  1. My mother has used Nice and Easy forever...I use Nice and Easy root touch up in between highlights-it looks great. It is easy to use and quite forgiving.
  2. I visited him in the hospital last night. His mother wasn't there so I really didn't get any clear answers as to his condition. He says he needs another surgery in about eight weeks-So coming from a 13-year-old boy, he said that he did not get the appendix out yet they had to clean out the infection and fecal matter?? That in eight weeks he will have the appendix removed… Does that make sense?
  3. I voted "heck no", but only because I had a bladder lift a couple of years ago. I had leakage in *all* of the situations listed in the poll prior to my surgery. I am now able to play competitive volleyball, basketball, coach my children's teams, and sneeze :-) without leaking. I feel like myself again after years of feeling like I could not live an active lifestyle.
  4. These are great ideas! I'm not sure what is going on with him but his mom said it would be up to two weeks in the hospital for his recovery. They inserted a PIC tube today.
  5. Great ideas! His mother says he does not like to read much because he has tracking issues- but he does enjoy National Geo Reference type books. Legos and puzzles would be great to keep him busy...I wish I knew what video games he is interested in. Would lifesavers, or other hard candy be appropriate? I am sure his diet is restricted, but I would like to bring him a sweet. @Unsinkable- Yes, the poor kid spent the entire day in the hot car Saturday because his brother had morning games, then our team had afternoon games. His mother thought he had a bug- and wanted to encourage him to be available since my team was short on numbers. He ended up staying in the car (thank goodness!-Rugby is a contact sport, and I hate to think what might have happened if he took a hit with a flaming appendix...). His mom thought he had the flu- he was still sick on Sunday, then Monday he woke up in pain. She feels terrible for not knowing- but he has a very high pain tolerance, and his symptoms seemed like a common bug. I don't think most people would have caught it. Apparently the appendix was hiding behind the colon- which made the symptoms less obvious. Thanks for the ideas, I am going to visit tonight- then hopefully the team will pitch in and we can make a basket full of goodies.
  6. His mom said the hospital has an XBox...I will have to check if he has a hand-held. If my ds was in the hospital- this would be exactly what he would request to occupy his time :).
  7. I coach my ds's Rugby team, and one of my players had to have emergency surgery to have his appendix removed yesterday. I would like to put together something that will help make his recuperation a bit easier. He will be in the hospital for up to two weeks. I think food is pretty much out. Thanks for your ideas! Lisa
  8. I think it is a lovely, heartfelt, and gracious letter. I am very sorry about the loss of your father and your grandmothers decline.
  9. She is precious...and she favors Grandma!
  10. I have missed you too. As far as the board changes go- I don't even remember the old board...and I was not happy with the changes at first. Hope you stick around!
  11. You must have been grandfathered in. I had unlimited data until I upgraded my phone. I thought that Verizon said that all grandfathered plans would be going away at some point. I miss unlimited data! I don't think you can sign up now and get unlimited, but I would love to be wrong...!
  12. Cathy has been on my mind for a long time. She had never been a frequent poster, but I was always happy to see her here. I was so thrilled for her to find love and to hear about her marriage- then she got sick. She has inspired me over the years as an adoptive mom, and I hope that she is well.
  13. I have loved this woman's honesty and voice. I have missed her on the boards, and always secretly hoped we would meet at a WA meet-up. I too would like to send a card letting Kay know how much her posts have meant to me over the years. I am so very sad to hear this...
  14. Just curious because I have Verizon Mifi- how do you get unlimited? We pay a lot, and I believe that 10 GB is usually about $80. I would love unlimited...maybe you know something I don't? Thanks, Lisa
  15. This thread inspired me to go out and get myself a hula hoop- mine is from Canyon Hoops- 2lbs. My sides hurt right now, but I am having fun, and my dc keep using it (I am feeling a bit possessive over it though). I don't have unlimited wifi- so I would love some tried DVD recommendations.
  16. I coach a 5th grade boys basketball team, and we gave out medals. We will be doing an engraved water bottle next season.
  17. I had a French Bulldog- he made a crazy "barking" noise. I compared the sound to the Tasmanian Devil! He wasn't much of a chewer. Mastiffs are big love bugs usually.
  18. Thank you for sharing this lovely tribute to your dd.
  19. I am actually kind of surprised that the vet hasn't already hooked him up to an IV. Have you tried a raw egg? I don't know if that will work, but it's worth a try. It sounds like you are giving him all the love and attention you can right now. I would absolutely take him to the vet in the morning...best wishes.
  20. :grouphug: :grouphug: You have been through so much. I wish you peace and I hope you find some relief. I think Dr. Joanne has a very nice ring to it...
  21. Here are Crystal, Rosie, Dexter, Ziva, and in the corner...but mostly out of the shot- Blue. We also have a couple of goats and cats, a bunch of chickens, and a leopard gecko.
  22. I am a huge GSD fan and I currently have 2, but I think you might want to wait for the Anatolian. I am not concerned about the line breeding so much, but I think you open yourself up a can of worms by taking a puppy. What if it doesn't work out? Will there be animosity or awkwardness on either side? Without knowing if your brothers dogs "could" be amazing dogs since they haven't put in the training I would be concerned. My GSDs have and will kill our chickens if given the opportunity. We did not get them as puppies though. I think the Anatolian was bred to care for your flock.
  23. What a jerk! (((Hugs))) to you and your dear mother.
  24. What kind is it? This would be great for me!
