Our ballet mistress doesn't even want them to start before 7 or 8, but has to offer classes because the parents will go to another school. Dd 1 started at almost 4, but is very focused etc,. Now dd 2 is not starting until she is 6, b/c she is much more emotional and runs hot and cold with things, she is just not mature enough. She begs to take lessons at 4.5, but no way. I like to let kids do quick sports like soccer, swimming lessons, and 6 wk gymnastic stuff. Not all kids can handle the schedule of lessons at a young age. Dd is 9.5 and dances for 5 hours a week. She will up that by an hour every year. Ds started piano at 6 on a trial basis, but has been successful wih it. He and dd have the same focus level though.

Can you put a pack and play beside the bed? Since he is still pretty little those things are tall and hard to get out of. You have to be able to really pull yourself up and out and stand up well. It might work for a few months. Jane fell flat on her head over and over once she started walking she just refused to out her hands. I still have to get some mederma for the scars areas there. I was sure a few times she would fracture he skull. I think I read back of the head hits are more sensitive than the front.

Aimee, so sorry! Do you need anything? Ugh! I read the thread line and thought abouy when he tipped over at B&N. Bless his heart. I have a portable type bed rail if you want it. It was my life saver once they got mobile.

I actually vote for putting the youngers in school:) My 4 yr old is in preschool 3-4 hours a day and it's great. She will do the same for Kindy next year and then will come home to start academic 1st grade. She is not advanced like my older dd. Ds is easy AND hard to homeschool, being pg has been hard, but we are getting through the year. Most of the newborn phase will be in the summer and I've toned down my plans for next year. Dd will have half independent work and ds will be done in he mornin hours. I can HS with an under 1 yr old, but I will hire a mother's helper for 2014-2015!

Good! I just picked up The History of the United States an Intro to Human Anatomy. -
As a supplement? Are they too difficult for logic stage?

I know three marriages that have survived affairs. One has been married for 12yrs, 14, and the other 17. Two of them happened before kids, one spouse was told, the other still is in the dark, I think. One happened mid-marriage with kids:( Two of these were women who cheated and one was the man. Lots of other failed marriages, too many to list:(

Dd 9.5 just had a puberty burst of weight gain, buds, etc. and is sooo spacey and distracted I'm going crazy. I hope it settles down a bit. She's my totally emotionally balanced kid so that isn't too bad, it's the airheadedness I can't take. -
If you don't already own this game, you should!

We have 4 sets of cards and love it! Now, you really need more than one deck or it gets easy fast. We have inventions, historical events, discoveries, and diversity. -
No. They've had a natural microbrewed rootbeer, but that was a Major treat. When they get a drink at a restaurant, i sometimes let them get lemonade.

Aimee thanks for that. I'm leaning towad Holt and I like the idea of having all of that other stuff done for me since I'm adding an infant to the mix! ack!

My SIL did. She didn't have 6 other kids though. Get help! Also have you tried going to a chiro to turn the babies? -
I have a 6.5 I'll be watching for depression because he is very emotional/intense and like me. He asks questions like: "What if there was no God, space, etc. What if there was nothing?" "Who tells the scientists what they know?" "What if I don't grow up? What if I don't have enough time?"

Your dd sounds a lot like mine. Right now she just doesn't care about certain subjects. She dwaddles with Math everyday. I've had to cut back. She's compliant kid, but I can see her love of school has dimmed. I think some is pre-puberty hormones, but I'm also trying to make some changes to next year. She is a HUGE science kid so we are going to focus on that and do lots of our reading/writing about science. I'm only able to have so much fun and get the work done fo the 2 kids and I'll have an infan soon and my dd2 will be home this summer and maybe for K too. We have been incorporating more games: Timeline, strategy, and math games.

I'm looking at either Holt's or CPO. What have you used and loved or hated? TIA!

Trying to nail stuff down and get my budget in order. Tell me what you are doing and have done and what worked well, etc. TIA! This is what I'm contemplating: Human Odyssesy Volume 1 with Great Courses lectures: Daily Life in the Ancient World Geography: Ellen McHenry or MP's Geography I Science: Holt's Life Science, Usborne's The Complete Book of Microscope and lots of dissections and experiements. Or sub Holt for Story of Science Aristotle?

Do we have a Kindergarten thread yet (for next year)?

My 4 yr old will be new 5 next year and I'm doing Memoria Press 5K with her, plus OPGR & RS A. I'd like Kindy to be slow and steady for her. My ds learned to read for K and did Singapore E and ETC. He's now in 1st and flies through his work. He is reading D & D rule books and building legos sets for teens. He's the kind of kid who wants to get through school so he can do the stuff he wants to do. Yes, I could challenge him more, but he's a perfectionist and so to work above grade level would make him crazy. He had a freak out and was super mad he missed 2 on his math test today:0 Dd1 skipped Kindy and just did 1st grade work. She works in 4-6th grade, but if in PS would fall into 3rd. All 3 are different so I would just follow his lead since he isn't technically old enough for K anyway. -
Lol, mine goes to preschool every morning:)

If you use math mammoth AND writing with ease...

Funny how everyone uses FLL! We have used Rod and Staff since 2nd grade. Love it!
