dishes (at least in our family), it's that Grandma kept her mother's set of fancy dishes and then got her own when she was married and my dh's aunt kept the set from her grandma and aunt (who had no kids) and got her own set so now that aunt is 84 and needs to get rid of stuff we have to figure out what the heck to do with all these dishes that have so much sentimental value to the elders in the family but absolutely none for us other than a "that's cool" vibe. I don't have room to store this crap. This doesn't even factor in my mother-in-law's set and my own mom's set.
  21. I would contact the company. Even if it is out of warranty they may give you a break on a replacement
  22. My mom wanted to come and stay to help when my first was born but I turned her down. I had been around babies all my life and couldn't figure out how one baby would keep three adults busy - LOL! She came to visit for one day, brought a meal and went back home. It was all good. I don't think she offered for baby #2 but for baby #3 she and my dad came and took the two older kids home with them for three or four days. It was bliss. I had so much time and energy that I actually made a crib quilt for the baby that week. I think they did that for baby #4, too but then mom started having some health issues and it didn't work out for the later kids.
  23. No, my dh did not take paxlovid. We never considered it because he was never that sick just tired and now it's dragging on and on and headaches have returned. He's not even really coughing
  24. Being bored is not a bad thing. Lots of kids grow up in a rural setting where entertainment opportunities are few and far between. Reading, crafts, and chores were my companions growing up. Once I got my driver's license my world expanded but until I was 16 I basically went to school and came home. But interesting things I did - grew my bank account by chopping weeds or picking up rocks from my dad's fields - basically a job whenever I wanted to work for as long as I wanted to work, learned to nurse piglets that were rejected from their mom and raise them on a bottle (my grandma and I experimented for years to come up with the right formula to be successful at this and my dear long-suffering mom let me keep boxes of baby pigs on our back indoor porch); learned how to knit, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider . . . all kinds of things, practiced the piano for hours, read for hours. Very few playdates in my childhood - we went to the library once a week, went to church once or twice a week. That was life. Boredom is the origin of a lot of creativity.
