  1. Hey Martha, I remember a time when you used Oak Meadow. No more?? (Thinking nature, simple, easier feel...)
  2. {{Whispering in your ear.....try OM first...try OM first...}} :)
  3. Yes, they were incredibly slow shipping out orders from the spring sale. Around 24 days, I emailed and asked what was up (because I had heard nothing). I didn't get a response, but go figure, a shipping confirmation. I have ordered from them a few times before, and the items shipped within a few days.
  4. I don't think you have to have 50 anymore....I just bought from someone with 1 post. The transaction went just fine..... :001_smile:
  5. Yes, it is set up the same way. I find it's much easier to just buy the workbook.
  6. How do you know? I don't see anything on Amazon.
  7. I believe it's available for download on PC or XBox. $20.00 maybe?
  8. My oldest hated OM6 history also. I am planning on using it again this coming fall with his younger brother, but with a lot more reading to help it along. OM8 Civics (especially since it's an election year)? Seems like the perfect time :)
  9. Last year we bought portfolio boxes from waldorfsupplies.com. The kids decorated them on the first day of school (and for about a week after that....just kept adding on and on and on...).
  10. Depends on who it's from, what it's about and if a response is urgently needed:)
  11. What about paper mache eggs? They are usually paper over plastic...much easier to paint. You could then just use regular craft store paint. They are cheap too. I usually pay around $1.80 for 6. Just a thought:)
  12. Well, at least you didn't need them this year! After last winter, I also bought Lands End flannel sheets. It was way too cold here in Jersey.
  13. First, I easily get overwhelmed (I have a 5th and 7th grader). LOL I think it depends on how much time you have to spend with each student and whether they can work independently. OM4 was not difficult, but is written to the parent at that age. OM6 was semi-difficult for us, because of the writing, ADHD, and my son not being that cooperative :glare: This year we are doing much better. We are only using parts of OM5 and OM7, but there has been improvement all around. We are planning on using all OM6 and OM8 next fall :)
  14. They have a few other sales during the year, I think for 10% off. I took advantage of the sale and purchased the grade 8 set. The samples DO NOT do these books justice. The civics book is so much better than I thought it would be. I am looking forward to using them this fall. FWIW, We've used parts of Oak Meadow for the past two years. I have this love/hate relationship with it...LOL. I love the idea of it, but when pressed for time, or when burn-out occurs it overwhelms me. As was mentioned before, this curriculum is heavy on writing, and that can be too much sometimes. We don't always do every assignment, or instead of writing we will discuss instead. We have also used the OM math from grades 4 - 7. It has worked out beautifuly for my two mathphobic boys. The pages are not too busy and I think the concepts have been explained well. If they need more work on something, I just print-off some additional worksheets from mathdrills.com. We also supplemented with Life of Fred Fractions in the sixth grade.
  15. We are currently using OM5. Usually, at the end of a lesson, there are other book recommendations (not to replace the required reading, but to supplement on the topic). Nance - your blog is great:)
  16. What is the evaluation called? I was recently checking into having him reevaluated because it was originally done by our pediatrician (honestly, I didn't know any better at the time). I was planning on going to a neurodevelopmental pediatrician who specializes in ADHD, but they already told me that they don't do evaluations for processing speed, etc. Hope that made sense. Thanks for answering:)
  17. I was just about to ask the same thing... DS13 has ADHD, and is the same way. Nothing, and I mean nothing, moves this kid.
  18. I had to update my browser from IE 7, to IE 8. Works beautifully now :)
