  1. I understand. My dd has nut and dairy allergies. I think you did the right thing...many, many people don't know the definition of dairy. At McDonald's about 8 or 10 months ago, I asked the lady if the smoothies contained dairy. She said no and then told me the ingredients...one of which was yogurt. I had to inform her that yogurt is indeed dairy. YOU are your children's advocate! The people who were embarrassed by your behavior should be embarrassed at THEIR behavior. They put the feelings of the waitress over the health of your children. Shame on them.
  2. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for you and your son! That is just awesome.
  3. Keep being persistent! Not quite the same thing, but we bought a brand new truck years ago and it turned out to be a lemon. After a year of pursuing some justice, they finally offered us a new vehicle of our choice. So keep contacting them and on a very regular basis until you can get issues resolved.
  4. My entire house was wallpapered and then painted over. It looks fabulous and there have not been any problems with it. Here is a great link that talks about it. http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-paint-over-wallpaper/index.html
  5. :grouphug: My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little one.
  6. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I am so, so sorry.
  7. I understand. Once you get to that frustrated point, it is best to just load it all up in the car and take it to second hand. The stress and frustration isn't worth it. I used to have a box of books that were for sale on Amazon or free on paperbackswap. But I decided i was tired of looking at the box and got rid of it all. I didn't regret it a bit!! :grouphug: Once you get rid of the first load of stuff, the rest will come a lot easier.
  8. :grouphug: Our ds's adoption took 18 months. I gained a lot of weight and lost a ton of hair. It was by far the most stressful time in my life. But the outcome can't be matched! : ) I know it is hard. Try to stay busy getting ready, doing hobbies, reading books.
  9. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to you and your sweet dd. I hope you are able to get some answers and a solution SOON.
  10. Over the years, and from move to move, I have taken at least a dozen car loads of stuff either to the dump or second hand. There is only ONE thing I regret getting rid of and it was something of dd's--a piglet pillow. The surger/craft supplies/knitting etc...see if a senior center wants it! You said you just started quilting, but you don't need a surger for that. (I bought and sold a surger and have been a quilter for about 12 years...) Just.do.it. You will love the space and it will be so much easier to keep clean! BTW, we lived in the square footage that you lost. : ) For over a decade we lived in 874 square feet. It was...um...and adventure. lol!
  11. Don't avoid. Be proud of what you are doing. Hold your head up and give decisive answers.
  12. I do what the pp mentioned...keep them until I get the bill from the doc. I've had numerous instances of doctors/hospitals charging me full price when I have the EOB clearly stating that the insurance company has already paid their portion. Those little EOBs have saved me $$. :)
  13. :grouphug: ...I agree that it would feel very strange. We have 5 years of hs'ing left with our dd, but my little guy is 5 years behind her. Even so, I still wonder what it will be like to have both grown and onto their own pursuits.
  14. I've wondered the same thing. Around here, you can expect to pay more than 300 for a small dog. The shelters aren't no kill either so rather than lower the price to adopt out more, some end up being euthanized. Craig's List is a good place to find dogs. Many people give their dogs away, or charge only a small fee.
  15. Several years ago I lost 38 pounds in 6 months doing atkins. I went from a size 14/16 to a size 8.
  16. We feed our dog grain free kibble. There is no way that we could afford to ever feed our dog raw. I have a hard enough time putting healthy, homecooked foods on the table for my kids, let alone having to worry about the dog.
  17. I use SoftScrub cleanser and a Magic Eraser. It comes right off. You may have to scrub it more than once if the scum is super thick.
  18. If you can get a place in West Seattle, I think you will love it there. THe commute is easy...15-20 minutes and it is close to Alki Beach!! We lived in West Seattle for a time and really, really enjoyed it. Really quaint. Feels small. Feels removed from the city life. We also lived north in Lynnwood and the traffic to and from there would make the commute at least an hour each way. We lived in Kent, which was nice but again...a commute of 45 minutes or so. Plus the area we were in saw a great increase in crime right before we moved. Crime statistics...you should look into that when trying to decide. How exciting! Seattle really is a beautiful city with LOTS to do!! (I kinda miss it...)
  19. Congratulations!!! That is really exciting! I hope the closing goes smoothly and that you can get all moved in and post some PICS! :D
  20. You should tell her to stock up on meat...feed prices will go higher, therefore meat will go up in cost. :tongue_smilie: From what I know, there have been worse droughts. I think I read that the midwest drought in 2004 was way worse than this one. And I don't remember significant grocery price increases that year or the following year.
  21. https://www.chois.org/ This is for a Christian organization. I don't belong to Chois but went to their convention. It was very well organized. http://www.homeschoolidaho.com/district3groups.htm This is a great list of a bunch of different groups. I don't know if there is a specific Payette group...it might be worth checking into Ontario Oregon. That is much closer to you than Boise groups. Or if you can find one in Caldwell or Nampa, it will save you some mileage too. There might be one in Weiser, but I don't know. I don't belong to any of these groups, so I won't be of much help. :) But it will give you a good starting place.
  22. That is a good question. :) I won't be home until tomorrow evening...probably late. But on my home pc, I have some links for Idaho homeschool groups and info that I can post for you. Payette is a neat place.
  23. We used B+C when it was 1+2. The readings were a bit longer to compensate for combining and I could tell. It was hard for us to go from Core B (then K) to 1+2. My dd just wasn't ready for 'that' much more information than she got in K. So if you are concerned about it being too much, start with Core B. If you get through it quicker, you can move on to C. If not, then, well...no biggie. :) If you are already feeling the stress of time constraints, then B might be better. You could do the 4 day option, which would give you an extra make-up day if you get behind in the schedule. And fwiw, we've used cores P3/4 through Core E. The only cores we finished in their entirety were the preschool ones. And my kiddos have still gotten a good education. :001_smile:
