  1. Here you go http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/567059-30-day-meal-plan-challenge-day-1-7/
  2. I would make an effort to have him continue studying Spanish at a post-AP level so that he doesn't lose the language skills. It's easy to let things slip ("oh yeah, I'll get to reading that short story next week" or "I'm too busy this week to chat with a language partner") without a registered class, you know?
  3. That's what ds did :) He took Mech concurrently with Calc AB (the teachers worked together) as a junior and the E&M as a senior.
  4. In my searching, I have found a very few schools that offer AP 1 and AP 2 in one year. Most schools offer year-long courses for each. I believe the scores for last year's 1and 2 tests were very disappointing.
  5. Usual Monday: --Arabic for dd; gym for me --dh Chinese class 5 --dd ballet 7:30-9 --daily and Monday things --a zillion emails to send --all the usual school things --prep DNA extraction lab for tomorrow --work thru next calc section ahead of dd --PSAT practice exam for dd --some administration-type paperwork for me, yay
  6. Today: training session at the gym plus whatever I can fit in
  7. My ds took AP Physics C without a prior physics class. He did have a very strong middle school science foundation and participated in physics-related Science Olympiad events for years before he got to an actual physics class.
  8. I am remarkably relaxed about the whole PSAT thing---which is amazing if you knew me in person. We always said dd15 would be the one of our three kids who was most likely to reach the NMSF level for our state (high, but not the highest--ds was just under). Well. We're not sure if this will stay dd's 10th grade year or if she will jump ahead and graduate next year. It all depends on what response she gets in (first) December and (then) in March/April. If it is positive in the spring, this year will be her junior year. If not, this will be her sophomore year. Normally i'd be making sure the kid in question has reviewed math, has done some test prep, amd has taken multiple practice tests. Dd hasn't done any of that yet.
  9. S--grilled steak, baked sweet potatoes, zucchini ribbons M-- ground turkey tacos, lettuce/tomato/peppers/zucchini T--eggs, hashbrowns, scrapple (gag), fruit (prob pineapple and grapefruit, depending on who wants what) W--chicken piccata, pasta, green beans T--salmon, rosemary foccacia, broccoli F--butternut squash and mushroom tart S--either Thai grilled chicken and rice OR pan-roasted chicken breasts w pan sauce and potatoes PLUS zucchini M-Th we either eat at a weird time or we eat separately because dd has ballet or MUN and dh has Chinese class or kickboxing.
  10. Usual Sunday--walked to the farmers' market for our yummies :D
  11. With special permission, yes. All the schools in our area are only administering on the 14th.
  12. Junior year is the year that "counts" for the PSAT. The only date it will be given this year is this Wednesday.
  13. Continuing with my weekend list: --exercise twice --laundry --plan meals --plan week --finish rearranging freezers --deadhead plants/weed/general clean-up --grade gov test --work ahead in calc --sort out and email volunteers --edit rules for two one events; send to kids --email K about materials
  14. Hey Jen, want to edit the title to make it this year's acceptance thread??
  15. You'll get the results directly at your home address.
  16. Here's the AP Course Ledger https://apcourseaudit.epiconline.org/ledger/ The information for this year isn't available yet. Look for schools near you to see what they offered last year. Contact the guidance counselor or the guidance office to see id they allow outside students to test. I stated that I had a student who was taking an approved AP class but needed a testing site. I did not say she was homeschooled because homeschooling is uncommon here. I asked if the school allowed outside students. I also asked if there would be an extra fee. Yvonne, that stinks :( Yes, your student uses the homeschool code. The school where dd tested last year had outside students from several schools (and dd, the lone homeschooler). The guidance secretary offered to help the kids filling out the paperwork to find their school code. I wrote dd's on a sticky and placed it on her id :)
  17. You need to find your own location. I'm running out so I cannot link----search "AP course ledger" to find a listing of schools in your area who have offered the class in the past. Technically, it's really a list of schools who have had a syllabus approved, but it's a good place to start.
  18. Yep! I had to skip the yogurt sauce because dd is severely lactose intolerant.
  19. Weekend list: --exercise twice --laundry --plan meals --plan week --finish rearranging freezers --deadhead plants/weed/general clean-up --grade gov test --work ahead in calc --sort out and email volunteers --edit rules for two events; send to kids --email K about materials
  20. This afternoon dh and I are going to the nearby(ish) botanic garden. He will work on photography; I will walk briskly between stops to fondle plants and google their names :)
  21. Laura, could you post some atmospheric Highlands pictures to your blog for us? I'm trying to imagine October. Are there leaves still? Do the leaves change colors? Conifers? Mists? Rocks?
  22. I have a friend who goes every year during Thanksgiving week. They do the parks hard Sunday-Tuesday, go early to a non--Extra-Magic-Hour park on Wednesday, skip the parks Thursday, and go early to parks on Friday and Saturday (they fly home on Sunday).
  23. Thanks, all. I ended up with a recipe quite similar to prairie-phlox's but from allrecipes, pan-fried for a few minutes and finished in the oven. I only had canned chickpeas. Next time I'll try proper fried falafel balls made with dried/soaked chickpeas (or I'll use the waffle iron). Dd and dh aren't picky about their falafel, though (when pressed) they said they prefer the fried type.
