  1. I can only dream of such a council.😒
  2. First...vent away. Your cookie mom sounds like a loon. Different councils have different rules. In ours, once the troop takes the cookies we are responsible for paying the council for them whether we sell them or not. You can't just give the troop what they would have made on the cookies. That is why we are careful not to over do. I'm not sure if that is why your cookie mom is panicking or not. Our council gives our girls a pathetic $.30-$.40/$4 box. We don't stress or push selling. Of course, we don't take big trips or spend much.
  3. I think Laura meant the aches we put down to aging and not health related issues. I realize many here are dealing with bigger health issues than what I like to term chronological advancement.
  4. I agree. I'm 53, run and do yoga, and feel fine. My dh does nothing and is really having issues. Granted that's an n of one but it costs nothing to try activity to see if it helps.
  5. As a GS mom for the past 16 years, your problem isn't the cookies it's the leader. I have never insisted any family sell cookies if they don't choose to.
  6. I have yet to figure out how my 22 yo son making under $15,000 owed our state money. But he did. When did leaving home and becoming independent become a mark against you. Yes, he really is independent but poor ( national guardsman and EMT-$10/HR to save lives in rural areas folks).
  7. I came home from a semester in England with money because I never spent my stipend. I'm better than I used to be though. Also underweight has never been a problem. I would draw the line at living in my car. I wouldn't feel safe.
  8. I have a tendency to be this way. I really, really try not to be and can get over it for the kids but buying myself something makes me physically ill and I truly dislike when people get me gifts. My kids will accept gifts but seldom ask for anything. I think, considering my parents and grandparents, it is genetic and learned
  9. Yes, I was told at the bra specialty shop where I bought them that handwashing makes them last longer. I do think it keeps them in better shape. I use this non-detergent cleanser.http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s//ref=mw_dp_a_s?ie=UTF8&k=Forever+NewI have very occasionally washed my sports bra in a lingerie bag if it was just dripping (July run or something). 10. I am like you. Eerily so. My kids are like yours. On the bright side they have no debt.
  11. Did yoga and walked yesterday. A chilly run this morning. Now I'm tired and cold.
  12. Please read my likes as hugs. I evidently am too lazy to use emoticons. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. Well since you asked, person who thinks they can monitor and judge, the tickets to the ballet were $4 each, I got lunch using coupons and all I had was a drink, the book I bought dd I used my educator card discount and the fancy candy was St. Patrick Day themed and 1/2 price soooooo even if you think I shouldn't " waste money" I did it thriftily. Oh, and she did a math quiz too and got a 93%. You know, since field trips aren't real learning. Whew, that wanted out badly.
  14. From recent experience I could not agree more. ((((Hugs))))) :grouphug:
  15. Yesterday all I could squeeze in was yoga and a quick hour walk. Not sure what I'll get to today. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

  19. I am making pi squares just to muddy the waters ( brownies with the pi symbol in frosting on each).
  20. There is an avalanche of brain/exercise research. This is a start http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/regular-exercise-changes-brain-improve-memory-thinking-skills-201404097110 And for good measure since I run and therefore feel validated http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/02/17/which-type-of-exercise-is-best-for-the-brain/
  21. Hugs to you. My dad died in September after a relatively short but intense decline. Time to process is definitely a must. My very best to your family.
  22. This is what I was going to say. I think the real problem is likely the sheer amount of sugar, fructose syrup and refined carbs in our diet. I doubt that fruit and actual grains (rice, wheat berries, etc) in reasonable amounts are doing as much damage as pop, candy and pastry provided you have no underlying health issues. That may be just my healthy skewed perception though. Actual studies seem to be all over the place.
  23. Even as a kid I sort of thought this was the reason. He was a wild guy married to a staid woman. I think he thought he would eventually find "the place" where he would make so much more money. If you think about lots of pioneers these two things seem the most likely.
