  1. My kids are older high school, and middle school. All errands and extra activities are after school hours or on the weekends now. We just don't have much time flexibility and enjoy finishing our lessons between 2 or 3 o'clock. When they were younger, Friday was our Free-day, and they had other classes that fell within our usual school hours. I did try to bundle everything into one or two days a week.
  2. :iagree: The fishy who is an extrovert might shine in a big pond, but an introverted fishy might be invisible in the big pond. Both can enjoy time in either pond, but they must have the drive to succeed in either.
  3. Another thread to incite disunity, bickering, hurt feelings and a desire to eat all the chocolate in the house.

  5. BJU and ABeka both have DVD or computer based options through high school. K12 is secular I do have a list somewhere of high school options. I'll see if I can find and post it.

  7. One more thought...I don't think many of us advertise what type of product we're using, so you may know more women using cloth than you realize. You can't really tell what someone is wearing, unless they happen to mention it.

  11. Colored highlighters can be a a help with multi-step directions. You or she highlights each step in a different color, and then corrections or steps are followed one color at a time. This breaks things down into memorable chunks, and if you are rewriting a paper...Correct in corresponding colors. Check lists are great and concentration breaks can boost performance. (A white board is often helpful.) She will need strategies for becoming an organized student, The Teaching Company has a video course for older students. Some find medicating with caffeine boost concentration as does exercise and for some meds. I recommend reading A Mind At A Time by, Mel Levine, M.D.
  12. I remember the thread, wasn't there a TM or just answer key option? QUOTE=HSMom2One;2250909]We are using VFCR for the first time this year at the recommendation of TWTM. My dd likes this program very much and it is doing a good job of helping to build vocabulary for her, but I have to admit that I do not like the TM at all. I have a really hard time going back and forth between both books so much that I actually wrote to the company to complain about it. (To no avail though since they don't plan to update VFCR evidently.) I brought this up on another thread here on the forum some time ago, and the consensus was that most parents don't use the TM all that much anyway. Although there are some clever activities that you might get some ideas from, it is actually better used with a classroom full of students. My main point in posting to this thread is that VFCR is indeed a great program, but I'd suggest that you use the TM mainly to help you grade your student's work. Blessings, Lucinda
  13. No, the one I had did not work. I'd love to find one that did though.

  15. I'm toying with the idea of AO for my youngest next year. Very interesting:lurk5: thread.
