Ellie
Surely there will be something on the 1000 Good Books List that she'll like. :-)
PeterPan
When my dd was that age I kept her busy with the TruthQuest guides and the VP catalog. VP has a vikings series and a roman ransom series she liked that might be about the level you're looking for. Also, WTM lists an oxford series of fairy tales by country/regions that she really enjoyed.

Tanaqui
Well, the obvious answer here is more Riordan. He's got two more series featuring Percy Jackson et al, another one with Egyptian gods, and I believe another still with Norse gods. Barring that, I have a few suggestions. It is important to note that your ideas of what is appropriate for a 9 year old and mine might differ. I used the Percy Jackson books as a guide, but that's not perfect. I strongly suggest you check out every book before handing it to your daughter. Fantasy/Sci Fi Aru Shah and the End of Time The Savage Fortress The Earthsea Cycle The Mirror of Fire and Dreaming (this series starts a bit slow) The Dark is Rising Space Case Zahrah, the Windseeker Ambassador and Nomad (must read both books) The Dalemark Quartet Harry Potter Astronaut Academy (graphic novel) Breadcrumbs The Prydain Chronicles Oddity Zita the Spacegirl (graphic novel) Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer Akata Witch The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm The Real Boy Hereville (graphic novel) Doll Bones Mars Evacuees Nimona (graphic novel) Forest World Savvy The Thief series by Margaret Whalen Turner The Powerless trilogy The Bliss bakery series Amulet (graphic novel) The Last Kids on Earth Where the Mountain Meets the Moon Princeless (graphic novel) Wee Free Men The Princess Academy The Jumbies Bayou Magic Greenglass House Lowriders in Space (graphic novel) ORVIS The Zero Degree Zombie Zone Lumberjanes (graphic novel) A Tangle of Knots Windblowne The Unnameables Amazing Greek Myths of Wonders and Blunders (graphic novel) The Sasquatch Escape The Hamster Princess The True Meaning of Smekday The Path of Names Un Lun Dun The Nine Pound Hammer Mail-Order Wings (and anything else by this author you can find) Gregor the Overlander Hammer of Witches Whales on Stilts (some people really hate this writing style. Take it out from the library first) The House with a Clock in its Walls Annals of the Western Shore series Jinx Circle of Magic quartet Realistic contemporary and historical Step Up to the Plate, Maria Singh The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street Amelia Rules (graphic novel) Detectives in Togas Inside Out and Back Again The Birchbark House The Mighty Miss Malone Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild (yes, that is the correct spelling) The Eagle of the Ninth Roller Girl (graphic novel) A Jar of Dreams Strawberry Hill Misadventures of the Family Fletcher Starring Sally J. ExcitedMama
A little different from what you asked but check out Owl Crate Jr. Its a monthly box with a book and some extras. It’s been great for DS. Sometimes he ends up loving books that he would not normally consider and finds new authors to check out. You can also see books they’ve chosen to find some ideas. Several have had great female protagonists like the Wizards of Once (from the author of How to Train Your Dragon).
Lecka
My daughter is that age and I recently got her a set of Thea Stilton books. She does like them and I think they include a surprising amount of background knowledge. She also likes Roald Dahl.
