  1. There are definitely still some coupons that you can use. Ones that I've used recently that come to mind were for whole grain pasta (made it cheaper than the store brand), vinegar (got it for free), frozen vegetables (no salt or sauce), olive oil, oatmeal, 100% whole wheat bread, etc. You just have to keep your eyes open for the good coupons.
  2. I like Preschool Plus. I got it for less than $30 from Rainbow Resources.
  3. I've started drinking one cup of coffee each morning this school year. The 9 month old still doesn't sleep through the night, so that one cup gets me up and going in the morning.
  4. Here it is. Short week for us due to illness and fall break, but I'm still happy with what we accomplished.
  5. He can leave work (private Christian high school ) at 4:00 on Monday - Thursday and 3:30 on Fridays, and it generally takes him 20 minutes to get home.
  6. I taught 5th grade before I quit to stay home with the kids. The public schools here are not an option, and we cannot afford private school on one salary. So, i am homeschooling for now (and enjoying it), but we plan to put the kids in school once they are all school age, and I will go back to teaching.
  7. Here's mine. It's my first time posting one to this thread. http://randomramblings-emilyv.blogspot.com/2010/09/teaching-time-september-13th-17th.html
  8. I voted hymns, but we also sing a lot of Psalms. We have both a hymnal and a psalter that we sing from. I love the theological depth of hymns, and I also love singing Psalms, the Bible's own words. My kids learn a hymn each week (just the 1st verse for now) as part of their schooling.
  9. That's where we get on the Silver Comet Trail, too. My kids LOVE walking on it. Sweetwater Creek is another good walking trail. The Chattahoochee River Nature Center is fun for kids. And echoing everyone who said don't plan your trip around Marta. It is one of the worst large city transit systems there is.
  10. I was student teaching in a 4th grade class. The lead teacher turned on the TV in the classroom and let the kids watch it most of the day. I was glad to keep informed but questioning her judgment at letting the kids watch it.
  11. Nope, no school tomorrow. DH will be home, and we have a birthday party to go to.
  12. We had cream cheese scrambled eggs, bacon, orange smoothies and various breads (pancakes, English muffins, bagels, only had a few of each in the freezer).
  13. I had to run out of the house right after dinner for a meeting, so we had a quick meal - chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, and salad.
  14. We have a Jordanna Ruth. Our other DD is Alexa, which I also thinks sounds nice with Ruth.
  15. Car seats really need to be tight in and of themselves not just because they are wedged in there. So you should make sure each Radian is fully secure before you install the Marathon. To the OP, I have a Kia Sedona and can fit a Radian, a Scenara, and a Marathon across the back seat.
  16. Sunshine Kids Radian - goes to 65 or 80 lbs depending on the model, folds flat and fits in a backpack for carrying through airport, sits low enough kids can still use the tray table, very narrow Only con - it is a bit heavy, but not bad
  17. There are lots of great hiking trails - Cloudland Canyon is one of our favorites.
  18. I keep a snack basket in the pantry filled with granola bars, graham crackers, pretzels, etc. I also keep one in the fridge filled with yogurt, cheese and fruit. They can have a snack mid morning, mid afternoon and before bed. They can have each item only once per day (i.e. they can't have 3 granola bars a day).
  19. We had a rotisserie chicken, cheesy potatoes, and lemon pepper broccoli.
  20. I've heard the fingertip rule, too, but I never liked it because I have REALLY long arms and my fingertips are almost at my knees. I have really long legs, too, so it basically rules out anything but Bermuda shorts for me.
  21. I teach at Veritas Classical Schools (not the one you listed, though), so feel free to PM me with questions.
