  1. It was 14-15 days before I really felt better, but was only super sick for 5.
  2. If you can wait a few days, check ads from several stores bc I have been getting emails on coat sales from lots of stores.
  3. I only bought one clearance bag of candy corn when the kids asked. Just Between Friends kids consignment is this month so I will make some $$ from that. My ER bill from being sick in August came in. $1700ish.
  4. Elder millennial here. I loved my fashion plates. I got my niece an updated version last year.
  5. From extended family? Too dang many. MIL overbuys and we have a lot of siblings. From us, it has varied annually. Last year I wrapped anything I bought from June 1 on, and they had a lot of stuff to open. This year is want ($ Lego), need (varied by kid), wear (varied), read. Plus some collector coins and minifigs in the stockings.
  6. I think the idea is that the guy is to go all out on date 1. The most upscale place in town or the next town over. Which is ridic.
  7. I should look at the sale candy. We haven't firmed up our plans for Thanksgiving but we are not hosting. I have started shopping and am mostly done with that. I have very few left on my list to buy for.
  8. Check out the Happy Planner dashboard layout. The dashboard boxes are usually titled but nothing sticker headers couldn't change.
  9. Absolutely. Also, no one here has any clue if the girl has a history of lying, running away, self-harm, or anything else that would warrant mom acting as she has.
  10. It's absolutely wild to me that people want to call the mom controlling, inappropriate, inflammatory, problematic, a Duggar etc because she found a secret phone amidst the revelation that her kid was/is in a secret relationship of some sort and figured the two things may be related. I think her text about the phone was probably fretted over and rewritten to make it as benign as possible. The most likely explanation is often the explanation.
  11. I am not seeing what is so scandalous about the kids or the other mother. I don't think they are showing any behavior atypical of 15 year olds with crushes, and I don't think mom overstepped. She communicated her stance, and asked a follow-up question when the need arose. She could have just shown up at the next class day and chewed you out for giving her child a phone to continue an illicit love affiar without proof. It doesn't sound like either kid is being totally honest, and it doesn't sound like either parent really trusts what their kid is teling them.
  12. Second grader successfully completed his project board and costumed interview for his chosen book at the co-op event. He was reluctant to sign up but enjoyed it greatly and wants to do it again next year. We have moved into Patterns of Nature for fall/winter rotating subject.
  13. Honestly, I knew the song by the title and can sing most of the lyrics but it was before my time and I had no clue who the writer/singer was. The voice is beautiful and unique, but somehow I always thought/assumed it was a man singing. The "checkout girl" line was not one I remember and it must have never registered. So this whole thread was news to me, and when I saw Tracy was a woman, I figured it was not biographical. I don't think most songs are biographical. (Is biographical even a word or do I mean biographic? I am tired.)
  14. When we were kids, one of my sisters often told people she wanted to be an artist one day. Another sister and I convinced her to specify she wanted to be a con artist because they made the most money.
  15. I have both a grandmother and a grandfather still living now in their late 80s. She has been a widow for over 25 years, never dated or remarried. The older she gets, the more she speaks of missing him. He was been a widower for 10, and after 2 years had a lady friend who was a widow. She recently passed. He really has a hard time being alone. My husband nearly refuses to speak of these types of things. My children and I say, in a lighthearted way, when I am old and alone, they will each have a place for me in their homes and alternate where I stay every 6 months. We have no contingencies if I go first.
  16. I always feel better when my TSH is under 2 and closer to 1.
  17. One kid wants a certain shoe for Christmas. $59. Amazon had it $33. Ordered, then Amazon cancelled 3 days later. Reordered at $49. Then it went to $44 so I cancelled and reordered to get my $5 back.
  18. My mother only had natural deliveries. My sisters all had vaginal births (although one had subsequent sections). One sister had her first baby with 7 minutes of pushing.
  19. Didn't read all replies. Was she induced? My first was an induction-turned-Ceasaren after 28 hours of labor, 1 hour pushing at exactly 40 weeks. I was told induction was often the start of a cascade of intervention that often led to sections. My second was a scheduled C when labs flagged me with Pre-eclampsia. This one was better emotionally but worse physically because he was early and transverse.
  20. Do you have any pop up consignment sales in the nearest city? We have Just Between Friends 2-3 times a year. There are others but I can't recall the names. I don't know anyone who would turn down hand me downs. Maybe they graciously take them and just pass on what they don't like, but they still take it and I occasionally see the kids in pieces. I am sad to be moving out of our old Gymboree and Gap, and I also take care of my kids' clothes. My mom lives middle of nowhere and has awesome thrift shops. We always find something when we visit. Near me, there is rarely anything worth looking at in the kid section. The JBF sale is where we score big.
  21. I have a 5 year gap and save everything for the little one. I buy everything on steep clearance on off seasons and it works well 99% of the time. I usually resell at kid consignment sales, but have just started giving away the younger one's outgrown clothes. I have a friend who has a boy after a few girls, and another who had 3 boys in under 5 years. Even my niece takes some of the pieces that my sister likes.
  22. Still working on Eats, Shoots & Leaves. Not quite what I expected it to be, so I am slugging through.
  23. Monday I did arms while DH worked out and we chatted. Tuesday I biked. Wednesday I rested. Tonight I walked the neighborhood. Tomorrow is ballet.
  24. Oh speaking of insane sale prices.... Children's Place, which has been on par with Walmart pricing for most of my kids' lives, had a 3 pack of little boys sweat pants ON SALE for $53 this week. Last time I bought them there, they were $8 tops.
