  1. That is a statistic that is often found in textbooks, but it's probably less than that.
  2. He also needs a tetanus shot if it isn't up to date.
  3. That sounds to me like a comment from someone who just feels like being snotty. I'd be surprised if she really meant it. I think I'd have a conversation with her about how words can really be hurtful. And I'd want to know if she really meant it or was just being obnoxious. I'm not sure how I'd handle it after that though.
  4. You also might want to take a look at the Fordham site to see what they think of your state's standards.
  5. Most states have their own set of standards. Google your state and "education standards" and you can probably find a list.
  6. Dan Willingham has a blog post about this today: Willingham: Left/right brain theory is bunk
  7. I think I'd consider how to handle the rest of the class. Seems like an opportunity to teach them that everyone is different and we all deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.
  8. 3rd party cookies are set, site isn't blocked. I rebooted, still didn't work. I cleared the cookies for that site, but that didn't work either. Thanks for the suggestions. Any other ideas?
  9. I'm trying to login to the Power School site, but I can't login from one of our computers. I can login fine from any other computer. It used to work on this computer, but for some reason it doesn't work now. I know the username and password are correct. Any suggestions?
  10. :iagree: I'm betting there are a lot more people hurt or killed as a side effect of traffic stops than there are hurt because a criminal has advance warning. We were in an accident on an interstate several years ago that occurred because of a sudden lane shift (not our fault) when a police car pulled someone over and she didn't pull completely off the road. I wish someone had warned her! I guess it depends on what the goal is. If it's to get people to slow down and drive safely, flashing your lights makes sense. If it's to catch and punish speeders, it doesn't make sense. I don't feel strongly about it one way or the other, but I'm not convinced about the "warning the criminals" angle.
  11. She says 2 weeks. She remembers specifically because we did the treatment during a week she had off from dance, and she had to take another week off because the blisters on her knees prevented her from dancing.
  12. Wanted to add- The good news is, they are now completely gone, with no recurrence. She's had problems with molluscum for years and we are finally done with it! I hope.....
  13. My dd recently had about 10 molluscum treated on her legs. The blisters were huge, and they took at least a week, maybe 2, to pop on their own. My dh (family practice dr.) opened one, but the fluid reaccumulated right away, so I doubt that is going to help much. I'll ask her if she remembers exactly how long it took when she gets home.
  14. I don't see it as any different than the signs we have on the highway indicating that speed is monitored by cameras.
  15. We're going to be in Madison for the weekend, and my dd is looking for a homecoming dress. Can you recommend any stores? We won't have much time to shop, and will only be on the west side of town. Thanks.
  16. I'm really glad to see this one. Non-HFCS BBQ sauce is one thing I've had a terrible time finding.
  17. Pepperidge Farm has several different kinds of bread without HFCS.
  18. I've previously posted about the way my son's school handled a bullying issue last year, copied here: I'd ask the principal to have someone "babysit" this bully. He should be accompanied by an adult at all times that he isn't supervised by a teacher in class. If they aren't willing to do that, I'd threaten them with legal action. :grouphug: Bullying really stinks.
