lovemykids
Nice!!!! I have been strongly leaning toward doing the same thing. (since last night-LOL) My dd loves Sonlight, but every time I look at the higher cores I am not satisfied, no matter how much I tell myself I can make it work, I still have nagging doubts. I would basically have to rewrite the cores to mesh with our beliefs. Why not make my own list and LBC style schedule? It will be fun! We have always done our own booklist and schedule for history and science over the years (sometimes pulling from packages or guides); why not continue? For the books I don’t feel like reading, I can simply pick up a study guide. Others I can skim and pull out material for discussion that way. With our new plan, we can return to a CM mutli-stream of history study, which I miss doing. :hurray: Thanks for the inspiration, Medieval Mom. :grouphug: Great LIST! Chloe
This is what I have done also.....compiled a book list for each year. You've got more books listed though, as my list, so far, is only for the books we actually own right now. I haven't added the ones I still need to buy. This is a wonderful resource for me, as you've put together your list from some of the same resources I have used to make my lists (Ambleside, Robinson Curriculum, OFE, etc.) Thanks so much!! angela in ohio
Old Fashioned Education Thanks for these Medieval Mom! How did you decide which year to put them in if two different curricula listed them in two different years? Does that make sense? :) Not Medieval Mom, but what I did was to take a 'vote.' I marked the grade level next to each book each time I found it on one of the original lists I was using, and then I went with the majority. It also helped me narrow my lists. Unless I loved the book, if it was only recommended by one source, I didn't put it on my list.

Medieval Mom
Yes, thank you! Medieval Mom, do you pick & choose from your lists or do you get through all of these titles? I'm embarrassed! Actually, I made these list when I was thinking of beginning ancients in third grade. But ds wanted to begin Ancients halfway through 1st, so that is what we did. We're giving AO2 a shot this year. We've just begun this week. If we can't stand following a schedule, perhaps we'll go back to our routine of the basics + copious reading! :) So! Have we got through all the titles in first grade? Hmm! I've have to go back and look. Let's see..
