  1. Avoid the Pit, if you want avoid the epidural. Why did you have the pitocin in the first place? Sounds like you had a very standard first time 18-24 hour labor so I don't see any problems with that happening again. Just avoid the drugs.
  2. Heather THANK YOU for your input. We actually became interested in this while talking about Panang. I know my dh might have some questions for you, if you don't mind a pm.
  3. How long does it take to get an international cert.? He's looking at American schools which seem to be a bit more flexible. If he is qualified and experienced for college level teaching, it seems he should be able to teach at the highschool level.
  4. Okay, yeah that is a bit different. We have Tons of transplants up here so it doesn't feel as southern.
  5. My dh and I are thinking about going abroad for him to teach at an international school. If anyone has experience at one can you answer some questions? -what is the teaching load/classes per day? -general quality of students/backgrounds? -do faculty have extracurricular responsibilities? If so, what kind? -teaching enviroment: micro-managed/canned content or freedom with courses? -what is the salary like? -age of applicants? dh is 43 -how did your family transition? My dh has 2 terminal degrees, one is a PhD, and over 15 yrs of teaching, administrative, and online experience, but no secondary level teaching certificate, would he be a valid candidate without one?
  6. Where are you in SC? We're in the Upstate which is a good bit different from your description:) I assume you're quite South.
  7. Yep! I have friends who hink I'm crazy, but EVERY year it happens with every kid.
  8. Yep, i did feel queasy crampy, mittlesmerschrz pain, etc. Fatigued, but not flu. It usually only lasted a day though.
  9. I would go with the midwife I loved. Now, I would also speak to this midwife and let her know you do not want to be cared for by her partner. No one should have bruises from a doppler!
  10. Thankfully my kids make "friends" wherever they go. We hang out with 3 families semi-regularly. Two of whom we've known since my oldest wat an infant. The other, my dd's bestie, we've known for about 5 yrs. There are also brother that my ds plays with and my friend and I are both pg again. They introduced us to the church we go to. There are TONS of kids at our church and they see those kids on a semi-regular basis outside of church. Lots of them homeschool.
  11. I like R & S's books. They remind me of the Palmer Method I learned in Catholic school. We tried HWOT, Getty, & Queens school stuff, but I think this is the best instruction. Her handwriting has improvd tremendously.
  12. You might want to look into some breastmilk donation for at least the first 6 weeks then switch to formula. http://www.nationalmilkbank.org/ http://milkshare.birthingforlife.com/
  13. Getting ready to fix a nice hot lunch and start chicken soup for dinner. Today is activity free, but a heavy load of school work. Ds is done with his work and later we'll read LOTR and play a game. Dd is still doing writing and has latin, science and grammar yet. I will teach grammar and grade latin. Dd2 will be back from preschool in a minute. I have some minor chores and then will be hanging out with the kids the rest of the day.
  14. I'm 5"2 and have stackable front loaders that came with our house. Hate them, they are too small and my dryer is constantly smacking me in the head. No problems with the height issue though.
  15. Last year we told around 7 weeks, but this time around we waited until I was 10-12 weeks (when we got an HB) for most everyone else. I announced on FB when the second trimester started.
  16. My friend actally put up a room divider. It's not permanent, but very sturdy and really works to give true privacy. Is this a possibility?
  17. I'm not going to tell you what you should do, just what I would do given the situation you've described. If time is not an issue, I would wait 8 weeks, have markers taken on tumors, etc. During the next 8 weeks I would go SERIOUS gangbusters on juice fasts, raw, immune boosters, detox enemas, etc. This would be hard during the holidays, but I would feel great and no sugar is the new normal. After 8 weeks I would have my markers checked and evaluate the results and then see if chemo was the next step, etc. A LOT of healing can happen in 8 weeks and with a slow growing tumor I would be okay waiting that amount of time readying my body for chemo, if necessary. Also I would need to heal longer after such a massive surgery. :grouphug:
  18. Dd9 is my science kid and has asked for new microscope. She's grown out of the Eduscience one we bought her 2 yrs ago and is requesting one like the "science center has." Those are lke $250. Any recs? I think we are going to do CPO Life Science next year. I'm just not surE about such an expensive microscope, but also want her to get the results she's looking for.
  19. :001_huh: I never dressed up my babies. I think Halloween starts around here at 3.
