  1. If you have Discovery Streaming, there are loads of Health topics on there. I am planning on using it for Health for both of my boys (5th & 7th grade).
  2. What about the food she eats? Garlic, etc. is pretty nasty the next morning....
  3. My husband is a police officer. He says that some nights, that is all he does (answering domestic violence calls). Pathetic, huh? :(
  4. I have to admit, I have cancelled orders from people with a lot of requirements because I just had this aching feeling that they were going to be trouble. This of course is based on a bad experience. This person wanted books without creases (now, you are allowed somewhat of a crease, I don't remember the exact rules) and the two books I sent her didn't have any at all and were in excellent shape. She wrote me, requesting her credit back, saying the one book cover was completely folded in half and looks like it has been like that for a long time! What??? My first response was that she was a scammer....I mean, why else would someone lie like that?? It was impossible for that to happen.... Anyway, I am very leary of someone who has crazy requirements and seems like the want "new" books.
  5. Mine just started at 10 and 12. We have 3 boxes, in the basement, and it HAS to be done everyday. They hate it and that reflects in their work. They'll get used to it, I'm sure ;)
  6. Either way, I think you will enjoy it :)
  7. Yes, definitely an expensive place to go - but the cheese and chocolate fondue are to die for! I could skip the meat part and be perfectly happy. Check the website, too. I've had a variety of things from there and never thought anything was NOT good...but they change things often:) Enjoy!!
  8. I just bought it the other day and I really love it! There is sooooo much more than I realized - composers, music, images, encylopedia articles, and load of videos on anything and everything! Plus, they are ALL for kids...unlike Netflix.
  9. I didn't read the other thread, but I it's always been "sherbert" here as well. I thought it was maybe a Jersey thing, LOL, because my mother (and many others in the town I grew up in ) always had a way of inserting "r's" where they didn't belong. For example: wa®sh, Wa®shington
  10. I am in northwest NJ...and I don't think it's quite as hot today...LOL. A little less nauseating and my head doesn't feel likes it's going to implode (sinuses...) :)
  11. We like it, too:) I buy either used or from the Amazon seconds store - a lot cheaper!
  12. The answers to the questions/discussions and the test answers are in the teacher's manual. The only other resource we used were some netflix videos. We are planning on using OM7 Earth Science next month. I was thinking about getting Discovery streaming (through the homeschool co-op) because there are loads of Earth science related videos. That's an idea, as well:)
  13. I agree with spaceman....I never thought that was a problem with ADD/ADHD kids. Yes, my son is guilty of lack of focus, being impulsive, etc. but I never thought it caused him to not relate socially to other kids. Maybe she is just shy?? Do you have a link to this article (you can always use more information!)?
  14. Caffeine does NOT seem to do anything for my ds12 with ADHD. But, we've only tried soda, as he refuses to try coffee or tea:(
  15. We did OM6 Life Science this past year. We usually completed it in 3 or 4 days a week.
  16. :iagree:Especially about the format and the variety of things to do - my son really enjoyed it:)
  17. I've sold many book on amazon.com and here and never had any trouble. If I sell something on this board, I always offer to send the person an invoice through paypal. That way, they have my info. as well and buyer's protection (this doesn't really phase me, but as a buyer I would like it). Most people will sometimes just send $ (to avoid fees for the seller), and I think that is how a lot of folks get scammed. There is no recourse:(
  18. Many police departments require at least a 2 year degree, anymore. My husband had a bachelor's degree in Economics when he was hired and had to go back for a 2yr. in criminal justice (required in order to keep employment....).
  19. The TM has info/answers for the discussion questions and the test answers (also includes Social Studies and English info. as well). I used it mainly for the test answers if I didn't get to read the chapter. Yes, there are activities/projects. You don't have to buy a kit or anything. If anything was needed, it wasn't impossible to find it. There are also writing projects, planting seeds, and a lot of drawing. You complete a project every week (usually a choice of 3 or 4 things). HTH :)
  20. We used Oak Meadow 6th grade Life Science (completely secular). I think it would definitely be ok for a 5th grader and the younger crowd could easily jump in. There isn't a lot of planning, either. We really enjoyed it. Here's the link if you want to look at the sample: http://www.oakmeadow.com/curriculum/overviews/sixth-grade-overview.pdf Any questions - let me know:)
