  1. WOW!!! you raise beef?! AMAZING! you can always ship some out this way!!!
  2. Wow... I am jealous. Are these grass-fed cows?! Anyway, we eat a lot of beef here (purchase 1/4 cow 2-3 times a year). I use my crockpot A LOT! ;) you can pre-make a ton of meals with all that ground beef: meat loaf pot pies taco meat sausage patties asian lettuce wrap filling Italian red sauce & meat raviolis meatballs (for soup, pasta, or sandwiches) roasts & steaks: I usually just crock pot them since grass-fed is lean. From the left overs, I do pot pies, casseroles, sandwiches, etc.
  3. There is a section where you can request to be excused. I was summoned while away at college and my parents just sent in the form that came with the summons.
  4. I vote "no". Since you say that you are all generally healthy and do not have compromised immune systems, I don't see the need for the flu shot. Our 3 got the stupid shot last year and 2 of them got 2 strains of the flu virus during the fall/spring. We've all been exposed to H1N1. wheew.
  5. I think autumn found it's way to the bay area! So... maybe you'll get yours in a few days?
  6. This filipino chicken & spinach soup with a bone broth base, flavored with garlic and ginger, served over brown rice. Nutrient-dense and VERY comforting. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  7. MOST dishwashers on the market these days are SUPER quiet. Our's is in the middle range of decibels (not sure of the number), but we can barely hear it. Sometimes I have to walk up to it to know if its running or not. Our old one sounded like a fighter jet taking off in our kitchen. It used to wake up our daughter at night (when I would run it).:glare:
  8. We bought a Kenmore Elite a while back and I love it. I haven't had any issues or complaints!
  9. I think it's just a matter of their maturity level and their hearts. If you feel that they might be easily influenced by what the see on television, then, I would say no. However, if you know that they would just be "entertained" by the show, then sit in with them when they view it. Better yet, watch the show yourself FIRST and go from there. I personally, have watched the show once. I won't watch it again. :D
  10. Sorry folks, just read an update on the website. The book won't be out till NOVEMBER! :001_smile:
  11. Check out Raising Godly Tomatoes... :)
  12. From my experience, only family members are allowed to visit babies in the NICU. I would hold off any gifts for the baby until the baby is home. As for your friend, I think a gift would be lovely. Something small (able to transport it home), but meaningful. :grouphug:
  13. OMG... that is too funny. Yes, it's hot where I live here in the Bay Area. I just want fall weather!! PLEASE!
  14. he may be low in magnesium due to the illness and antibiotics. You could do a search online and see what types of supplements to use?
  15. I voted, "never, he makes his own." He usually packs leftovers from dinner the night before. Or, he just buys something at the cafeteria at his work (they have an awesome cafeteria: organic, grass-fed beef, pastured poultry). I make breakfast for the family every morning... dont have time for lunch.
  16. I would be VERY careful of doing anything that is low-fat or non-fat. Our children need good fat for brain development and their cells. I do not have overweight kids, but we also do not do anything low-fat or non-fat in our home. However, we do not give the kids juice, processed food, boxed food, white flour, or refined sugars. Check out Food Renegade... there is something on there about teaching kids REAL food nutrition (which has zero to do with the FDA's "guidelines"). :grouphug: hugs to you mama. You are willing to make a change for the health and benefit of your kids.
  17. If you are just starting out, it would be good to check out a few books on homeopathy, OR, purchase some homeopathic meds from your healthfood store, or online (like Vitacost). I really love Hyland's and Boiron. Those are the more popular brands out there, and I have seen them work wonderfully.
  18. I am like the PP, I use combos for several symptoms. Reason: there are different symptoms and by taking different combos to target those specific symptoms, you are helping your body fight it off. For say, muscle pain, we just use something to target that one issue. For example: arnica- we use that for muscle pain or trauma.
  19. OMG... I am cracking up at this thread. I have ZERO advice about the snake. I would only suggest to run, screaming, with arms flailing around.
  20. yes, of course the meat is still good! :) Just be sure to clean everything REALLY well in your fridge. That happened to me once. Now, I always place frozen meat in a glass dish while it defrosts, to catch any "juices".
  21. not a fan of the Pearles' either...:glare:
  22. I took Trader Joe's prenatals. Folic Acid pills Fermented Cod liver oil from Green Pastures Pregnancy Tea from Traditional Medicinals later in pregnancy, added: Evening primrose oil, red raspberry leaf
