  1. Where to buy certified glasses to view the solar eclipse safely?
  2. Sorry I think the link was not what I wanted to share and could not change it, here is the correct one--
  3. I am from India originally and the above is sound advice. Mumbai is a very big modern city and as long as you use common precautions you will be fine. Don't overthink and have lots of fun. I am linking a video here, this guy Max Chernov YouTube channel is good to have a glimpse to several people from other countries who made India home ( some of these videos are of Mumbai). His channel also features other Asian countries. If you have time maybe you will feel more comfortable when your ds is there
  4. My 15-year-old daughter has periods which are heavy and long and painful but she has not had a period for about 2 months now. It was busy, stressful and tiring time. so assumed the stress was throwing it off, but she mentioned she sort of got it couple of days ago but it's really light and spotty and very much opposite of her regular cycle and no cramps. She's not sure it's a period. Should we worry about it or wait for a couple more months and see.
  5. It's been a while and I was not sure if calling cards are still available 😀. I had to call an airport in Turkey and I was wondering how I would reach them. Because they would not have Skype or WhatsApp, signal etc. Eventually I didn't have to call them but I just got me thinking in case I had to call somewhere else where they had a landline only. And we don't have landline at home now. Thanks all.
  6. I have family sprinkled around the world and we use WhatsApp a lot. It's free and it's easy to use. But I just had to call a business in another country and they don't have WhatsApp and it was wondering how I am going to call them? So if you were planning to call somebody else in another country, how are you doing it right now. I tried using my cell phone but I did not go through.
  7. We are looking for a dining room table set which would not be too expensive. Was looking at Costco but the reviews are mixed. Where do you get a decent quality dining room furniture..
  8. Sorry not to derail this topic but what is this chronometer you guys keep talking about and how are you using it?
  9. I'm 44, maybe premenopausal. I used to sleep a lot when younger. Sometimes I fall asleep quick sometimes not so. I usually wake up to go pee in the middle of the night and once I wake up it's hard to go back to sleep. I'm just tossing and turning for 1 to 2 hours and then slowly fall back asleep.. Can I do anything to help improve the quality of my sleep.
  10. Our 14dd did go to the speech therapy because she was pushing her tongue on the lower teeth and the orthodontist said there is no point of getting braces now if that was not corrected because it would revert anyway. She is successfully done that and is now in braces.. I keep asking her once in a while where her tongue is , and she says the roof where it should be and relaxed..
  11. Do you mind sharing how old your son was when you started therapy? Did your pediatrician prescribe it? I have never heard about it. How did you find out about it.. Do we ask a pediatrician about it. My son does pocket food in his mouth, keeps filling his mouth with not enough space to chew and we have to keep reminding him to chew his food and swallow..
  12. Junie, Thank you for calling out on me for naming ds that. I didn't realize it was triggering. Do you do anything different with your children now? Or worry about them. I forgot the term but my ds was also diagnosed as failure to thrive and we had to go see nutritionist at a hospital.
  13. Oh it is saying you cannot receive messages for some reason.
  14. Our ds11 is a skinny bean pole. He's turning 12 next month and he's 57.5inches and about 60 lbs. He just started the middle school and 6th grade and he mentioned that there were kids were making fun of him, bullying him. My son has long beautiful hair and they keep making fun of him that he's trans etc. He mentioned some neighborhood kids made him do arm wrestling to show him that he was so weak that even a 4-year-old kid was stronger than him and it made him cry.. It breaks my heart to see my kid suffer. He was saying yesterday that he would do 50 push-ups before going to bed 😲. Ds has always been skinny throughout his life and always was below growth chat or between 1 to 5% of the growth chart, We even have to take him to a feeling specialist when he was a toddler in the hospital which was not much helpful because they told us to give him lot of shakes etc. Which he didn't want , was very picky eater as a kid but he's improved a lot and though he still picky he eats a good variety of food. He eats only as much as he wants and then not a bite more than what he needs, this includes his favorite sweets etc. Which is amazing to watch because none of us at home can control as he can. We don't have too much too much junk food at home so we eat quite healthy. He's constantly moving or doing headstands or some activity or the other at home so he keeps burning the food he eats rapidly. He is healthy and he's. When I asked him if he wants to cut his hair because of all the torments at school he mentioned no he'll just ignore them . Our dd14 who has access to the same food and is in the healthy range but on the higher end of the BMI chart, and she does not move much at all. She just likes to sit and read or do school work. I guess my questions are two fold 1) How can I make my son feel comfortable with his body and not take offense to the hurtful comments of the bullies and how to protect himself 2) What can I do to make him grow more strong and build muscle etc.. He has automatic limits on himself on how much food he eats, so I don't want to overfeed him and break his feedback cycle just for the sake of bulking him up right now.. If you had the sons who were skinny bean poles, did they grow up to be muscular strong men? Just fyi on background.. we are Indian origin and I remember myself and My husband being very skinny when we were young too but no more. We are very chubby and heavyweighters now 😂. In theory I am not that worried because I know most of us grew up like that but it is heartbreaking to see him like this.. and everybody, in my family and friends have an opinion that I need to feed him more and it is exhausting..
  15. Kids eat ok, could do better. Ds is picky eater almost at 5% on growth chart DD has heavy periods and tired a lot..
  16. What multivitamins and fish oil do your kids take. Looking for good quality with minimal additives for our children. Thank you
  17. Not sure if it will affect our kids yet, our oldest is just starting high school this fall. Do you guys support this decision?
  18. That I can order online..my DS is 11.
  19. My 11 yo DS is doing good in math and goes to school (5th grade currently). I want to supplement with AoPS PreAlgebra online class. Has anyone done that and have any reviews about it? Thank you
  20. How do I get mine analyzed if I want to..thid sounds very intriguing..
  21. I am concerned that we are getting less/not enough iodine from unionized sea salt.
  22. We use mainly sea salt that is not iodized, or pink Himalayan salt which is also not iodized. But I just heard from a friend that her 14yo DD got diagnosed with hashimoto with TSH to 8 or so. The pediatric endocrinologist at DC children's hospital is not medicating yet and will check labs again after 6 months. They will work on diet, exercise etc. to help weight as well. But we were talking about salt and about iodization and realized we don't use it. Hope I'm not short changing my family. What type of salts do you use?
  23. It is commercially frozen meat and bones from store
