  1. I wouldn't worry too much about the group project issue. I personally think group projects are a misnomer. They should be called "Let's get the smartest kid in the group to do all the work, then we'll sign our names" project. Homeschoolers will do fine. They just won't let the slackers sign their names. ;)
  2. I thought they were funny too. Some days, I really do wish dh would come in and say "Hey girl, I know you've had a long day. It's okay that you watched netflix for school this afternoon." :tongue_smilie:
  3. I can't choose just one. It's a combination of saving money and cutting out preservatives. I do enjoy the end product even if I don't always care for the process. Sorry, I'm no help to your poll. :tongue_smilie:
  4. I make my own version of hamburger helper too! My dh loves the stuff, but I refused to make it anymore so I made up my own version.
  5. It's only a 100 degree fever, it's not like it's the flu. If you really want to go or think you need to be there, go. Try not to get too close to anyone, use lots of hand sanitizer and wash your hands with soap and water whenever you get a chance. Skip the reception maybe, but I wouldn't skip the wedding over a cold.
  6. My first thoughts were "This is your first time leading a Bible study and you start with Romans?! Brave soul!"
  7. Born and raised in SC, and I've never heard of these before either. :001_huh:
  8. I don't know how it would have downloaded on its own. You have to agree to download something twice. It always asks if you're sure you want to download. Are you sure she wasn't just innocently searching and downloaded it, then realized it was something she shouldn't be looking at?
  9. If it helps, your post reminded me to put the due date on my calendar for the books we got today at the library. :grouphug:
  10. Charleston, SC has most of that, except for weather. Hurricanes are possibly and humidity is a given. Still there's a heavy AF and Navy presence, Boeing is here, lots of opportunities, low cost of living, lots of homeschoolers. It's just an option.
  11. Education wise, you don't need to go this year. I'm assuming you're talking about the Greenville, SC convention (I'll be at that one!). BUT I for one LOVE to peruse curriculum and listen to people talk about all facets of homeschooling so it's like a fun, vacation weekend for me. If you think you'd enjoy it, go ahead and go! And don't feel guilty about asking your dh to watch your little one. If you're going to homeschool, he needs to learn early on that you need time to plan, prepare, and take a break sometimes. =) ETA: I just noticed you're in Chapel Hill, so I guess you're not talking about the SC convention after all :)
  12. I remember a fashion person on tv saying the perfect white t-shirt for women is Hane's men's v-neck undershirts. I haven't actually tried it, but that's what they said. :tongue_smilie:
  13. Honestly, I wouldn't be too bothered by it. The kids were safe and with people you trusted. They knew the situation wasn't serious, and your children were fine. :001_smile:
  14. I didn't pay attention to the weight loss "promise" because so much is dependent on eating, how much you have to lose, other health issues, ect. But it WILL get you in better shape. Good luck!
  15. SC too! I've had our doors and windows open nearly everyday, and today I wore shorts and a sleeveless shirt. I just see it as everything evening out. Last winter was COLD so this winter is extra mild! =)
  16. Do they know they aren't required to do those things? Maybe someone at the school told them they needed to and they simply don't understand the laws.
  17. :grouphug: Okay, my first child locked me out on our 2nd story balcony when he was about 18 months maybe. I had to climb/jump/fall down, then wait for maintenance to bring a key to let me back into my locked apartment and my baby. :glare: Child #2 ran outside once with nothing but her diaper on. I saw her running around the backyard with her arms spread wide and a huge grin on her face.:glare::glare: Child#3 got out a few months ago (also around 18 months) when I was cooking dinner. The older kids were coming in and out and forgot to lock the door when they came in. A few minutes later, I realized he was gone and run outside yelling for him. A neighbor was walking with him outside because they didn't know who he belonged to. :glare::glare::glare: I get it, and I'm really sorry. Small kids are overwhelming at times! At least you don't have too much longer until you can move.
  18. If it's a kidney infection, you NEED to get to a doctor. You can't take care of this yourself. Kidney infections can get very serious very quickly.
  19. Seriously? So am I! I heard about a group getting started in Charleston. They're trying to open a home for girls and women to go to when their rescued and offering training and services. I don't remember the details, but I'm pretty sure I can find out from a home school e-loop I'm in.
  20. What state are you in? I know of an organization in Asheville, NC and another group on Florida (I can't remember the name, but I can look it up).
  21. Some fruits and veggies can last that long in the refrigerator like carrots and apples, but I think you'll just have to go to the store more often. If you weren't going raw, I'd suggest eating fresh until it starts to be less crisp, then chop and freeze to use in recipes. At least that way you're not wasting so much.
  22. Hmmm, maybe he's got some post-nasal drip going on and that's causing irritation? My doctor told me that most ear infections are actually viral and will go away on their own. He only gave antibiotics if it wasn't getting better after a few days. If your ds is already on antibiotics, either it's viral or it will get better in a few days because of the medicine. I hope he feels better soon! Ear infections are no fun for anybody.
  23. He definitely needs a talk to explain what he saw, and if he's looking, it means he needs more information that what he has. If I were you, I'd look to see what he saw so that I'd know what I'm dealing then tell dh the extent. I'd make sure he understands that it's normal for him to curious and interested, but those pictures are not the way to find out. It's tough because I've been reading up on the P*rn industry over the last year and it's sickening how the women are treated. Nearly all of them were abused growing in some way. The "work" environment is awful. No other industry allows the kind of abuse that goes on in that industry. I say all this to explain that I'd make this a VERY SERIOUS matter if there's a repeat offense. It's not something to wink at and look the other way if you know what I mean. :grouphug:
