  1. We went - to 6 different locations. It's a fun tradition we do every year and everyone loves it.
  2. We named our school Five Stars Academy (5 kids). But when she graduated, dd wanted to use our last name - Academy. She was proud she was homeschooled and wanted it to be obvious on her diploma. Love that girl :) Sue
  3. Heritage Christian Home School Support Group attracts people from NW Houston including Spring and Cypress https://www.homeschool-life.com/tx/hchs/
  4. Ds (10) has been going to Shriners since he was an infant. He had surgery for clubfoot there and is currently being monitored for his scoliosis and limb length discrepancy. We LOVE Shriners. They go above and beyond to take care of the kids.
  5. We have been loving Wise and Otherwise :)
  6. I have two pairs and wear them without socks. LOVE them.
  7. My daughter used BJU Algebra 2. When she got to College Algebra, I found she had not been properly prepared. I don't want to make the same mistake with my next child. He has done BJU Algebra 1 and Jacobs Geometry. Whilch Lial should I use for Algebra 2? Thanks, Sue
  8. Both dd's (17 and 9) use Manic Panic. They have gone Vampire Red, Hot Pink, and one of the purples (sorry, don't remember which). They have had a lot of fun with it. It is available online or at Sally Beauty Supply. Sue
  9. The lasagna recipe on the back of the Ronzini Healthy Harvest all natural 100% whole grain lasagna box is always a hit with company. Instead of 1 lb. of ground beef, we use 1/2 lb. ground meat and 1/2 lb. italian sausage. YUM Sue
  10. dd (17) recently got a cartridge piercing done at a tattoo/piercing place. I admit, I went in with preconceived notions; but I found them to be professional, knowledgeable, and clean. I would definitely go back with any of my kids.
  11. ds (14) and I have a "date" to see it this afternoon. We are the only ones in the household to read the series so we get to go before the rest of the family. Plus, I'm excited to have a day for just the two of us (we're going out to eat as well). Sue
  12. Dd (17) had all four wisdom teeth pulled just last Friday. We chose to do a local (general anesthesia was too expensive). She came through just fine and in fact was glad she had not slept through it. Her recommendation for her siblings is to stay awake. Hope all goes well :) Sue
  13. Yes, but only a few subjects. DH works today so we're going to be working too (on school). Sue
  14. I have attended both. There is NO WAY I would ever take my kids during the regular season. The clothing is too revealing. The wenches proposition the men. The "jokes" are crude. I was very uncomfortable with it. It is so much nicer during the school days. The kids had an amazing time and I didn't have to be concerned with what they were seeing or hearing. Sue
  15. Yup - I took the kids ice skating today - no crowd and a special homeschool price. Lovin' it :001_smile: Sue
  16. I rarely wear make up. Dh is absolutely fine with that, whether we're at home or going out.
  17. We took all the kids - even the 6 and 8 year old. Everyone loved the movie. No sex. Light language. Some violence, but only 1 gory scene. We actually went to see it twice. Sue
  18. chocolate watching 14yo ds wrestle with his 6 yo brother chocolate the way 14 yo ds and 17 yo dd get along so well and do so many things together and did I mention chocolate? :) Sue
  19. We have a Little House cookbook - Inside Laura's Little House. We love the Ma's Brown Sugar Christmas Cakes recipe. Sue
  20. Breakfast is the one meal I truly enjoy cooking. I often bake - banana bread, muffins, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, or monkey bread, but may do pancakes, scrambled eggs, breakfast tacos, etc. Lunch is a sandwich, leftovers, or whatever else the kids can find. Supper is usually cooked by dh and I together (he grills the meat and I do the sides).
  21. about to start our 12th year and still loving it Sue
  22. watching it right now :001_smile: Sue
  23. Second dc (14) is rising into 9th. I don't feel near the apprehension that I did with first dc (who is 11th and starting dual credit courses so I didn't mess her up too bad :tongue_smilie:). ds will be taking: Bible - read daily English - Grammar/Comp and LLTR at co-op Math - BJU Algebra 1 Science - Apologia Biology taught by a friend History - World Geography at co-op Logic - Traditional Logic Looking forward to a great year, Sue
  24. We get slammed with 3 birthdays in one month and another the following month. Birthday parties depend on the age they are turning and our financial situation each year. Last year, we had ds turning double digits and another becoming a teenager - they had a combined laser tag party. Dd turning 7 just had friends at ChikFilA. Dd turning 16 had a HUGE water slide in the backyard and a party with all the trimmings. This year, we didn't do much. Each child chose the breakfast, supper, and dessert they wanted, and we just celebrated as a family. Sue
